You can get a 600 watt dimmable digital ballast, MH and HPS bulb, timer, ratchet hangers, and sealed hood for $158 on Amazon.

I'm actually using this exact setup in a 4 x 4. No complaints. I found that 1000 watts was too much and I wasn't able to keep the heat under control.
That looks one cheap piece of shit, check the paid over the top review on that link : "I have only used the light for a day and already it is working amazingly."

What can I say. I have plenty of money but I'm a tightwad. Found out years ago that the best way to keep your money is not to spend it unnecessarily. Been using it for six months. It's more than paid for itself with the amount of product it's produced. Lights are a disposable item anymore just like televisions. The internal parts for the ballast are all made at the same place. Some just have better fit and finish. I would rather have a cheap HID than a cheap LED but that's just me. The light that I linked to was within the OP's budget but I didn't take into account the cost of a fan and possibly carbon filter.

There are plenty of cheap used ballasts on craigslist but those magnetic ballasts make too much noise. I have a couple I'm not using because of that reason.

The thing I see I cannot have any extra electronic item, like a ballast would be an extra right? I just don't have a lot right now sadly so just looking for a light I can plug into the wall without it causing a problem. Lol my SO has lights with ballasts and it says good but he had to get industry wall outputs and I cannot do that at all lol it's in my room guys :) I am getting my greenhouse installed this jan, with heater, vents and a lock on the door muahah

No, no, just no. Stop looking at these shitty blurple lights. They're junk.

Like I said before, if you can't afford a proper cob or pcb(quantum, sunboard, strip) led, then just get a 600 hps.
Ive just read the hps isn't good for small closet grow is all, my buddy switched to led and it made his grow a lot better; but that being said I've only used cfls to grow indoors. I'm going to get both, my SO is going to lend me one of his hps and I'm going to grow two strains under it, then with my led grow the same two strains and compact the differences. Hear is my biggest worry and power outage. I have a tv in my room I need on at night to sleep; insomnia and sleeping disorders shit.. so I have only the one outlet to use, basic plug. I do belive that the hps would be great, but I'm a person of trial; so I'm interested to see how this will go :)

I won't get a cheap led thoigh, I'm getting one with warranty and good - amazing review plus visual videos and swing my friends closet grow with sog, I'm impressed lol

So most know my garden was shredded by scalpels and immature people who don't know what they're doing.found bits and pieces of immature bud around my yard, scalpel and a pack of gum.. lucky I found pieces I can clone, hopefully..

I usually post in the outdoor, but not I'll be growing inside this winter so I need a little help.

I am on a budget, growing outdoors is was cheep and indoors is the complete opposite of that..

I have space for 6 autos or maybe 4 decent sized plants like my outdoor ones. I'd like to get the outdoor size, indoors..

Any help would be appreciated, I'm going to grow an auto regardless, so I just need to know what would be more beneficial to me at this point.
Also, I have a few clones at 8 months old from my ..once was plants. Ugh so mad. But moving in and need a little help to do so.

(I'll post measurements of my closet when I'm home)

So anyone who has done a closet grow in about a 4x4 space maybe more again haven't measured.. can list what they did to start out, moy lighting and placement, ventilation; I am pretty wise for my age, so I also have my own research to do and have done. I know I'm looking at those t5 lights, my neighbor used them and loved them.

Just depressed and want to get back on the horse asap :)
That sucks,
Ive just gone inside due to a mould issue last season.
I'm in a 4x4x7 tent. I decided to go the 600w HID route for warmth in winter. (They are inexpensive, reliable and work)
I found the 6 inch extraction fan was not enough so ended up having to get an 8 inch when the cheap one failed. I will probably have to replace the 6inch tiny carbon filter soon and buy a decent 8 incher. Lesson here is cheap stuff doesn't last..
Humidity was a problem for me in veg over winter, a dehumidifier solved this (around $180 from memory). I just use the same soil mix as I used outside.

One great thing about indoor is that there is way less worry.

I'm very sorry, and send my condolences. If it were possible id invest in a very large canine. adopted animals are very protective, and actually a small to midsize mutt does the trick most of the time.

I'm not sure what your asking here but that kit comes with a ballast and you just plug it into your wall socket. (with a timer of cause- kit even comes with that). You don't need industrial outlets.

Hps is the best you can get, bar none. They just get a little warm if you don't have an exhaust fan. But then again, good cob lighting will do the same, as will the 315 ceramics.

If ventilation is not an issue then get the HPS, yes they plug into a wall outlet and power draw should nor be a problem. Hopefully you have enough money for a scrubber or a lot of people will know your growing lol. Also I would not super crop an auto.
