This is the only reason I'm going to be sad when it legalizes here. Even tho I am surrounded my legalized states, prices are still high here.
$20 a gram
50-60 an 8th
300+ an oz
Etc etc.
And people pay it without blinking and it's always in high demand.
I recently priced my grow costs at around 70$ a plant. But that is over 4 pounds a plant. So all in all that is pretty good.
Did you factor in your labour costs into that?

A decent grower can grow desirable bud for .25 a gram or less.
I don't see how. Not saying your wrong but what does your hourly labour rate work out to in those calculations.

If i spend 1 hr a day (little 4 x 4) at $40 an hr (that's less than my normal working rate which works out between $50 and $60). Using 100 days for ease of calculations is $400 in labour alone.
If I pull a pound that's $1 a gram just in labour costs.

No...why would I? Does anyone? I'm talking about the money I had to shell out to grow. Costs of seeds, soil, gas, nutes, screen for my boxes, screws, tape etc etc.
Its a cost. I run my own business and labour (even if its your own, especially if its your own) has a cost.
Labour should be included into the equation. Your worth it.

people growing enough to have to hire a crew to help harvest and trim do, pay ten people a hundred bucks a day to harvest and trim for ten days and that's 10k
I do it myself and always have. So I don't have to calculate that in. The way I look at it ...it is my free time to use how I want. I use my free time to grow pot. And later harvest it. My reward is all the weed I can possibly smoke.

and that's fantastic but if you want to calculate what it costs to grow, your time must be factored into it. After all time is money and your worth it.

My payment is weed that cost me .26 cents a gram. My payment is the love I have of doing it and growing. My payment is opening a bottle of champagne when it is all over and smoking a fatty in the woods that I grew myself.
Maybe others want to factor in their labor costs but trust me...mine is more then covered ;)

Im not saying its not. You grow amazing plants.

I don't grow as well as you and I also have more than enough. I haven't bought pot in well over a decade. Its not about that Its about the true cost of growing that Gram and Labour would be one of the biggest costs.
I Gorilla grew for years and even factored in fuel to the equation.

i see both sides of it, i pull one plant a week usually, and just trimming that one is a pain in the ass. but at least 25% of that plant is mine to keep, and i turn the rest into cash.
but that's one plant a week, turn that into ten plants a week, or 50....even a harvest of 100 plants every other month would swamp one person.
i really don't know exactly what it costs me to grow, but i know it's a small fraction of what i'd have to pay to get worse weed, and in reality i make enough to pay my bills and feed my fat ass truck, so i'm happy.

That is a compliment. Thanks man... but fine with out labor it cost .26 a gram. (That's including fuel costs)
But either way ...thanks again and hope you have a great season.

As prices drop growers need to know what their own labour costs are. We are not making as much as we think when we factored those in is my point I spose.
I see new people start business (not pot related) and forget that they need to budget themselves a wage and a better wage than what they would get as an employee all the time. Its hard to convince some of them that they are worth more money than what they think..
Trimming is the worst job and its time consuming.

Everyone has a certain amount of free time and money. How we choose to spend it is up to us. Most on here spend it growing weed. When you throw monetary reward into the hobby mix, it jumbles up everything. I've turned hobbies into jobs before, and it takes all the fun out of it. I never want to make a dollar off my grows.

I made my own dry trimmer last yr and did an awesome job. Didn't loose anymore kief then I would trimming by hand. I scrapped that model and am making a bigger and better version this yr. Saved my sanity! I hate trimming.
