First, how much clearance is there between lights and plants/ How far can you raise the light. Also depends on the strain, are you dealing with a indica or sativa? I grow a 60% sativa hybrid and it gets outta control, if I put it into flower at 18" it will be over 5ft when done, but my indica stays over a whole foot shorter when put into flower at same height. As for Budding a little plant under CFL's the lower kelvin ratings(2700) is for flower while higher(6500) is for veg. Ya wanna try and get the higher watt bulb you can get really. I am able to get 65 watt bulbs without having to go to a hydro-store which isnt bad (Lowes) and just get a T to put 2 on each fixture. You want to make sure the plant is well lit up and the bulbs are as close as possible without touching or burning. Catch ya later:joint:

I have a question. I am new, this is my first grow and I have 4 plants, 3 different strains. They are under a CFL atm until they are strong enough to go under my 400w HPS. My question, I have them in a mixture of pearlite and vermiculite and no soil. Well, using home depot, lowes, and my local nursey, what kind of soil and nutes should I buy? I am flat broke atm after dropping $350 for an air cooled light and I am gonna get some cash in the next few weeks for the bigger buckets, soil, etc, which won't be so bad.

So whats a good soil combination to get and nutes that I can easily buy local?

Alrighty, First I would check you local nursery for foxfarms organic soil or something similar by foxfarm. If thats not an option go for scotts brand potting soil with no addatives from home depot, cheap as hell to. Then add about 20% perlite-not miracle grow brand anything, it all has bad nutes. As for nutes thats tough, I have never found anything worth using for cannabis at home depot. I have always ordered nutes online from a hydro store.

I've got several heat-stressed Hermie's, and I am at a loss as to where to place them? With the Ladies, with the Studs, or in their own area-outdoor, 1/4 mile apart, if need be. One Guy said he got all females from his, I collected seeds from one. I don't know if I'm coming or going. Any info would be highly appreciated.

Sorry for not being more specific, I assumed common sense would show that this is for indoor marijuana growing questions but for those with none this spells it out.
Do you know any good sites for plant environments, cuz my plant was stolen last night from my boyfriends house and I'm getting some seeds to grow another plant INSIDE instead of in his backyard. PLZ post sum links, or give me some advice on where and what to get to make my own environment.
MWAH!

I have a baby going right now and had a couple problems with my MH bulb, so ive been going between MH and cfl and hps. now its on my hps and im planning on switching back to MH once i get a new bulb. Keep in mind its only like 1-2 weeks old

No problems bro, best to always keep things the same, but many people have veg rooms and flower rooms with diff lighting it isn't an issue

Well it kinda depends on strain, and how big you want your plants to get. Personally with the sativa dominant strain I am growing now I dont do more than 10 plants for my 1000 watt room, but I would have no prob doing 14-16 indica plants if I wanted. I would prob shoot for 4-6 plants. and they can get 3-4 ft no prob if necessary.

Quick question...... would a 150 watt hps and about 6 - 27watt cfls (100 watt equiv) be enough lighting to grow about 2-3 plants? I plan on getting another 150 watt in a few weeks

G'Day. I have a 600watt HPS Super Output Light. Can I just start growing in soil under the light. I know about the light spectrum, cool blue for veg and amber red for flowering. The light is high in the amber red spectrum, but I'm wondering if anyone has just grown under a HPS and not using a Metal Halide light? Thanks

it will be a fine start for sure, you should check out my CFL grow, I did 6 plants under about 700 watts of CFLs and a LED UFO, so you should have no prob specially if you add more CFL's / another HID.Try and get some of the bigger CFL's, Lowes has 64 watters for 17$ a piece, and they work great, 300 watt equivalents, biggest ive found in non hydro stores.

Sounds like the beggining of nute burn, flush your res and just run plain water ph'ed correctly. Then after a few days when new growth is better start a less aggressive nute treatment. Pics would help me 100% identify the prob though. Can ya give me more specs on the grow as well?

Yes it's fine, though some people use the blue spectrum of MH for vegging HPS will do fine. Many people will only use HPS, as duel spectrum ballasts are more expensive. If you ever decide to veg with MH just get a conversion bulb for your HPS ballast. The one thing ya want to avoid doing though is flowering with MH, that isn't recommended.
