Hey guys quick update here

Flicked over to 12/12 5 days ago. Plants are starting to get a bit of a stretch on. I waited till screen was about 75% filled before I switched. No too much more of the canopy to fill now. Will wait till I have it all covered and then I'm just going to let them go. I'm confident I can get quite close nodes as I have the light 4in away at most. Can get it incredibly close with the cool tube. I'm amazed as I was worried about temps when I stepped up from the 250w to the 400w. Had been using a 250w hps for veg too so I figure they must be enjoying the mh now for veg. I'm still waiting on delivery of my HPS bulb to switch but I'm experimenting with using the MH for the first two weeks of flower as I've heard plants will stretch for blue spectrum during stretch.

Heres my question for the day. When you get a pack of seeds they give you a rough estimate of flowering time. I researched that it is about 8 to 9 weeks for both the strains I'm doing. Does that "flowering period" start from the the time you go 12/12 or when the plants start to show pistils. Reason I ask is that if its from the time you go 12/12 I'd just about have it ready for Xmas.

Not too much to report from photos but will show them anyway

Looking real nice Paddy..

I thought I read somewhere that plants stretch more under HPS.. Could be wrong though...

I found that after 2-3 weeks of 12/12 the canopy underneath needed trimming a good bit..

Thats flowering time thats on the back of the packet... unless the are auto-flowering..??

What fans you using bud..?

So basically its 9 weeks from the time I go 12/12? I'm expecting to do a good bit of trimming. been doing a bit the whole way through/ Im using a 4in hydor on a carbon filter for extraction and the floor is on drawer rails raised aninch for passive intakes. Have a small desk fan blowing underneath the canopy. I figure I may need to get another fan for above the canopy later on

Yeah thereabouts... I've had to add 7 - 10 days sometimes with some strains.
Sounds like a great set up man... Rep+

Looking forward to this grow leading up to chrimbo..

Hey Paddy, looks like a nice setup you got there, I'm really interested to see how you get on with a sativa in a confined space, I wouldnt say many irish growers can be arsed with sativas, its all about quantity here, and fast crops, so +rep :)

Hey prof.

Cheers for stopping by. I'm not a big fan of couchlock stone. Like something a bit lighter but still strong. Never usually get much sativa stuff here. People just want to grow heavy producing indicas that turn you into a vegetable. Using the scrog cause no way to grow sativas otherwise.

Both these strains have a slight indica in them because they both finish about 9 weeks of flowering. Already planning my next effort and touch wood this one will be a success.

Have a friend who has a veg and flower room so started 2 purple haze, Jack Herer, Jack Diesel and Pineapple express. All popped except jack herer and Pineapple express. Gonna leave them a little longer to see. Waiting on beans from attitude 2 Maui Waui and 2 Blackberry. Gonna be starting all these and keeping the strongest as mothers so we can both clone which ones we want for both our grows. Hopefully will be able to select from all these strains and get another scrog going. All seeds are feminised.

Hiya Paddy,

Im really jealous, you gonna have such a great selection of genetics there, and youll be able to pick and choose from grow to grow. Great position to be in. And you have a friend to share the workload, even better. Pity about the Jack Herer, although Jack Diesel should be interesting. I havenet heard about Maui Waui in a long time, brings me back.

But the Strawberry Cough I love the sound of, DP puts enough faith in it to enter it into the Cannabis Cup, so it must be a nice smoke, have you tried it before?

I hear you on the couchlock, I always liked Skunk #1 back in the day, enough sativa in there to keep you up and about, even though you were high as a kite. Not like Northern Lights, say, or Master Kush, although sometimes that heavy stone is just what you want.....:)

Best of luck with your grows, Ill check back in to see how you get on.

Che if you are worried about the stretch and limited space try Humbolt's Bush Master for about 6-8 days. It stops all vetical grow. I'm worried about my Blue Dream doing the same...the friend I got my cuts from started with 12-15" clones that ended up with 5-6' after 9 weeks of flowering. Next round used Bush Master had 4' x 4' plants.

I trimmed all my under growth 2 weeks before I started flowering. Trimmed again 1st week. Your plants are much smaller than mine...

Blue Dreams we about 36-38' took the top 16-18" off and dropped on the screen. I only kept the branched that had grown taller than where I had topped my plant. Now they have grown way above the screen but seem to have good support.

011.jpg Before

013.jpg After...This is the 1st day of flowering right before I trimmed the rest of the under growth that had regrown since I had originally lollipopped. The place I topped is just above the screen. I LST'd some the branches also.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info GreenBudda. I actually have access to some bushmaster so if I do start to run out of vertical height. Seem to be ok for the minute. A week and a half into flower so assuming they will only stretch for another week or so.

About to hit these babies with their second feed. Using the purplemax with the full range of Canna nutes. Will try to use the purplemax at some stage as foliar feeding but want to do it just before lights go off and that means being up at 5:45.

I've been pretty brutal with the removal of foliage under the canopy and even chopped so tops that weren't strong enough to get through. Hopefully this will force the energy up to the tops. Got my first view of lady pistills yesterday. Both strawberry coughs have started but haven't seen anything on the Haze just yet. Not much else to report at the minute.

As always any tips or criticisms welcome.

Temps are pretty good. Run between 70 and 80 degrees. Drops into 60's every so often. Humidity about 50% Dont have thermostat at mintue cause gave a lend of it to fellow grower to get started. No signs of heat stress.

I''m thrilled with the grow cab. Couldnt have worked out much btter

Nice, sorry if this is stated somewhere, but have you grown in this cab before? If so did you ever have problems with humidity? In terms of being too high during late flowering?

This is my 4th grow in this cab. Have never had many problems with Humidity. Never had any bud mold and I dry in the cab too. I live in quite a damp climate so plenty of moisture in the air but never had any issues. I use passive air intake and the cab is quite close to a open window venting in so if I need to drop humidity I close the window.

Theyre looking really good, Paddy. Seeing the size of them now, and flowers only just appearing, they are gonna be huge by the time theyre finished. You sure theyre not gonna get too crowded in that cab of yours over the next few weeks?

To be honest I'm not sue what to expect. First time trying to finish a successful grow with full term plants and not autos. I would be happy if I was complaining that it was too crowded with bud. Its going to be just trial and error I suppose but Im happy to give it a whirl.

Ive seen scrogs where the buds are well packed in and very little space between them so I should be ok. In worst case scenario I'd just clip the weaker shoots and keep the larger ones
