Mister Monkeychief Sir May I Enlist Your Vast Wealth Of Wisdom In Helping Me Solve A Question Thats Been Keeping Me Up Late At Night. If You Have sex With A Hooker And You Dont Pay Her Is It Considered A)Rape Or B) Shoplifting?????? :peace:
Wouldn't be rape because it was not forced. It wouldn't be shoplifting cause u didn't unlawfully remove it from any private location. Hummm. It's only a misdemeanor like not paying for a movie-rental back in the old days since u rented, used it, but refuse to pay. lol.

Some great advice and obvious that you've done some homework on this. It's a huge playing field and there are many vendors more than willing to take your money and run, caveat emptor (buyer beware). That said, there are some respectable lights out there for the money and as Edge said, we are growing weeds, it doesn't have to be complicated, nor do you have to be a brain surgeon to grow them. Personally I've bought some of the LG's and for the money I'm happy with them, but I'd have no problem calling a spade a spade and moving on if they didn't work. I have 2 of those (crap) panels as well... live and learn.

Thanks. I've spent a lot of time and resources in the last 6yrs. playing with leds so I've had my fair share of being suckered by a lot of these bs in this business. I think there's an intentional spin that's generated by the bad guys in this business to convince us it takes extra expertise and bells&whistles to grow our girls. Yes, every plant or strain for that matter, will have different characteristics that must be learned in order to maximize performance. But at the end of the day, our girls are just another plant species that need the same basic elements to reach full genetic potential. It's not that complicated, if u can grow tomatoes, u can grow our girls with the same thing and nutes. Like I said, I'm not here to promote anything particular product rather just passing my actual hands-on observations for people to utilize it for whatever purposes.

haha potential buyer here... far from unconfused since subbing to this thread. the amount of info in your heads on the subject is impressive. i have three 4x8 footprints that i would potentially transition over a year or so from t5/HPS combo to an all LED setup. sounds like there are many options varying in price by the thousands. think ill wait a bit longer till i feel more confident in a move. ill definitely stick to this thread n read all the info as it comes :)
This is my reward for putting up with all the unprovoked, abusive attacks. To see that people are better informed to keep this industry in check because they're sure in the hell ain't gonna do it for us. Good luck and love to have u join the led world in the future.

What's the top led for around $550? Any hands on experience with Lush Lighting? I saw subcool using. Im really close to buying and need a real good yielding light. Or two less expensive lights. I would like to do a 2x3 scrog. Maybe Six 3 gallon pots. Going led to avoid heat issues. My closet grow room is too hot with 600W hps. Too much cooling power. I'm asking a lot for a first post, but I really need good advice
I really hate to recommend a particular make but this one will trump anything in it's price range. A comparable exact brand-name goes for $799 and u can get it for bout little over $200. It will have a par of of 1716umoles@12", 885umoles@24", and 447umoles@36". respectfully. 2 of these would blow the doors off anything in it's class, period. If u use a white spec. it will pull as much as 270w each panels. Please PM me because I don't like to posts makes and get accused of pitching products as I get nothing out of this, period.

)1715 umol @ 30cm , and 885umol @ 60cm, 447umol @ 90cm

Can be cut in every 3 LED chips without damaging the rest Strips View angle:120° Working Voltage: 12V AC LED Quantity: 150 or 300 leds/5 meters Output power: 20-24W /5 Meter Working Tempreture:-20 to 50° Waterproof Luminous Flux:540-600 Lumens/Meter Diameter: 177mm Weight: 250g
I really don't see these growing weed. I think the work involved to get them to veg a plant would be a pain in the ass. There are probably quite a few reasons why they won't work, but I'm just one voice in an ocean of opinions.

oooh....monkeychief, beautiful grow brotha man. Do you know which factory makes the green light on the left? Have you ever tested the #'s between the different switches [modes] before? I have looked at these in the past and i like the setup, especially with reflectors and not lenses, kudos!

Would be interesting to know some of the intimate specs that are usually not provided with that particular type of light. Epistar's maybe in these too?
what intimate specs would u like to know? Maybe monkey can summon some answers from the spirits? Lol. Don't hold me to it though, but he'll try his best.

Here's what I know and have proven to a point...

Red and Blue lights were not developed for mj, but for other horticultural uses. The fact that someone jumped on R/B leds as a selling opportunity to mj growers (and used phony/BS to market them) has set led development for mj back a few years. It's been an uphill fight to reeducate people ever since.

The strangest part is, mj growers have used WHITE lights SUCCESSFULLY for decades. Their primary issues being heat and electrical consumption. But hardly anyone mimicked them

Our beloved MJ (a weed) will grow under R/B, BUT, it won't produce all the goodness that it is capable of, and quite likely future generations of mj grown from those seeds will begin to show signs deficiencies- much like people being predisposed to illnesses that their parents had.

Quite simply, a cooler spectral balance (but still having some red) is preferable for vegging. My hot5 6500s makes for tight nodes, and the 2900s make for very nice nuggz, but so did the plants I grew under 2 x 90w ufo prototypes (3500/5000K= ~ 4250K) that Jeff gifted me- full disclosure required.

Once buds developed, I added 4 @ 3000k ~ 16w 4 ft tubes, from previous experimenting. The plants looked fantastic until I screwed up when I added 200ppm of Sea Crop minerals, in addition to my full spectrum Hydroponic Research V+B nutrient. Within 2 days, the leafs curled up and dried out beyond recovery. I quickly dumped and flushed, and still ended up with a nice result, just not as much as I would have.

