Line your Mason jars with parchment paper!

I use tinted (purple) Mason jars and I vacuum seal them and keep them in a cool, dark place. But one problem I always had, was that many of the trichomes would smear all over the interior of the glass. Maybe I'm a bit OCD about preserving every last little bit of goodness, but it took a lot of effort and attention to grow it and dry it and cure it, so why not store it with the same attention to detail, right?

So all you have to do is cut a circle of parchment paper to cover the bottom of the jar and then cut another piece, form it into a cylindrical shape and slide it into the jar so that the sides are covered. Then pack the jar as you normally would.

It works like a charm and all trichomes are preserved! No more smearing! :)

I do this with cardboard boxes. Line the floor with parchment or wax paper so it runs up the walls a bit to catch all the trichs while dying and curing (I wrap box in plastic to sweat).

Fellas,

Anything that falls onto the paper is also collectible....even easier, in fact.

The trichomes I deal with are always sticky -never dry. My glass gets sticky even when I place the buds carefully into the jars -not "smashing" them in. This is why I love the paper so much. Plus, it's a super easy and cheap way to conserve.

Whatever gets onto the paper is easily scraped up and dabbed. Using the paper idea doesn't change anything other than keeping the inside glass clean and making it so that you don't have to use a solvent to mop it up.

not easier...

cutting parchment paper and lining the jar is more time consuming than dumping some iso into the jar and dumping onto a pie plate after 20 secs...

just my opinion

Hi Tstick...I like when thinking goes outside the box....nice job !!
You mentioned "purple" tinted mason jars....never could find tinted mason jars. Because it's purple..is it Miron glass (which is VIOLET) ?? Don't know if other companies make that glass other than "mypharmjar". Extremely expensive for 1 qt jars with the hygrometer cap. I picked some up to try instead of using a hygrometer sensor in a Mason jar. Miron glass is an amazing product. I'm anxious to do a cure with these babies !!
I have a WW coming down in about a week to test em with.
It's a good read if you/anyone ever check the "mypharmjar" website. Only thing....if you want them...you have to dig deep. I believe on sale now for $36.00/ea.
I just grow for my head....but I'm worth it. Just need to fill the 6 of em up and go for the long cure .
Ahhhhh....retired...smoking weed...driving nice cars and spending $$....it's a wonderful thing !.

Peace & Puff

Ill try it with a jar or two next harvest and see how it works.. cutting parchment paper is NOT that time consuming imo and really not more time consuming at all then waiting for a solvent to FULLY evaporate. thanks for the idea man!

Nah, these are not those special DARK violet glass jars. I know the ones you speak of. I have a couple of those, too. They are nice, but really pricey!

The Mason jars I use are tinted purple, but they are also available in green and blue and red tinted as well, I think. They are mainly decorative, but they are a bit darker than the regular glass versions. Maybe they do filter a bit more light. But I store my jars in a dark space anyway. The advantage of those really dark violet ones is that you can keep them in the light longer. They do work better in that setting....like if you wanted to keep a jar out, ready for use, then they'd probably be great and maybe worth investing in one. I'd line them either way.

Suit yourself, man. But it honestly doesn't take anywhere near the time to cut the paper as it does to wait for the solvent to dry....and then scrape it up and collect it.
