Terpinator

I like the fact you are trying to figure out if this product works but there are some issues with the procedures and questions on subjectivity. I do think the testing is the best of figuring out differences. Remember in science, the burden of proof lies on who's making a claim. Testing should help figure out differences, if statistically significant, better than one's nose.

With regards to the procedures, are all constants being applied to both the treated and untreated plants? Is the time to harvest, temperature, clones being the same height or close enough? Is feeding the same for tested/untested? These things matter if you are truly wanting to test the claims made by a company. If anything, claims to the contrary are anecdotes.
Sure, constants should be the same.. it will be different this grow, I'll be rotating them in a perpetual SOG, so this should give me a chance to test many samples.

I guess it would be better to do a double blind test, and all samples but I'm not willing to go that far. I can do a single blind in where I dont tell people terp/non terp products.

Yea can't really do double blind, being the one administrating the test plants. Testing will be your best bet, and again you need to figure out what is statistically significant from the tests, because there may be differences but if you don't run a regression on the numbers, you won't know if it's with a margin of error or if it actually means there is a correlated change in differences between the test/non test.

I'm a statistics nerd, and if you are going to do something, always try to do it right. But I do applaud your efforts even though I don't think there will be a difference worthwhile for the product.

Yeah.. I'm a doubter too... even I cant deny the difference, when I have people saying "where did you get this"?
and I'm getting alot of positive comments on aroma and potency. They have no idea I grew it or it was treated with terpinator.

i did side-by-sides with 3 strains testing out this stuff. nothing scientific, i judged based on look, smell, taste, and frost...no difference in all three. strawberry blue, super lemon haze, LSD.

How did you use it?.. Full ,1/2, 1/4 strength etc.. all through flower, in veg.. etc.. If you read the experiences behind terpinator there seems to be a difference between how you use it, and what medium. How its used seems to have something to do with failure rate, or lack or results.. Read other forums, etc.. (IC Mag..THC farmer.. etc..)

I'll say organic soil untreated smells closer to hydro terpinator treated on my C99 strain.

Anyways thank you for sharing your experience..

i gave 5ml per watering every other watering. a couple times during veg and all throughout flower. i used root organic soil and i grow organic.

I just see the issues of:
1.) Marketing that screams hocus-pocus
2.) Nothing that should cost that much that couldn't be achieved elsewhere for far less
3.) Use of the silly word proprietary. The whole cannabis nutrient industry is just recycling old botanists, and farmers techniques, so why peddle that bullshit line

Terpinators MSDS lists:
CAS No.7778-80-5
Chemical Name:Potassium sulfate

This actually explains alot.. I tasted terpinator from the bottle, because people are claiming its a sweetener, Its not sweet.. Its neutral with a slight salty taste. I however cannot explain the other odors like the apricot/fruit smell.

On the bottle it lists a 4% Guaranteed Analysis of soluble potash from Potassium Sulfate. This explains the low impact on PH and PPM's when added to hydro. The stories of failure seem to be due to low dosing of this already low dose product.

After searching potassium sulfate, there seems to be a difference between potassium chloride and sulfate. The chloride can cause problems for aroma or cause toxic problems for certain plants. And sulfur is a important compound in terpene and aroma compounds.

I'm reading the abstracts about terpenes and sulfur interactions.. techy stuff.. it will take me a bit to understand them.

In essence.. Terpinator should work.. And we have at least identified one ingredient, it does not explain the other odors or the colors of the fertilizer. There is no evidence or listing of carbohydrates or polysacharides in the product.

I still have lots of questions.. why potassium sulfate vs. so-po-mag? There are alot of ways to introduce sulfur to the plant, gypsum.. epsoms.. etc..

Still got lots of questions.. I'd like to submit terpinator for HPLC testing...

Lastly.. the MSDS isn't an explicit ingredient list.. There could be proprietary ingredients that are not listed. I guess they dont have to tell you if they dont want to.

If this is the Green Planet Terpinator? They also sell Potassium Chloride aka MOP as Dense.

It seems the same, I was talking about Rhizoflora's Terpinator. I do not know if its the same as Green Planet. It kinda looks the same.

Potassium Chloride aka MOP?.. whats that?.. I was talking about Potassium sulfate.
