I never got why the seal clubbing was done... Sport? Beating the shit out of something an 8th or a 10th of your size... Why not go lion clubbing? Thats right, because you would get your ass kicked..

sadly enuf..its the easist quickest way to mass murk lil fur seals. If it was up to me ...id train the seals in self defence and small arms...nobody will fuck with rebel seals!

They have to club them, people will not buy the fur if it has bullet holes in it. They could TRAP them, but then the animal suffers much more.

Are people at least using the meat?

I mean, dont get me wrong.. Sounds brutal to just club a seal to death for it's fur. Reminds me of bear baiting over in the middle east.

yeah its kinda sad but they mass reproduce at alarming rates thats why they do it
i read somewhere that if you got a kitten today and left it be within one year out of that female kitten and her offspring you would have over 10,000 + Cats

but also you think thats bad it has bin done to human babys as well not the clubing but if you notice back 30 + years ago it was rare to see a disability on a human baby or adult why is that ???
well when a child was born handicapped they would place the child near a open window as the child would die from phenomia

So let me get this straight:

Mass farming of cattle and chickens, who are caged from conception to slaughter is somehow okay but killing an animal who has lived freely in the wild, passed on its genetic material to the next generation and will now provided for a people whose way of life has been robbed is somehow morally terrible.

Figure it the fuck out

It is a sick thing to do. Stop killing the seals!
i'm as bleeding heart as the next guy, but the seal could meet a much crueler fate.

clubbing seals is highly regulated, too. no killing of the baby and young seals. max quotas to ensure the population of seals continues. food for the local communities plus revenue. i'm certain they use every part of the seal.

would you rather be eaten alive, or put to sleep with a swift bonk on the head? i know my choice.

I think I'll go bet a bat and beat the shit out of one of my chickens. I'll gut the fucker and make a hat out of it. Then everyone can call me peckerhead.

Good point. In that case it is nothing like bear baiting then.

Due to the controversy over the annual Canadian Seal Hunt, Kidzworld is looking at why this hunt takes place and what other animals around the world are killed in the name of population control?
Population Control: Harp Seals

The Canadian Seal Hunt happens every year for approximately two months, from late March until the first or second week of April. During this time, around 300,000 harp seals are killed. Some supporters say that the seal hunt is to control the seal population, which they say is “healthy and abundant” at about 5.6 million animals.. Back in the '70s, the harp seal population dropped dramatically so the government stopped the hunt. However, it was re-introduced in the 1990s when the seal population grew again.

The pups killed are usually less than three months old and have just started to molt (which is when they shed their white baby fur and grow their adult coats). The seals are either shot or hit repeatedly on the head with a club called a hakapik – which the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in Canada says veterinarians have found to be humane – until they die. Once killed, the pups are skinned and their furs are sold to other countries. There are reports that seals are sometimes skinned alive, but the Department of Fisheries and Oceansregulates hunting practices and says skinning seals alive is not tolerated. Another misconception is that newborn seals, or whitecoats, are killed in the hunt, but the Canadian government banned the killing of whitecoats in 1987.

i don't see anything wrong with hunting animals for food and using their skins as clothes.

humans have done it for thousands of years.

if you have to kill it at least consume it.....

if you don't like fur coats don't buy them....
