Side-effects of increasing yields with increased light intensity

Would anyone mind sharing experiences they have had with trying to either reduce the length of their harvest cycle or increase yields by increasing light intensity? The reason I ask is that we are designing an experiment where we increase yields or decrease harvest time with increased light intensity, while monitoring the plants with different types of sensors to see if we can catch negative side-effects (nutrient burn, beaching...) early and treat them cost-effectively, or identify the thresholds where those side-effects begin. So I am trying to anticipate as many side-effects as possible in advance by asking growers to share their experiences (What intensity did you try? How did you manage or avoid side-effects?). Thank you.

A buddy of mine has managed to bleach the tips of his buds a few times using Platinum LEDs (blurple).
I'm pretty sure it's a combination of intense light and low PPMs. He overfed his plants when he first started growing and has been gun shy ever since. He also believes his plants will finish sooner than they actually do, so they get zero nutes the last 3 weeks.
It's kinda sad.
Hell he gave me a sack from a year ago that I *might* use for butter.
Or I might just throw it away. Buds are bleached and underfed with white tips. I'll get a pic...

OK, the tips aren't as bleached as I thought. Or I may have pinched them off. I don't remember.
Either way, it's pretty awful. Smells stale and grassy.

Hey all,
Was at my mates place today sitting down having a few

when a Smoke Detector started going off it's nut.

We both jumped up and made a dash for the room and upon entering it was smokey,

we opened the zippa door to his room and sure enough the flames where about half a foot high.

I did the mad dart to his kitchen where he has a 1kg Dry Powder fire extinguisher went in the room

and gave it a 2 second burst and it was out. Bloody messy tho the room was filled with powder from that 2 seconds.

Anyway it was his Co2 system he imported from the US that was from a company called Bey Tech

it was ment to be a fire proofed fail safe system.

The box went up and if we had not been there he would now be explaining to the police why he is homeless.

If you get the chance to look at this Co2 Blackbox have a look and BEWARE....

My suggestions to every1 is to get a few smoke deectors and an extinguishers for the sake of $30 if could save you a lot of explaining.

P.S I was told that the dry powder is only baking soda? Can any1 confirm? Also willl it kill his ladies they seemed ok after a shower? But I guess time will tell.

Increase ventilation, mantain moderately high temps, do not use a single point of light, Ideal situation would be a complete photon inmersión using led strips evenly distributed across the canopy.
Instead of increase the ppfd with more lights at he canopy, add photons in side lighting. Use CO2 if you can. Use an hour of darkness in the middle of the day light hours to relief plants stress.... Let your plants drink as they want, so maybe you have to change nute concetration.
You can go to at least 1500 ppfd this way without bleaching or heat problems if you use these tech. Also if you use sativa strains they can tolerate better higher lights intensities and hotter temps.

Looks like he underfed the shit out of them and chopped way to early

Plants look terrible.

Was thinking of getting one of those auto fire extinguishers or making my own sprinkler system for some peace of mind.

My issue with the auto extinguishers is they need to be replaced every so often and the fear of it,going off unnecessarily.

Yea that could happen I would just wire everything up correct no wires to get wet on floor and everything should be good

Yeah. But nothing gives peace of mind like knowing you got 100gal tank,full of water ready to extinguish a fire if it ever happened.

Been growing for 6 years issue free. Its a small,concern. But now that im a homeowner its a little more scary.

Oh yea so true
Well now days for peace of mind you can allways wire up a camera watching the grow
And have it on wifi to your phone

thought i was the only paranoid one about fires,

So I can leave for days at a time worry free
i use 2 per square meter.

You can run quite a few lights with no ill effects if you can keep your environment under control. Heat is usually your biggest enemy. Too much heat and your shit will run like a track star.

Here in Oregon the best flower is being grown in light-dep/light-assist greenhouses.

Optimal temp (if you can manage optimum humidity without any localized high(wet) spots) is approaching 30C 80F, I would back off to 75 at 45%RH in late flower. (I'd rather run a tad dry than set up a good environment for pathogens).

I run a lower rh for the last half of flower, 40% because of a mold experience. I've had a few people tell me it's too low. People that haven't had it don't understand.
