Well ...
The big-moma 4x CXA3070 Z4 light is ..history ...
(remember ? the white one ... )

Sold !

Yeap ....

It was not good for my needs and ' restrictions' ...

Very good light and very productive ..Yes ok ...
Very good cooling ( at 2.1 A ,with ambient at ~35 C ,none of the four chips went over 59 C -for 12 hours )..
Ok ...
Great so far ...
But way too noisy .... Those 5 Watters ,the MagLevs ( Sunnon ) are very powerful,
but way noisy ...

Truth is ...
I'm gettin' older ...

So ,in my case of getting older along with mj ...
1-2 small ,but very well grown female plants every 4 months ,
will adequately satisfy my personal needs of my life's 'medicine' ...
La hierba mi...

Anyway ...

I need a new light built ....
Not that powerful ...
Able to grow 1-2 small plants...

Something like 2 x Cree CXA3070 AB's .....

And as silent cooling as possible ...
And still pretty efficient ...

An active cooling scheme that ..sounds ..like passive cooling ...

( Ok-ok,just joking ... )

Sounds cool. LOL your scaling down and I'm scaling up. Loving my vero 18 bars. the plants love them too.

I got cheap intel fans and heatsinks. I run them at 9v and even a bar of 4 is pretty quiet.

Larger fans will be quieter especially if not ran full out.

what space will the light go in?

Just for comparison ....

The previous fans used ....( 4x )

Sunon MagLev MEC0251V1-0000-A99

120 mm square frame / magnetic bearings (VAPO)
VDC:12 V
PWR(consumption): 5.4 Watts
Oper.Curr. : 451 mA
Speed : 3100 rpm
Noise : 44.5 dBA
Airflow : 108.2 CFM / ~183.4 m^3/h

The new one ( 1x )

Noctua NF-A14 FLX

140 mm square frame / self-centering bearings
VDC:12 V
PWR(consumption): 0.96 Watts
Oper.Curr. : 0.08 mA
Speed : 1200 rpm
Noise : 19.2 dBA
Airflow : 115.5 m^3/h

You were running them at 2.1A each?

Instead of making a smaller light, why not just run all 4 at 1050mA?
Even at lowest fan setting ( out of 12 ) still the noise was unbearable by my ears
and ....not 'stealthy ' enough ....

You just do not know what 4x z4 at 2.1 A ,are able to do ...
Too bad the grow had a bad ending (timeo ...blah blah ... ) .....

Anyway ..I'll need lots of words and time to describe exactly the situation here ,
at a land which is in a deep crisis (at general ,not just the economical ...)

Many cobs / arrays low driven ,is the best way ,yes I'm pretty much aware of that ...

Other "forces" do not allow this type of built ...
Not just for me ...For almost everybody here ...

Don't ask ..

Small sized and of low power but as efficient as possible ,dimmable and stealthy lights ..
That's is the 'local' custom/DIY led grow lights 'trend' ,in the south eastern coastline of Middle Earth Sea...

The 'known' parts ....

- 200 mm x 160 mm x 40 mm AA 1060 16-fined hetsink .(raw )
-2x Cree CXA3070 led arrays ( 3000K -80 CRI -AB )
-2x Ideal holders (had some spare ... )
-Arctic Silver 5 .

P9251513.JPG
The box .....Dark grey it will be ..(my mood is fine ...It just fits the 'stealth' look (and hopefully the sound )

P9251514.JPG

When austrians surpass the germans ...
Quality is way high ..Even higher of Papst Fans ...

P9251515.JPG
Either I'm getting older ,really means also gradually losing my hearing ,
or I can't hear that silent thing of a fan, standing 4-5 meters away ( 15 feet ) ,no matter how hard I try to ...

P9251516.JPG

Mind Imaging-Prototyping ...Before any other action taken ....
It sits very nice ...
Clerance for screws ..Everything seems ok ...

P9251517.JPG

Hmmmm ..The fan will blow air towards the cxas ....
Yeap ....

I'm missing the drivers only ...

Of course ..
MeanWell HLP-80H-42 ..

What else ?

350 mA - 2100 mA range .....
At ~36 Euros each ....
:P

To be continued ....
In detail ....

Why can't everything be as well thought out as a noctua fan...lol. They are nice in every way...except color maybe.

I found that one too slow for me but I can see how it'd be perfect for this type build!

Maybe a use for them now..

Oh com'on ....

" Stiff's Beige " and " BBQ Sauce Puke Brown" are very ..cool colors ...
Slow yes ....But it moves some serious air for it's 0.96 Watts and 19 dB ...

A GREAT fan !

I think it will handle 2x 3070 ,even as high driven at 2.1A ..

( at least when Ta= ~ 25 C or lower ....And trust me ....
This winter ....At my house ...Trust me on that one ....
It will be way lower than 25 C ...
Say around 13-14 C ...In da house ..
I hope so ....
If it gets lower ...
I'm 'moving' outside ,to the park nearby ....
The homeless people burn papers, carton, old wood stuff ....
I'll bring some food ,drinks and my guitar (+herb ,the easily understood ..) and join-t them ,sharing with them ..
There ,it will be warm for a decent night's sleep ..
...The cxa's can stay at my -frozen -place ...) ...

(Put-in selling gas to Europe ?
Ha-ha ..That was a good one ..
You know the other one ,with the price of petrol ? )

Cheers.
