But if the lights always running and your not neccessarily concerned about max yield. Thats my predicament, end of the year it'll cost more for electricity.

Well, if the 730nm takes off even one day, then that's 12 days of 13 hours on that are covered at no extra cost. At four days, there is almost no net cost to running the extra hour.....but, does it take four days off?
It definitely takes off one day if you run lights at 13/11 with the addition of 730 at lights out. I wouldn't be surprised if one could get as close to harvesting seven days early in comparison to without the 730nm. In other words, what may typically take 67 days w/o 730nm may only take 60 days w/ the 730nm under the 13/11 approach.

So one could not only possibly save money on electricity but have bud harvested at an earlier date, as well as having a quicker rotation of crops in a given year.

it only seems to improve yield if I run 12/12 first 2 weeks then switch to 13/11. The last 2 weeks switch back to 12/12. Running 13/11 straight just takes longer to finish with out much yield improvement.
Interesting input. After looking at my log from my last grow, I noticed that I didn't implement the far red bar until around day 10 of budding, close to two weeks like you have experienced. What I don't remember is if I removed the far red during the last two weeks - I most likely didn't.

I run the far red the whole grow. The induction bulb puts out some 730. The 730 led's run at lights out. I need to get a 730 flood light for the led side of the garden

I'll have to try that method out, of running far red throughout both the vegetative and flowering stages. I take it you've been running this play for a couple of grows now?

Thats good to know, maybe I'll try that out. I actually ran 13/11 all the way, seemed to flower quick enough, just a few days slower than when i was going 12/12 the whole way.

I'm thinking of putting a reef typhon arduino in the next light if I can fit it in. That should allow me to run a few different far red scenarios and sunset/sunrise type things. I'm gonna need a bigger tent...lol

This is what I've done for over two years,only I run 13.5/10.5 in the middle. If I had to guess,it takes 5 to 7 days off the strains I run and I've seen pistils as fast as 3 to 4 days in some runs.

I think I might try this far red business...

Does one of these Osram driven @700mA per 4 square feet sound about right or would it be overkill ?

Not sure how much exactly, I'd just try to spread it for even exposure, your guess sounds about right. Big area could probably use a flood light style with more power and hit a larger area

Actually that's how I came up with 4ft² : with the 80° angle, spread would be very close to perfect at +30cm distance.

I'm thinking 6 of them on a MeanWell APC-12-700.
It would require over 3m of wiring tho, not sure if that's an issue with those low voltage drivers ... anyone know ?

I'd think as long as you have a few extra volts on the driver it should be alright. Theres a formula somewhere for that..

I went a little fast and placed my order, without thinking about size and stars :dunce: No soldering experience here (yet) :/

Is it manageable to connect them without stars ?

Oslon far red ready to be put to the test. Should i really be expecting any different than the ledengin 730nm? We'll see i guess
