5gal sandy loam
5gal mushroom compost
5gal chicken manure compost
5gal worm casting
5-10gal perlite (depending on age)
5gal uncharged biochar
1gal bokashi
4cup azomite
1cup dolo lime
.5-1cup epsom salt

mix, let sit in a trashcan or storage bins loosely covered and out of rain. wait a few weeks to use.

further with this mix,

The soil becomes like a mix of biochar, peaty stuff, perlite, and sandy loam after a large plant. So, re-amending the soil is easy by adding bokashi, spent mushroom substrate, and vermicastings. Will take you through another grow or three or four by repeating.

If you want to keep it really simple take a store bought soil with next to nothing in it, like Roots B2, and mix in a a store bought organic amendment mix at the recommended rate. I use DTE BioLive since it already has the soil inoculants.

1 bale of promix
1 bag of worm castings,
or guano,
or llama shit,
or composted chicken shit,
or composted cow shit.
then add water.

like a frikken charm every time, no additives needed, no deficiencies, no issues.
those stupid Jobes organic spikes will feed a thriving marijuana plant in a bag of promix with nothign but water added too, dont over thing this.

Bump for this thread...love hearing about different soil mixes that have proven to work! I'm in 3 gallon pots with FFOF balanced with lime...I seem to have to water too much and want something that might hold water a little better, so I don't overwater

You could also just use a bigger pot.

To be completely honest if you are just in pots and you said you want simple... you could get away with a bag of FoxFarm Ocean Forest and add 25% or more perlite to that. From there you can amend as needed if you wish to water only and not use any liquid hydro nutes. Alot of growers will use FoxFarm Ocean Forest with perlite for the first 30 days use just plain water and then start supplementing PK at flower cycle. You can bring in the PK with bat guano and emulsions. 5 gallon bucket bio brews are not terribly hard to maintain. Then you can use the bio brew as your alternative watering between feedings or just as your only feed if your soil is hot/rich enough. What kind of pots? just curious if you are in smart pots or air pots or plastic pots or what? Be sure to maintain drainage at all times specially if you are in a standard plastic pot. You will want enough inert air trapping material such as perlite.

I'm putting together my first organic soil.

I'm asking here because Rabbit manure is specifically mentioned in this thread.

This will be used indoors with 600w HID lights and 5 gal fabric pots.

As a base I'm using:
1/3 Just Natural Organic Raised Bed Mix w/ Worm Castings
raisedbedmix.jpg
1/3 Fresh Rabbit Manure. Also contains some straw bedding.
1/3 Perlite

For amendments I plan to use:

dolomite lime- 1 cup per cf
oyster shell meal- 1 cup per cf
crab meal- 1 cup per cf
gypsum- 1 cup per cf

Nitrogen
blood meal- 1 cup per cf
feather meal- 2 cups per cf
alfalfa meal- 2 cups per cf <--- is this needed? the rabbits are mainly fed alfalfa.

Phosphorus
bone meal- 2 cup per cf
fish bone meal- 2 cup per cf
bat guano- 1 cup per cf

Potassium
kelp meal- 2 cups per cf
langbeinite 1 cup per cf

Trace Minerals @ 1/2 cup per cf
azomite
glacial rock dust
green sand
basalt

This is largely based on a recipe that was given to me by a friend.
His grows are outstanding and far better than what I get using bottled nutes.
The difference being I'm gonna use Rabbit manure and the Just Natural soil
instead of compost manure and peat.

My goal is to water only for the entire grow. Possibly using an Aact tea occasionally
made from rabbit manure, bat and seabird guano, EWC and insect frass during veg.
Would this tea be good for flowering too?

Provided this works well I plan to recycle/re-amend the root balls for use in future grows.

Any suggestions on how to tweak this or adjust the process to achieve the "water only" goal
are appreciated.

It will be several months before I'm ready to use it as I have 4 plants in flower now and 5 in
veg waiting in line for the flower tent. So there will be plenty of time for this mix to "cook"
before it is needed.

Thanks

PS
For jumping through these hoops I expect abouta pound for my troubles.;):weed:

If you can compost the rabbit manure that would probably be best. That shit is hot. I’d also take out the bat guano for your phosphorus especially if you are no tilling or vegging in that pot. Save the guano for top dresses or teas. This is just my opinion.