So, I have personal evidence that a well balanced light/panel should be primarily NW (~ 5000K) but with an extra o/o switch to add ~ 30% red in the form of 580-650 (~ 3000K). IMHO, the jury is still out on 660 as most 660 emitters suck, and >90% of PSR happens < 660

Hmmm, sounds a lot like A51. And clearly Apache Tech produces fantastic results, though I am not certain whether they have a red switch

Now, obviously the quality of the emitters matters, but we can get by with decent quality whites, as long a the spectral balance is there

Most of you reading this thread know that there are some awesome DIY grows in process using only NW + WW high quality cobs

Here's an awesome thread that Star Dust Sailor recently started:

I question the wanna-be led cartels in the leds business and my credibility gets immediately questioned.
Calm down. I challenged your veracity not because you "questioned the cartels", but because in each case you either matched or trumped the person you were responding to. I was tempted to post something about my 300' gold-plated yacht to see if you'd owned one too.

So here we go again. In Post #2424 you described an awesome light that would meet OutofLEDCloset's wildest dreams.

"I really hate to recommend a particular make but this one will trump anything in it's price range. A comparable exact brand-name goes for $799 and u can get it for bout little over $200. You "really hate" to recommend something but you do it. And you want OutofLEDCloset, who has a total of one post on RIU, to PM you because you get accused of doing exactly what it is that you're doing if you make recommendations out in the open.

That's bullshit.

This forum is supposed to be about open discussion, not poaching the innocents looking for advice.

OutofLEDCloset, if you're still here, you should post back with whatever monkey's pitching you.

Ok, sir. Even though I knew there will be reaction like this so how am I supposed to handle this situation to your liking. Let's do this. I will never ever recommend anything again because it wil be construed according to a person's belief be it good or bad. So I'll let OutofLEDCloset answer u how he/she thinks I should proceed. I encourage the audience to decide foe me cause I'm really tired and turned off by this display of envy, pre-meditated prejudice, and just outright backward thinking. Seriously, what the hell do I have to gain from this and if I'm not allow to answer questions then what is the purpose of platforms like these are for... To promote biased, unfounded, self-proclaimed thread experts. U really think I can benefit in anywasy participating in discussions like this? Monkey's tired of this bs, really people. What the hell am I doing wrong or am I offending anyone. Regarding my pasts, yeash maybe I tend to ramble on often because I'm highly medicated and have actually paid attention to my teachers and willing to keep an open mind to learn because no one knows everything, sir. And by the way, if there's any other doubts u have, I'm more than happy to disappoint u or anyone else that pulls this kind of bs when I didn't provoke anyone.

No, I don't have one of those as it's hella ghetto. Maybe for u though. I never like to perform self-fellatio, but am forced by individuals like u that challenge a person just because the have the testicles to question and buck the systems. And by the way if u ever had any kind of education, you will know that all major colleges require more than grades but also excel in extra curricular activities. So because I've experienced life that makes be a bullshitter, right. All people who said they've traveled and experienced many things in life are automatically full of feces, correct sir. No, this forum is not an open forum according to u so please don't contradict yourself.

I never matched anything, sir. Let's refresh your distorted mind or memory.. I brought up my Lambo cause another person just happened to foolishly picked the wrong subject which is cars because I used to own Streetwize Autowurks as I instructed anyone who wish to debunk me it's all spelled out and instructed already so be my guess and drop this silly worthless idea. U will continue to attack me and I will continue disappoint u and anyone else that wish to pull this crap. Humans, we're so pathetic !!!

In my experience Mello's questions have been well aimed and answering him helps everyone learn. Monkey if you know of a revolutionary LED, by all means lets have a look at it and we will give it an honest RIU evaluation.

fprgot. Regarding the visitation of the factories. If you were not so blinded by prejudice, u would noticed I asked EH if he's ever been to china and the factories before making any comments so he answered me. I asked him that becasue I've been there and know and have seen first hand how their country has turned into a super power and factories that will dorph our average brand-names in comparison in both size and budget. I then answered him in spirit of the conversation so if u didn't pay attention then please don't make these groundless accusations.

That's what I tried to do and I get this so why don't u take the issue to this person. Like I said, let's be democratic bout this and let the people decide cause I'm tired of this kind of bs, really.

Wow, I ask a few questions and you go into a histrionic rage.

RIU has a sub-forum in the Cannabis Cafe if you're into self-fellatio. Probably best to keep it over there.

Of course you've owned a car dealership. It's all coming together now. That would explain the Lambo for sure.

All of that's just a sideshow.

The fact is you latched onto a first-time poster and immediately suggested a private discussion where you'd "recommend" a light that would blow away all the competition at 1/4 the cost.

Well? We're waiting. How do we find out more about this killer light? Or do we all have to PM you individually to get in on this fantastic deal?

Monkey, I read this over and over before it finally occurred to me... did you mean to say "highly educated" instead of "highly medicated"? Considering this is RIU, "highly medicated" could mean almost anything....

You need to learn to use the "reply with quotes" button monkey....push it at the reply you would like to respond to...then type your message under it...simple, and makes it much easier to follow you.

I would also try and condensing some post...not a 2 line post every other minute...make on good broken up/thought string post. Otherwise 2 post worth of information is dragging this tread(and others) pages long.
