thinking of going coco !?!?

ok i've done a few grows now and think ive got it pretty much down with soil but i want to improve my grow op n step my game up. i think hydro or aero is still a bit beyond my reach and a bit awkward locationwise so i want to stick with something relatively easy.

long story short how easy is going coco??? what changes nutrient wise if any will i need to take into account?

the canna site said 'This substrate combines the tolerant, organic nature of soil with the precision of rockwool' does this mean ill have to start PHing my feed cos if so i may as well go hydro?

and its re-usable, (disposing of my rootballs is becoming a pain)

all advice greatly appreciated RIU!!

:leaf:Don:leaf:

any advice

I'll post em here... Wait til you see these things... From 3" to 3 feet in 3 weeks LOL and they are budding beautifully considering they are SFV OG which isnt really a high yield strain... and keep in mind they are in 1 gallon pots :)

Cant wait to show you, you're going to dig it.

You can check out my current grow in my journal. I am growing in coco and have had wonderful results. I am using a line of nutes specially made for coco.

yo boneman! checked your grow out man and DAAAAMN thems some fat girls!!
+rep:clap:

so i tried to make a few mental notes as i waded through the 27 pages of backpatting!! coco coir n perlite 70/30 mix bmo super plant tonic, monkey juice and humbolt county 'gravity' did i miss anythin?

do you reckon that the massive bud production was down to strain and nute choice as opposed to medium choice or is it all 3???

I too have switched from soil to coco coir at the suggestion of a friend and never thought to ask him or anyone if there was anything different you had to do (in regards to nutrients or PH). I assume if I wait long enough someone knowledgeable enough will answer the question here.

My gut tells me there is no difference, but then I'm no expert.

coco is great

the new 'dirt'

and its a hydroponic medium

some bonsai'd mothers that have been in that same cup of coco for about a 1 year now...maybe less...i pruned them wayyyy back

im so much of a coco-head/coco-nut that i've changed all my medium over to coco-something. even my hydroton...i've replaced those easy-to-lose-balls with coco croutons....as you can see, they fucking love it

i only use Canna coco...THE best, imho

if im not growing aero and no medium....its coco baby

and oh yea, coco allows you grow a muy grande plant in a tiny container

awesome dude thats pretty much what i wanted to hear!! those bonsai's are tiny ! great work man, a few q's if you dont mind?! do you use ph tester n any ph buffering stuff? can i use coco instead of soil without using a hydro setup like as if it was just soil?

im a simple guy n just want the best i can without it getting massively complex ya dig!

easy-to-lose-balls with coco croutons.
Croutons, giggles.

I gave a shot at coco, and wound up tossing the plant. Took a while to to get used to the coco (as a clone from an AG) Then once it was 'happy' it grew very slowly. At flowering time, it was 1/2 the size of the soil plants. But bushy as all get up! Now I didn't use 'coco nutes just some GH maxi series with some epsom salt mixed in. Is that where I failed?

The other Q I gots is which coco? I've seen ultra fine, course(small chips and stringy stuff) and now 'croutons'

quality of coco would come to mind asking that question

as far as your nute...you dont necessarily HAVE to use coco specific nutes, but it does help. it could be the way you watered, pH, etc etc...gimme more info

which coco? well i love Canna Coco....the best imo...

quality of coco and low ppms come from shores without saltwater, blah blah and how its rinsed, dried and 'cured'
