why do noobs ask questions and dont try to figure out the problem on there own?i mean that theyre like help help i need help.they need to learn independence from the computer and learn on there own, thats what makes the experts know so damn much, and arent worried about there probs, cus they experiment and figure shit out for them selves and learn from it.

Heh, first off i'm a newbie.....
I did try and following the Jorge Cervantes 'Indoor bible' and had done rather well, but there was a point at which i needed more help, whilst the hydro shop offer advice of sorts, i later sought advice from the net. Idk why i choose this site of any others, but i have choosen, and i see no reason in which to change.
To date, the answers to my primative questions have been beneficial, and justifies it's important for a newbie.
*Just specific to me - My common sense is off the scale, i have very little, so it would be logical instead to assume others might have already applied common sense and have experience, and what better forum than an effectively anonymous one.
So we ask questions as it's a logical step on the grand scale, as the site grows in members the more questions will come up, but in turn if the advice is of good use, there will also be a wealth of helpers able to take your place.
Unless you created your set-up from scratch with no help at any point till harvest, you too would of been part of the learning curve dependant on others at some point.

Did i mention i was a newbie :)

I'm not a pro, but I have a couple small grows under my belt and I have learned a lot in the process.

Personal guidance can be the best form of learning a person can receive. You cant ask questions and show your pics to your Jorge Cervantes grow bible. You can learn something SOOOOO much quicker if an experienced grower says "your plant is nitrogen deficient" and "might be hungry for nutes" if you don't have the faintest clue. Growing weed is almost like a trade, and there are 'trade secrets' to growing pot just like any other trade. Most everyone learns news things everyday no matter how much of an expert they are-when working in the field with peers(any trade) Idk, I'm going off on a stoned rant..

The whole piont of this forum is the sharing of knowlege. I consider myself one of the more experianced growers here, but in comparison to some people here I'm a noob too.I learn new things here everyday, and , hopefully, I have some things that I can teach. Of course often the answer to a new members question is just "check FAQ's" but still sometimes I just answer if it's a simple fix, especially electrical questions where safety is an issue. I wouldn't have made this site my home if it wasn't for the really useful info here.

I want it to be known that i cant hardly stand any of you, like even less of you, :mrgreen:and am still more than happy to help with new growers probs. We have all been there. We should all be thankful that there is a place for the new growers to go and talk and ask for advice.
If we all stopped and checked for unanswered posts once in a while, even if we all only did one a day, we would be helping quite a few fellow growers that need it.

because at some point they were uninformed like you and didnt know what to do so they did the same thing that you did and looked for information via the internet or other sources. Im sure you didnt just pull out a hemp seed put it in some dirt and magically grow an amazing strain of weed where the plant had not a single deficiency or imperfection the entire grow. and Im sure you had help or asked questions whether it was online or from friends.

so.... you were a noob once too. NOOB!

It's like re-inventing the wheel. If the knowledge is already out there, it's pointless trying to learn by trial and error. Research on the 'net (the largest and most easily accessible information resource *ever* in human history), read some books, then ask some questions if you need clarification. One look at the FAQ here and you're already on your way to becoming a competent grower.
Once you have learned the basics (or 'the rules') for something, you can then experiment with what you're doing and learn new things that you might be able to pass on to another 'noob'. :blsmoke:

I agree with this, but alot are too lazy to be honest. I think sometimes they thnk that its faster to ask than to go to a grow faq or to a book. I personally read and searched enough to know the BASICS before I start my own grow. But as 1 person said to me, "you can read and read all you want but if you actually haven't done it of course it sounds difficult." I can understand asking noob's asking electrical, plant problems and real problems as such. but for example people like GP420 or better yet on the curing and harvest section, there are like 5 really really good threads on the subject BUT, there are still hundreds of questions of how and whats the best way, you think these people searched? or back to GP420, 5 different people gave him the same advice 5 times over and still didn't get it til way after he actually read. I think these are the people this person is talking about, not Noobs in general. Another example would be where to get seeds or who the trusted seedbanks are. Whitewidow woman did and excellent thread and would have found it if one had searched but you get all these dumb frickin threads asking the same frickin thing over and over again. These are the people you want to defend????? you guys in the knight in shining armor want to defend retards that are too lazy to search???

I'm not saying I'm a pro either but if you look at all my posts I rarely ask questions because I don't need to because I really searched. Growing has to be in your heart and when its in your heart, you will do everything possible to learn and try not to fuck up on your 1st grow. People that really want to grow would take a real initiative and go and at least get a 20 dollar grow book or read a site from front to back before asking any questions. if you read it and still don't understand, then that is a different story but this is usually 99.9% not the case.

I say a real beginner grower with passion should have/carry enough knowledge from searching and reading to have no probs with there 1st grow until they have his/hers 1st plant defiiencies. I mean I made sure before i asked a question that I would search and make sure it has not been answered before in whatever site that your in first of all so I do NOT embaress myself and show I really have interest and not a lazy retard that just wants to grow cuz its cool or he thinks its a get rich quick scheme. When you are asking questions that the sites grow faqs have answered or every grow book has answered, you deserve to get burned.

The point is to really read and really search. Just because the answer is not there on the very 1st page on the site does not mean no one has asked your question or your answer is not there. On every cannabis site I have seen there is a search and there are sub-sections to look from and a search button on those sub-sections.

You think even the pros want to answer the same basic question 10,000 times when they they could have just searched? even just type in a frickin KEYWORD! Gimme a break you guys.

I say you ask a dumb question you get a dumb answer or worse yet, get burned.
Act like a dummy and I treat you like a dummy
Where has this generations common sense has gone??? how do you think the pros get where there at? ita all reading and searching and trial and error. Not asking stupid basic questions that every cannabis sites GROW FAQS have already answered, I'll tell you that much.

I think some people just like to hear it from a human. Solid blocks of text can make it so boring sometimes, If anything marijuana is about fun and socializing. What better way to learn than asking questions to mates or people on a forum. I know nothing about growing. I have watched some youtube videos and read the FAQ.

I think you'll find most people already know the answer, they are just looking for confirmation that they understand it. It's not a problem.

I agree Jimmy, sometimes asking someone that has already done it, helps a great deal. We were all newbies at one time. RIU has so many great growers and so much info here, why not share it.:peace:

Right on point jimmy.....I hate that go to FAQ bit...I've told people to read FAQ, but I always TRY to help 1st...Some here seem to brush off people like mosquito's.
They can't be bothered, they're just above such a low level task...I bet they were
curious noobs once too.
Plus anyone will tell you that having a sounding board is better than the hunt for info. It seems everyone has encountered problems that are nowhere to be found in FAQ.....

tried to rep but no go

I think the point is to seek out all the info you can first. I see so many newbies here that jump into planting bagseed with a incadecent light hanging above it with a shriveled plant going what did I do wrong?? I spent almost a year reading and gathering supplies, lights and all neccessary equipment(though mostly used time to read read read) Until I felt I had a good knowledge base, and I still had many probs along the way I Had to figure out and fix. Eventually I came to this site looking for experienced growers but honestly havent found that many( though I know they are here) Point being we should be helping each other become more advanced growers, especially if posting in the experienced growing section, not explaining the basics of plant life.

I hear ya on that 100%, but would you call a mother that puts absolutely no effort into preparing for her child responsible?? I sure wouldn't, I wanna have the parent that has a nursury all ready when I am born and at least has a good idea of what to come. But can call upon mom(the expert) to help here and there.
