Why the hatred for Autoflower strains?

Okay brother man imma try and break it down good and simple for you while keeping it short and sweet it is very difficult to keep an auto in veg if nearly impossible without hormone treatment so there for it is out of the question to take clones and do several test crosses to determine if the plant is homozygous or heterozygous there or making it much more difficult to stabilize an auto strain it is not impossible but if you ask me it's like hitting the loto to ibl an auto you would have to mysticaly get a male and a female with homozygous Dom or recessive for all the traits you desire further more you can not do a back cross with the original parents making the proccess of stablisation even more difficult
Ok, I'm not a breeder, but I understood enough to know it was not AS easy to do the selection. I do indeed stand corrected on that front, no doubt, as I did not realize it would be, well, as you say NEAR impossible. I do have one question, though... wouldn't I make it somewhat easier to do a good run of, say 20-50 seeds after doing the crosses to get the ruderalis stable, and then sorting those as closely as possible into different pheno's (females ONLY to be saved from this point on) by sight and smell and those that seem to grow faster (in the end, bigger) (again, I would leave this to EXPERT breeders obviously), and use hormones or CS to feminize the plants with strongest, most desirable traits, and keep the pollen from those that turn out to SMOKE and test for strong cannabinoids, and THEN go through another larger run using this femmed pollen to ONLY pollinate the plants looking / smelling / growing the same....and then repeat for a few generations until you could at least get closer tho the "mark",as it were? It seems to me that would somewhat simplify the process... I realize it's not a TRUE back cross, but, hey, it sounds logical to me...

Also, there seems to be MANY auto strains being tested in the HIGH teen to 20 percentile range... that's DAMN strong in my book. Or do you just feel they are lying about it?

Mephistos Alien V Triangle has been tested at 25% THC and their Toofless Alien 21%, they have come a long way in the last few years....here's a couple of Alien V Triangles I have on day 32 from germ
Wow! you got a grow thread for those? They look FANTASTIC!! Also what company did you purchase those from, cause out of three UK distributor's sites, only one had Mephistos seeds and showed no autos for them...

@TaNg PeNg You have any experience with Skylar White from Mephisto? Couldn't see it in your youtube channel. Skywalker x Walter White, got a couple as freebies from Mephisto.
No bro that will be one of the small runs they do as a special, have grown their Walter White which was a frost monster In fact any of their strains with 'The White' are frosty as....growing their Skywalkers now and they look great.

Go to Mephisto direct man. It seems the pricier option, but they really take care of you. Or, try seedsman. That's where I was gonna purchase from to get freebies, however they don't carry the latest artisanal strains.

Yeah, I figured as much, fingers crossed for them then. I saw your Walter White grow, and I'm subbed to the Skywalkers. I'm not sure if its Mephisto's breeding or your growing skills but your plants always look insane, super sharp leaves pointing up to the sky. Any tips for the Mephisto's, or is that a tang secret? Ha

Gothcha...thanks! I'll see what I can do. Skywalker has Apollo 13 genetics, does is it not? Been itching to try an auto with those genes, also AK ThunderF*** genetics are hard to come by in an auto as well. Any leads on that you know of?

Ok, so it seems the consensus is auto's simply are not as potent as, and dont yield as much as non-auto strains. Fair enough.

But one could then argue -- all strains that have thc level below 23% are bad, and all strains that yield less than 40g/plant are bad -- but we know this not to be true..
Nothing has compared in terms of yield from my "think different" grows, in just 75 days from seed to harvest I average around 10+ ounces per plant. Best all around high i ever had, dream land euphoria..just the way i like it. I run mh throughout the entire whole grow at 400w veg then bump it to 500w flower. I also love autos because they are a very strong plant, I never had a bug problem knocking on wood. Photoperiod plants almost always end up with some type of infestation.

Interesting observations. I've never had decent luck with strong autos, I kinda gave up on them years back. Regular photoperiod seeds are the only way I grow now. I've had nothing but success. But everyone has different tastes and environments. Sounds like yours are more in favor of autos. Which certainly makes life easier for you, and thats a good thing!

What i meant when i said "strong" was not potency but strong as in growth. It has a great high but potency is just a tad under photos. I still mainly grow photos for this very reason. If i could give think different a rating with ten being the highest i would give it a 7.5. The c99 im smoking now i would give an 8.7. Not much of a difference but a difference.

C99 auto is about the only auto I would smoke. C99 is a staple strain. But yea, I hear ya, you meant strong growth.

I've been on a WiFi kick lately, and Sour Jefe. Those are my go to strains at the moment.

I've done more research on stabilization of auto type strains and they do back crosses with male photo type strains that they have done test crosses on to know the pheno types and how they are passed down

I've got four Black Crème x My mostly sativa poly-hybrid out back now. If they turn out anything like what we pulled from the tent yesterday, they should be interesting. Had a darker purp pheno and another a few shades lighter that just reeks up the room.

Because of this, if they are not babied you are rewarded with a bud on a stick, 70$ seed pack and I'll be lucky to get a quarter oz total.
