How hot is it under the halides?

And when you say halides, we're talking metal halide bulbs, right?

rx7 double ended metal halide bulbs as for the heat the room can get quite hot with both running.. ive seen temps up to 29-30 c, reckon that could be the culprit ?

It really depends from plant to plant. But yeah, in general, over 27 is pushing their comfort zone. Most plants love an ambient temperature of about 23-25ºC

Around 30 and up the plant really slows down and "tries to protect itself from dyeing" instead of using it's energy to grow.

Now that we're well into flowering, things happen faster, and you see big changes from day to day.

So here's another photo-update:

My pretty girl, getting a pretty hairdo going on.

The stem bud sites are also doing their thing.

Everything going smoothly. Can't wait for all of these to fill out and bulk up =)

And here's my doubtful one. It's now clearly a hermaphrodite. I'll keep it. One never has enough seeds.

There we see some open banana balls, it's strange though, because you don't see pollen anywhere, but some of these bananas are already pretty opened up. I guess it's still just not matured enough for dusty pollen yet.

I wish it was 100% female, since it exhibits a nice and sturdy phenotype. But I guess that'll be present in the plants that come from this one's seeds. Let's hope so.

SO yeah, I decided I'm keeping everything in theyr spots just as they are. If pollen spreads, then pollen spreads. And I'll get the seeds accordingly.

One can never have enough seeds, so I'll just stick with it.

It's wonderful to see what this little 150w HPS can do compared to the same wattage of CFLs did for me in the past. Can't wait to get to the 600w big league and see what a difference those will do! haha

Today I also bought a cooltube, I want to have my system in a more controlled space, and this way I can lower the light even more, and have the girls absorb all of those glorious lumens! =)

Hope you had a great weekend, and hope you have an awesome week!

Enjoy!

Be careful with those s33ds if she is a true hermie. Those s33ds will be prone to go hermie on you as well.

Yeah, I know, it'll be a reserve batch of seeds =P

I just hope I don't contaminate all my budsites in that box (I know it's prone to happen) If I have too many seeds I'll just randomly throw them and create loads of guerrilla grows xD hahaha

You might try picking off the naners as they grow. It sounds like you have a full hermi since you're seeing them so early in bud. From what I understand if you just let it go your grow will be full of seeds... seeds that will produce nothing but males and more hermies.:-|

hmmmm.... now I'm stumped =P

I've been picking balls out.. but I'm seeing so many of those that now I'm really considering taking the hermy out of the box and just leaving it at a window...

But that way I probably won't get much bud from it... but I wouldn't get much bud from either if both of them get pollinated in the box... -.-

I'm lost for what to do... HEELP! =P

What ever your going to do please separate it asap, I wouldn't want to see them both go to seed.. all it takes is to miss one or two pods and its game over

I agree with JC. Get it out of your box as quickly as possible.....and I mean QUICK! I'm sure your other plant will end up with some seeds but it is still young and will produce a lot more good bud if you get rid of that hermi Devil. If you don't have anyplace to put it then get rid of it.

You are seeing the long nanners right.. maybe some open and yellow inside? Can you zoom in and show us what you are seeing?

Minor update guys,

Just separated the "girls" the other day. Sleestack stays in the box constantly. The Devil's Weed has been moved outside the box under 2 x 45w CFLs. Also, as soon as bright sunshine comes through the window I bring the plant to the window and it LOVES IT!

So yeah, now I'll have a semi-outdoor plant xD hahaha kidding

Also I've been constantly scanning the Devil for balls, and have been removing them as soon as they swell enough for me to spot them. So far no pollen dropping, so I'm hoping I can keep it pollen free till the end. Fingers crossed.

Anyway, here are some pics:

Rubber-banding Technique TM xD

And to think that just a few days ago this was all just a tiny seed.

-

And that's that for now.

When do you reckon that the buds start to swell? around 3rd week?

CAN'T WAIT! *-*

Looking good man. Everything looks nice and healthy. Except for a little burn here and there.

Swelling usually happens around the fourth week for me.

Actually I have a bit of both... Some look like balls but are just really swollen calyxes that sprout a tiny pistil at long last. But I've been seeing a lot of bananas spreading out. and those I pluck.
Next round of pics I shall take some extreme close-ups so you can see exactly what's going on around these parts =)

The rubber band thingy is just a way I came up with to get leafs out of the way of sunlight. Without damaging the plant tissue directly.
I was reading on fan leaf plucking, and how the "experts" like to defoliate to make for a bigger yield based on more sun-to-bud exposure. But also read that most of the defoliation process will also minor-shock the plants into tissue reconstruction mode. So I got the both of best worlds. I rubber band the fan leafs to minimize shade. And I don't damage the tissue.
The rubber banded leafs tend to yellow out slowly and fall on their own. And I haven't seen any slow in bud development, so something is working the way I thought it would! =P Great! haha

Thank you guys

i think you should just get a 250w bro with a cool tube and a inline fan you wont have to worry about much heat and you can find them pretty cheap on amazon and ebay

I would get a 400 watt with dimmable ballast, that way you can dim it down to 200 watts or go 400 watts if an upgrade is wanted.
