CFL Wrap Around

Okay, I have question here, which I'm really hoping someone can help me with.
I've heard of people finding 70 watt HPS lights for their grow room. Now I already have enough CFL wattage, ruling out buying a 250 watt HPS, but one of these 70 watters sounds perfect. Now the thread I found where someone is using these lights, there's no picture of the light or any explanation about these, rare, 70 watt HPS bulbs.

I'm assuming these are the HPS shop lights you can buy at Home Depot, and places like that. Does anyone have any experience using these? How well did they work?
Thanks

I like cfls unless you wanna move up to a 250 or 400 watt hps
the excess heat just doesnt seems neccesarry
I like lots of 23 watts on a Y kinda thing works well
whats your ventaltion system?

The grow looks great btw
is the revived plant growing well?

Honestly from what I've seen it looks like nute burn to me. I've been using straight Miracle+Gro with pH'd water.. seems to be doing okay?

Ya, I probably should just suck-it-up, and buy a good quality PH test unit.

A major part of the reason why my shrub plant only stretched 4" was exactly that had topped it. twice. So it had 4 tops it had to grow, plus I'd topped only 2 days before going into flowering, this seemed to really stunt it.

Not sure if I'll lose much yield do to stress from the topping, but the, even light coverage, and the more balanced spectrum seems to be making up for it. Although this plant did not start vigerously flowering right away, so the topping thing seemed to slow things a little at firsts, this plant should be my biggest producer out of the 8. But maybe not, we'll have to see. Topping has not undenyibly proven to produce more bud, it depends how you take advantage of the plants new shape I think.
Nice grow going man GL with it.

Some strains might take topping a bit harder and need more time to recover but it looks like you've got more than 4 strong bud sites going for multi colas. If all that "sideways" growth was mainly along one stalk you might be talking about closer to 12" of stretch. Who knows...Short uniform plants can use the light better and if they do I'd think you'll end up in the black in the end.

As for the lights, reptile lights are not so good. And in flower, I believe more 6500k light is still needed. For future reference, since you have 172w of 2700, I would have half of that in 6500. Then the reverse for veg.

Hey Irg, thanks for the info, and the link.
I was wondering if anybody would notice I haven't been posting picture of that giant sativa I was trying to revive. It was coming along, it even had a brief second stretch of about 2" when I re-induced flowering. I threw it out a week ago because it was taking up too much room and flowering way too slowly.

I'm posting some pics of that older Shiva, I'm going to harvest her tomorrow. That will have made it 52 days flowering.

Thanks Illegal Smile. I'm going to take your advice and stop using UVB bulbs. I had some decent results with repti-bulbs, but I couldn't say that it was helping anymore than a regular bulb would have. Thanks for letting me know 6700K lights also emit UVB. I liked your thread on balancing your light spectrum, and the importance of blue light, it's all been really helpful info.

I went shopping yesterday and picked up a few things. I'm planning on redoing my entire setup. I have some F'n Blue seeds I'm so excited to try. I'm going to downsize in oder to do a totally stealth grow. I'm planning on using a cabinet or small entertainment unit, fitting it with my 130 watt bulb + new reflector, using a bubbleponics system), using bending or LST, and finally balancing my light spectrum with a couple 6700k bulbs crammed in. The chamber will be a medium size, capable of flowering 4 decent sized plants.

When I start my new thread featuring a building a super stealthy box, DIY bubbleponics, and Fucking Incredible X Blueberry genetics (F'n Blue), I'll post a link to it.

For now here's some of those other ladies:weed:

Alright, I harvest 1 plant today.
here's a brief recap.

53 days flowering
21 days veg
grown in 1.8 litre plastic bottle
from a clone of a Shiva (idnica dominant) plant
2700 +3000k light mixture
MG for veg, then for flowering: micronutrient solution, bat guano, Molasses, and organic mix solution.
I expect a modest 5-7 grams high quality organic bud

Stay tuned, for F'n Blue seedlings and more harvest very soon.

Ya, maybe I'll do a smoke report, I dont really read them myself, but I'll do one now for anyone who visits this page.

I have already harvested some of this plant in my previous grow. It was decent smoke. It was a really good flovour, and a medicinal kind of high (somewhat couch-lock). This time I did use a different organic mix (Botanicare Pro Bloom), along with my regular Bat guano and Molasses. I may not be getting massive yields (although some of these next plants look really promising) I find I can always get really flavourful tasting bud. It probably helps that a pick strains based on flavour, not THC%.

Hence my next grow is a Blueberry Cross. I dont even know if I've ever smoked any Bluebbery before, so I'm extra excited knowing I could possibly losing my Blueberry V-card.

I've smoked many weeds before, but hardly ever did I know what the strain was so I could have smoked it before, but this time I'll know for sure, and know it was all organically grown, by me, using a newly built bubbleponic system. I just really hope my bubbleponic tank works well, but I'm confident it will. I feel I've learned enough from this cite already to start doing this.

The 1st and 2nd images are of Shiva plants (what I harvested) I found online. the next are of some of the equipment I just picked up, and the last is the High-Times award winning F'n Incredible.

In my war against the Mites I had 1 casualty. It died from a mix of the mites and the pesticide I think. But I figure sacrificing 1 plant to kill most of the mite infestation is worth it.

So I'm down to 6 plants. But all the rest appear to be pretty healthy and are starting to swell up. These plants have 2 - 3.5 weeks left in flowering.

Other than mites, where I live is going through an intense heatwave, which makes my chamber sit pretty steady at 90o.
The mites and the heat are the main things I want to do better for my next grow.

I smoked some of that 1st Shiva and it's still a bit fresh, but a powerful smoke I'm happy to report.

Well if a 10/10 on the couch-lock scale, is: having your entire body go numb and tingly, where the only way you could possibly get up, is to get chocolate chip cookies. Then Shiva comes in at around 7.

I sprayed a few fan leaves with a pesticide again, just to kill any lingering pests from who might have survived from lasts weeks spray. i dont like to spray during flowering because you can kill your plant as I just demonstrated last week. This time after I sprayed and rinsed my plants I flushed as well. Instead of dying, a couple plants seemed to have increased their bud growth substantially, I'll post some picks tomorrow, I'm amazed how much bigger they are than 4 days ago.

Another reason this seems kinda funny to me, is that the temp in my grow chamber is a woppin 95-100o. I know I need to get this temp down fast, but my area is still in by a massive heat wave. Today was the highest temperature EVER RECORDED for my area. My chamber was at 99o all day. There's almost nothing I can do because my apartment is 95o inside.

I was wondering if you can use pots that you can see through.....does light hurt the roots!!

In short, Yes. The biggest problem is that when light can get to the moist area where your roots are growing, algae begins to form. I had 2 Diesel Ryders in transparent pots and one was 5.5" tall, the other was 6.75" tall at harvest!! They were WAY stunted and there was lots of algae growing around the roots. But I got 472 seeds and around 11 grams of bud of them haha.

Best thing to do is paint the outside or wrap it in duct tape if you have clear pots.