I do like your broad approach for your mix though. My soil is something along those lines too.

2 cups is a bit much for alfalfa meal, I use just 1/4 cup now, even with my rabbit gone, and still have green ass plants!

I would tone a couple meals back in your Nitrogen section, and run more minerals.

Don’t know if it’s the best but it is very economical and it works very well.

My soil is rock hard sun burnt clay as far down as I can dig. So that’s my starting base. Each plant plot if you will is aprox 6’x6’ and dug out to around 28” deep. The clay from the plot is then spread out on flat ground in an area about 8’ long by 4’ wide about 4”deep. Then lasagna style I begin by laying leaves, grass clippings, small sticks, food scraps, cardboard, newspapers, bunny poop, and horse poop in aprox 4” layers then another 4” layer of clay until it’s a couple feet high. Water each layer of clay really well this helps the chunks break down.

The plot hole I throw in the biggest sticks and branches up to a few inches in diameter just so the bottom of the hole is covered. Then I cover that in a layer of horse poop.

Back to the lasagna pile I then slice the pile like lasagna shoveling the slices into one big pile and let it sit for a month or so. Then when it’s time to put back in the plot the now blended soil mix is then lasagna layered back into the hole alternating layers of leaves and grass and bunny and horse poop until the hole is filled and raised 8 to 10 inches above ground level.

I don’t have to source or buy anything since we own bunnies horses trees and a lawn. Does it work? Yup, since going the no buy route my plants went from thumb sized main stems to ankle sized main stems. Oh yeah I know this is about soil but I wanna mention their also only watered with grey water.
Getting a few pounds a plant doesn’t require much in the way of money since leaves and grass clippings are all around and any horse stable will gladly let you haul away all the crap you want.

I dont think you need a lot of what you are adding here.. Im not exactly sure 100% but im pretty sure you dial back on a lot of that to save money.. You can probably make a water only mix and make it through but id say a couple top dresses would be better.. And your teas youre making are not an aact imo.... They are nute teas... And you probably won't need them with everything you're gonna add to yiur soil... If you want a microbial tea.. (aact) you only want things that will stimulate microbial growth... From what i have seen and learned adding nutes defeats that purpose... A good microbial tea would be ewc, compost, top soil from the woods, and maybe some from the garden.....and some molasse for microbial food...you could just do ewc compost and a carb source. If you think your plants need some nutes then make the nute tea... But make that microbial tea FIRST so you will have a more diverse microbial habitat.. Which will make more nutes available to your plants.. Then you can see if you will actually need the nutes.... I think you will have way too much n like don said... And im not exactly sure but i think oyster shell flour is a ph buffer... Check on that.. So you can prob skip on the lime... The blood meal is better used as a top dress.. Its faster acting than others... And the bone meal can prob be reduced ..id say use one or the other.. Or u can use both just not as much... Iv heard some negative things about azomite..like i said im not sure but you probably have enough minerals w.o it... Honestly bub i think you have a lot you can cut out of that mix and still be good... Its all really good shit dont get me wrong.. But with that rabbit poo thats a big source of n...ask around cause i dont want to tell you wrong but im sure you can knock out a lot...if you already bought them experiment with different mixes and see what works for u... Honestly rabbit poop and kelp meal will be a good mix along with some minerals.. But you could make it alot better with what you have there

I was thinking of trying a mix something like this... If anyone has any input and the reason behind it tell me.. Im here to learn...
30/30/40
Homemade compost..maybe with 50% being ewc/ spent soil or peat/areation
Per cf 1 cup
Neem meal, kelp meal, crab meal, oyster shells, oyster shell flour
Per cf 1/2 cup
Alfalfa meal, fish bone meal...
Minerals..
Idk exactly how many cups i should add.. Maybe someone could look at my mix and tell me.. But i though between 1 1.2 ta 2 cups of:
Rock phosphate
Gypsum
Basalt
Maybe granite
Langbeinite

For aeration i planned of using rotted wood chunks.. Charged with bunny poo tea and biochar.. That's only if im using peat will i add the biochar.. .my old soil will have perlite so.... Please chime in and tell me what to add or subtract... I stole this from grease basically with a couple different things
