Was wondering if you are attempting to Mainline these or is it just that you topped and are lst'ing them? Nice and lush plants by the way.
Just plan on Lsting then out and around the bucket so i can get some nice short bushes for flower, figured id get a shorter veg time with this method.

IMG-20130201-00500.jpgHey Guys, i've got a bunch of 3.78 liter (1gal) plastic bottles i've been collecting. What's your recommendations on how to block light? I duct taped one of em, is that the best/cleanest/easiest way? Online search I heard about spray painting black rubber? Thoughts?

Its so much more difficult to tape them when they're empty. I found out the hard way.

Black rubberized paint is prohibitively too expensive and still may rub off after a couple of runs.

'Cali' is correct, Gorilla tape is the best. The Hempys buckets will last forever.

Do u have a dollar store? Honestly the time/cost to tape those things isn't even worth the effort. You can get opaque 1.5gal containers for a buck.

These are tentatively what I'm going to use for my scrog. They are about 1.5 gal like my blue bucket and there will be 3. They seem kind of small but when I see what my other one did I think they can handle it. My thoughts are, what am I going to use as a tray? The red plates would probably work ok and I might be able to slide them out still for cleaning. Worst case I throw a towel in the plate to soak up the solution if I need to flush and the plates full. If I go with something deeper I surely won't be able to remove it. What say all of u.
When I used individual catch trays I tried using a sponge but it is a pain. I later went on and used my wet/dry shop vac and it worked great.

newworld,...good to see you pop in. You gave me advise one time about not needing perlite in the hempy res when using mapito and you were right on...you were also one the few to comment about it here on RIU ....with not a lot of experience talking elsewhere ..could I ask about your experience with mapito and/or hempy? Got some grows or links to such? We are hungry at WOH...
Well I tend not to comment too much but I'll share what I have learnt with mapito, always let the medium dry out between waterings whether in veg or flower, this injects a lot of oxygen to the roots, when you water...do so plentifully so the entire medium is saturated and deal with the run off in whichever manner you choose. This applies to hempy or standard pots! I personally use the hempy method though. The time it takes to dry the medium out will depend on temps, lights, pot size and plant size.

In flowering the first 2 weeks feed heavy then flush well for the 3rd week and ease off the nutes a little at a steady EC 1.2 till week 7 or your last week. I grow solely under LED so my nute schedule is simple, I use only seaweed extract and nothing else, my clones get an EC of 1.05 PH 5.5, vegging plants EC 1.2 & PH 5.5. Flowering plants EC 1.4 PH 5.8 then back off to EC 1.2 PH 5.8. Flush is tap water at 0.6EC PH'ed to 5.8. When I used HID I would up the flower to 1.6-1.8EC with veg PH at 5.5 flower at 5.8. Feed one watering flush one watering. Flushing periodically is what I consider the secret. It also helps when recycling the medium for new pots which I do about 6 times or until it gets too fine and you will notice this as the medium feels compacted to the touch when in the pot.

Sorry but as always I am reluctant to put up pics but you can see pics somewhere in dawgs area 51 thread in LED lighting. I use 1 litre air pots to clone and veg to around a foot, then throw into flower in 2.5 litre pots. Between 9 and sixteen plants in SOG style in a 32" sq area but I am also doing 4x bigger longer vegged plants at the moment instead. The object as always is to produce 1g per watt under 250W LED panels. I have 4x panels so this is reproduced every 2 weeks.

Any questions please ask.

Finally got most of the girls tranplanted into their 2 liters. Here, the right columns are the Plushberry and the left columns are the Qrazy Train. I have some Cali Connection Blue Dream Haze in the middle (topped)

remaining Qrazy Train clones needing at least another week veg. I didnt realize one of my qrazy trains was male. So, I had to cut a couple more clones and they wouldn't be ready in time. Oh well, I still have a bunch going.

The 2 liters are sitting under a 400 watt MH and will be flipped on Sunday to 12/12. I just wanted to get them transplanted so that they would be ready for the flip post any shock. They are all being fed a mixture of Lucas 2 part with Floralicious plus, roots excelurator, and cal mag.

Hi Icon, what do you mean by ...

to me it reads like you don't use base nutrients. But that can't be the case ...... can it ?
Sorry I can see how that is confusing, I'm stoned! I use a product from elixirgardensupplies that has a NPK of 12-08-10, it is essentially a base nute made from seaweed and nothing else.

A few pics:

Looking great Dank. Its cool to have another 2L hempyneer on WoH. ... its funny you should mention Root Excel; ive been thinking about trying this now Ive got my base nutes figured. ....

When you flip 12/12 are you gonna switch to a HPS lamp?

edit:
Last time you finished on MH?

Thanks Moebius. Believe it or not, you inspired me to get the 2liters going. In transplanting these girls, I could see the difference in root mass from using roots excel. Most had already filled the bottom and swirled around the cup and they only vegged in solos for 2 weeks. When I flip to 12/12, I'm going with a 600 watt red eye hortilux. I picked up a dimmable 400/600 over Christmas and I've been itching to fire it up. There's going to be 30 total under here. Massive buds to come soon dipped in purple!

edit:

last time was a 400 watt HPS. I took some pics using my lumii glasses. That's why it canceled out the yellow.

I believe you are right about a shorter veg time, as even in soil to mainline the longest I've gone in veg is 52 days. After this first bucket grow with Hempy that I'm doing, I'll give mainlining ago as I like the yeild you can get and the compact space you can do it in
.

My pleasure and thank you. I use the rough chopped coir but both are great really, my supply just happens to be the coir version.
same, I get the coir. but was expecting foam. not bothered.

One bag I got had really warm patches inside. When I looked closer I could see signs of mold. I guess it was beginning to anaerobically compost, it didnt make any difference though. ..... still rocks.

Im also keen to try some of the coco coir mediums. Never used it straight but from what the other guys on WoH are showing, its a winner too.

edit:
The best thing about this hobby is the choices ... Different mediums, strains, nutes. etc etc ... certainly lots to explore. :weed:
