also mixing of other nutes arent recommended. It is better to stick with just their additives
Agreed. I'm on my third hydro grow and the only problems I have run into using H&G is when something else is added to the solution. Following the feed charts but adjusting EC as needed for the strain, I've done well.

no i have never had that happen. my pH is stable as fuck...so stable i barely even check it anymore.

also DO NOT use h2o2 in your res with H&G

you WILL be spending more money (h2o2) to waste the money you already spent (your h&g nutes and additives)

roots excellator IS your h2o2. just way better and way more gentle
Thx LoudBlunts for puttin me in check. I had delusions of grandeur there for a moment. I thought I was a veteran grower. From now on it keep it simple stupid. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

your problem is your tap water.

H&G feed charts are based on RO water, preferably 000ppms

you should always run 1/2 strength if you are using tap water. especially 300ppms worth. IMHO
I guess my tap water varies a lot. I checked it today and it was 180. I'll have to keep a close eye on it in the future. Per your advice I backed down my nutes to 880 ppm by adding 40 gal of water to the mix. I adjusted the pH down to 5.8 and it seems to be stable now. Thanks again!

I posted the following info in another thread, but it really belongs here. So, my last grow was made up of 14 clones taken from a single Purple Lady mom. I wanted to see how placing cuttings directly on the table compared to rooting them in the cloner first. 7 clones were rooted in a bubble cloner and 7 were placed in RW right on the table. The first thing I saw was that the cuttings in the cloner took twice as long to root, which I figured was due to the fact that I was running Roots Excelurator on the table but not the cloner. H&G says the R.E. is not for cuttings and seedlings. I then took seven more clones and used R.E. in the cloner and the rooting just exploded.
I used 1.1ml per gallon, just as I would in my ebb/flow and the rooting time was cut in half. This is good stuff for cloning as well as vegging.

you mean instead of using something like clonex cloning solution.....

you just use plain water and roots excellator?

I use Rootech gel when I take the cutting, but in the cloner I only used RO water and now Roots Excelurator..

Oh.. and one more thing.. HG gives out some real sweet sampler packs you just have to know the secrets to getting them! Call the techs over at HG. Start a conversation with them about one of the products. Try to seem smart and knowledgable. Tell them something like.. "I've used GH (or Canna which really seems to get there panties in a wad) for 10+ years". "I have heard very good things about your product but i am very skeptical of changing from my current nutrient line, that i know works very well." something along these lines. At some point they should offer you some free samples (which are full size bottles, not the little 50ml ones) and BAM your in the game and saved a couple bucks. Someone try it and post back with results!!

I emailed H&G and they sent me to http://www.humboldtwholesale.com/ and Brad (http://www.humboldtwholesale.com/) had me pick up some FREE samples at my local Hydro shop. They gave me root stimulator, A&B, and Shooting Powder not small bottles. I use distilled or PH my rain water in Fox Farm.

Good point. I have two small systems (Megagardens) that only hold 7 gallons. I followed the directions on the shooting powder and dropped my EC to 1.2 before adding. I calculated about 20 grams of powder to the 7 gallons would maintain the correct dosage and my EC shot up to 2.2. That's quite a jump.
I do think that H&G's feeding schedules are rediculously high. I'm cutting back on this second grow with them and results are improved.
How do I use Shooting Powder if I'm trying to mix less than 25 gallons of feed water?
Here's the trick: Fill a one gallon container (like an old bottled water or cleaned out milk jug) 2/3 full with luke-warm water and add one sachet of Shooting Powder to it. The Shooting Powder will fizz and bubble. Wait for the fizzing to slow, and then top off the water. Put the lid on the container and shake to ensure the Shooting Powder is fully dissolved. This gallon is now an impromptu Shooting Powder concentrate.
Now, you can add 151ml of your new Shooting Powder concentrate per gallon of feed water! It's just that easy 151ml equals 10 tablespoon

The other way you can do it if you have a scale is to add 2.6 grams to each gallon of water. That's what I do.

I contacted the head of H&G for Aus & just mentioned i been using canna for about 9 or ten years he replied saying he wanted me to try the new products and would send me a trial pack. So i will be doing a side by side grow with full canna and full H&G once it arrives. i will start a thread, ill post a link once i'm all organised.

thanks madazz:weed:

because the sachet contains 65 grams of shooting powder. when you do the math, you get 2.6 :p

you can also use a half teaspoon per gallon!!!!!! when under 25 gallon for the first application.... then you use the 1 teaspoon per gallon for the second instruction dose rate

hope that makes sense
