Just caught up, cabs looking nicely packed and stunning pics as always.
Shame about the mould i get loads of it outdoors, i find it always starts at the single preflower then spreads .

Also mouldy bud goes in the bin/fire as you did never ever make anything out of it.

Due to my mother being seriously ill, I have very little spare time to continue regular updates to this diary, I will post updates as and when I get the time.
All in the plants are doing fine, mould issues are now sorted as far as I'm aware.

Sorry to those following the thread.

Please don't post well wishes in this thread, I want to keep it on point. Thanks.

Glad your mould issues are sorted man. I've only had it once and luckily I caught it early. It's the devils work is mould :fire:

So did you throw out the OG with the completely non-toxic grey mold (bud rot) on it? Wish I'd been there to take it off your hands. Would have washed it and had myself some good OG. Just washes right off. Pick out the really bad spots though, like if it's mushy. Probably wouldn't taste great.

@BobCajun yeah binned the lot m8, if it ain't right I ain't using it. I no others would. Got plenty of full jars here so no big lose to be honest. Lesson learnt and all that. Not something I would even give away, at would just feel wrong.

Cabs full of Blue Cindy atm, once harvested I will be changing over to full hydro for the winter months as normal.

Some reviews I read of the OG did mention bud rot being an issue. Gotta keep good air flow I guess. Personally I haven't seen bud rot since I mixed HPS with LED. I guess the IR dries the buds more than LED with no IR.

@BobCajun the problem I had was with the new cab I built thinking that the passive vents would be enough for the airflow, it is now running with a 6 inch fan feeding the passive vents. Problem now sorted, can't blame anyone or anything else, was my own mistake. Nothing to do with the leds in anyway, not my first outing with leds as the only light source.

The OG can suffer as stated the buds get rock solid and big, the Blue Cindy buds are even more dense and bigger but seem to be more resilient to bud rot, as they harvested just fine.

Hopefully the end of anymore problems, live and learn as they say.
Thanks for taking the time to drop in, always appreciated.

They were looking good in the pics too. Shame they didn't make it. Yeah passive ventilation won't cut it.

Very nice journals and thank you for inviting me over! I read through both of your journals and I have to say that I'm pretty convinced that these boards get the job done.

A few questions I had we're answered along the way, particularly your average temps and the experienced opinion on canopy distance to the lights. If I get the hlg550, at what wattage would you recommend I run it for a 5 x5 flowering tent? Should I expect to be running it at max power for optimal yeild and if so, how detrimental will that become to keeping good temps? I'm planning to run an 8" filter/inline fan and I'm hoping to pull in ambient environment temps through intake ducting. Do you think I'll need more than that?

Thanks again for the invite and I hope your mom is doing well.

@Dumdumdummy I reckon using hlg550 you will indeed need to run it at full power with say 30inches above the canopy. Now that distance is so you can get the light spread to cover the canopy in a 5x5. In reality growing (not bench marks) I would really say you would need to use an hlg550 and a 250 watt kit to give you the best possible results and run each board at 100 watts each so 600 watts total and be more efficient. This will still have a couple of hundred watts spare to use if the plants are healthy and can take it. A setup like that will be a 1000watt de killer. If you can build a kit up yourself it will work out cheaper and give you all the control you should need. Honestly wiring the kits up really is easy and would take no more than an hour to do. Your 8" inline filter will keep the temps in check perfectly fine, but I would advise using a 6" fan to also pull fresh air in from the room your setting up in, more airflow will help keep the plants happy. I can run the boards in my cab at 600watts and max temp in the hot summer was 26c (6 inch hyper) pulling air in from the house and extracting to another room.
Glad you found the journals helpful, yeah my mum seems to be on a slow recovery, your thoughts are much appreciated.

Little snap shot of what is left in the flowering cab, all G13 Labs - Blue Cindy mini sog. Can't recall how far on these are but will update all that info shortly.

Once these ones are finished, I will be installing the 2 site rdwc system and off we go, scrog time again, hopefully without the dreaded rot.

Do you have something to keep the water cool in your RDWC?

WP_20170914_18_41_15_Rich.jpg @ttystikk Yeah I have done a few grows in dwc without the chiller, was a nightmare. This cab was designed from the start to have either flood n drain tray, or rdwc setup installed. The setup wont be in the cab for at least another 4 weeks as there is plants in flower atm in coco. Have test plants in two dwc buckets hooked up to the chiller in the veg cab for a test run atm.
Will be starting a new diary once everything is setup.
Flower cab below. Left wall has a built in wardrobe in a different room, which is where the res and chiller is going.

Thanks for stopping in always appreciated.

Ok folks, i have not updated in a while, been otherwise occupied.

The last lot of Blue Cindy Sog plants ended up produces 1.5 ounces on average per plant.

So that was 11 x plants in 2 litre coco. Rock solid nugs, they would do damaged if used as grenades lol. I blasted a month old cured nug and fuck it taught me how to suck eggs on a new scale. No rot and covered in crystals.

I'm happy with what 400watts can produce, but can do better. No idea on overall yields from start to finish of this little experiment, either way I'm pleased.

On wards and upwards with the next couple of grows which I hope I can manage in dwc.

I'm taking a break from diaries for another month at least, I have stuff on the go but won't be documenting it as I just won't have the time to put into it like I would like to.

Cheers all.
