You bring up what half of this subforum keeps ignoring.
If someone is truly a patient in need of medicinal cannabis they are probably not able or even want to have to build something. Especially with how tiny, fragile, and toy like led components are.
We need more grow journals of off the shelf systems without all the DIY criticisms
Well said

@OneHitDone I totally agree I hate how people are cob nobs now and if you don't have a question about this cob or that or a thread about cobs no one cares. I've answered so many posts were people that didn't bye the newest tech just sat around getting made fun of for not getting what all the advertisers wanted them to buy. Unanswered and ignored I almost hate where this forum has gone.

@Hybridway keep the journals going I love seeing this kind of vertical system so sexy and elegant. I always thought simplicity was what we were always after. If all I had to do was sit down and stand up five minutes later and my butt was wiped. That would be the shit!!!

Electric efficiency is very important but so is Photosynthetic efficiency. Just as important to me.
The SunCloak is a good combination of both I feel. It illuminates the entire plant 3-D, utilizing the whole plant. I'd say that's pretty efficient.
Hopefully I can get another run going within the next few weeks.
Here's some plants vegging for the next LED flower now under my Select-Spec T-5.

As you can see the row of small ones. They are cool new strains I replaced the C-99 & Sttawberry Cookies w/. So, I'll have 4 plants that are way behind come flower but that's alright cuz I don't have a big led room anyways.

Things have gotten so mean spirited here, this place is suppose to be about helping each other. If anyone has the least amount of growing skills you can grow this plant with just about any light source. LED has three big positives, efficiency, longevity and adjustable spectrum. Who uses it depends on a few things, environment, space and budget,it's not for everyone but when it fits those criteria there is no denying the results.

I know. When I came here using Amare & SunCloak, not many even gave me a chance. The ones that did turned out to be real cool people. I was greeted w/ a bunch of hate & guys that didn't grow telling me my lights sucked balls. Didn't understand why. Maybe my theories as to why now are a bit paranoid as these guys might say. But, I've been here long enough to see the patterns. So, I have come to my own conclusions. Maybe I'm wrong. I'd like to think so cuz that's pretty dirty.
Now I'm laying back & not getting involved. I feel the results from these lights are all I need to be concerned with if I want to help people understand how they work. And that's really why I came here after using RIU to educate myself before my purchases.
There's allot to be learned if you're new to LED. I think LEDs so cool in the way that you never really stop learning.
Back to transplant! Peace!

@OneHitDone , what's up w/ your vertical grow? Would you mind showing us some pics? You got me wanting to keep this thread going & do another run here. I'm planning for it now & will be wiring the led room w/ 220 next week.
I gotta hit Doug up from SC so he can send me those 28k blades I mentioned earlier in the thread.
He's a great guy to deal with. He cares about your grow with his lights. I've experienced first hand from Hydroponics Hut what it's like to buy from a company that doesn't care about you or how the light they took your money for performs. I never felt so beat as I did after speaking w/ them I regards to how poorly their light performed. It made me realize that there really are LED grow light companies that intentionally rip you off, n bend you over in the process. No lube, no kiss or nothin! Just pure rape! But more like getting roofied by the claims so you are more willing. Lol!

All that being said,I believe your plants benefit from all the side lighting. I've done some grows with about 50% of the light coming from side lighting with great results using less efficient LEDs. I'm still a believer that max efficiency is a good goal if your environment is suited for it plus it's good for the earth. I've been know to roll in the mud with trolls.

Rolling along nicely over here, about 2 weeks to go on this test batch and I am in the middle of more construction.
Gonna be 2 5x5 vert boxes side by side with 4 plants each so I can just veg them right in their final homes and have 2 batches going staggered :hump:

Please continue as I will be trying a vert grow soon and would like to continue to see you grow with this setup.

Results from The SunCloak 4416 in a 4'3"x4'x4' space:
568 g / 1.26 lb.
-.71 GPW
There actually was more material then this but it was popcorn & is being used for oil/wax.
I'm going to do another run & have better plants for the job. I know I can do much better then this with some properly vegged plants & a different strain possibly.
Good bud though! Very crystally, high in terps, & dense. That's one thing I noticed. Even the smallest lil buds were dense. I think I remember someone saying they were curious about that factor earlier in this thread. Allota medium size buds.
Great smoke, yes, even w/ the Apocolypse. Don't notice at all. I used a weak mix seeing how I was so far in & it worked.
Co2 averaged about 700-900 after having an AC issue & switching to the stand-up. Better then nothing, I actually grow at 850-900ppm in my HPS room & do quite well.
I'll be doing a follow up thread on this light again under better circumstances & my attention to the grow. So, stay tuned. The next grow will be far better!
Thanks everyone for being here & please don't judge this light to harshly from this grow as allot of it had to do with me & my plants.
Not to bad though. Recap, I last grew 2 GG#4's in a 3'x5' space (if divided) w/ 11-1200 watts of HPS & got 1.5 back. The Cloak gave me 1.26 @ 800w after week 2 of good bud. So I'm happy. Watch my work next time though! We'll see this baby pump it out.
Threads still open for chat & questions. Hopefully I can keep it going soon w/ the next grow. Building the new room now as this one was only for these led comparison test grows & is already torn down.
The Amare & SunCloak will be in this new room but deffinetly not the Hydroponics Hut as it did worse then you could imagine.
Hope this helps someone! Peace! View attachment 3684609View attachment 3684610

My plants do very well with 100% side lighting.

This shit is top secret over here. Don't you know I have been testing a light with the possibility to yield 4 units at 242 ppfd? :P
Kind've! Ha! No I didn't know it was secret. Was wondering why your 242 PPFD thread didn't include type of light n how you got that PPFD figure. I'll have to go over there n harrang you for these secrets! Your buds looked pretty big for such a low light level. Is it because lights coming from both sides fairly even? Is it them cobs you got in a DIY?
How'd everything work out with the Johnsons? Got them up n running yet? 2, 300watters? Keep me posted! Interested to see how you like the new lights!?

Thanks! But this light can do way better. Last run had some of issues. Those crappy plants didn't do any of my LEDs any justice.
My buddy gave me the broken branch that I cloned all the plants from & I believe his had bad genetics. I ran the same GG#4 but from a differant mom in the HPs room right before this led run & it was better genetics.
The owner sends me pictures of other people's grows w/ this light sometimes. Here's a few. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg
It's deffinetly a neat system. Allot can be done w/ trellising in it, making for a fun grow if you put some time in. But it's pretty low on maintnece really. I just threw them in n let me do their thing. Gonna do way better next time!
