im not 100% sure on how you should do your trimming im only on my first grow im learning as well n i didnt have ur space problem to need to trim.. but my guess would be to just trim the entire top of the plants down a few inches so they dont get burnt by the light. i just dont know how much stress that would cause now that your flowering.

in my experience males usually show their preflowers faster then females do so you might be ending up with 4 girls and serious space issues.

maybe bend & tie some of the branches to the sides to give the bottom more light penetration and then the bent branches will start growing upwards again towards the light

Yeah, I've read that somewhere about the males too. I think I saw the beginning of more hairs on 3rd plant, so I should know by morning if that's really another female or not. If they do all turn out to be females, I'll move stuff around to get an even canopy and let the tops develop, harvest them, then let the rest catch up before chopping them down.

Day 52. 26 Days into flowering.

Today was a big day.

I was seriously running out of vertical space. My light is as high as it can be mounted. And my plants were all right under it. So bend and tied some things down and bought myself some more vertical space and trimmed a lot of the very low branches and now light and air move around much better in the entire box.

Mostly because I cut down one of the plants. Out of the four I started with 3 had already begun to show flowers and one was slow in development and a bit tiny. So I sacrificed it to make room for the others even though it was probably going to be female too. But now I have more room to spread things around and hopefully will end up better in the end.

At this point I'm just hoping I didn't trim too much off the bottom and that everything will progress and I'll start seeing some buds develop soon.

Oh and now that I've cut the one plant out, is it safe to just let it sit in there with the rest of the plants because the roots are so tangled I'd have to cut off giant portions to get the one short stem out. It'll try to stay alive even after being cut down won't it?

And now pictures.

i still dont think u will have room for the whole grow maybe if you ca get some chickwire in there and loop the stem threw there as many times with you breakin it you might be fine

the stems really aren't flexible enough for that, i nearly snapped one in half just pulling it down a little bit.

I'm currently working on a veg chamber based temporarily out of rubbermaid tubs right now (very similar to yours) and once I start my next round of flowering in this cabinet I'll install a parabolic screen for a scrog to see if that doesn't help out managing next time. And since I'll have the veg chamber working on clones, I won't have to worry about having too many plants in there. I'll probably stick to 2 in the future unless the screen proves to have enough room for more.

I'm quite anxious for lights on in the morning to see how they look after all the abuse I put them through so late in the game. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes out for hermies from all the stress.

So, I'm 54 days into a grow that had started off extremely successful for a first attempt.

Except it's all falling apart now.

I have no more room in my box, even sacrificing one plant didn't quite open things up as much as I had hoped. I have two plants with crimped stems hopefully recovering although they are just going to recover right back into the lamp.

I have burnt leaves and crazy things happening everywhere. It's just a mess and I'm half ready to pretend the last two months of effort and money didn't mean anything and start over with a better idea of the limitations of my cabinet and the growth power of weed.

It's either that or keep bending things and fighting with nature to keep them out of the light. Causing huge amounts of stress and spending the next 2 months praying for something smoke able in the end?

Who out there would save time at this point and just scrap the op and start over? Who would rather only waste 2 months instead of 4and just throw in some new seeds? Or who would keep pushing them down and try to get some smoke out of them?

start trimming some leaves

I bent/crimped all of the tops over today and tied some of them down more. It bought me a little bit of time and space. I plan on flushing tomorrow so maybe I'll trim some away after I see where things are gonna move about and settle.

Day 56 overall - 20 days into flowering.

I think I'm in much better shape then I was a few days ago. I've trimmed and tugged and tied and bent and moved everything around. I have a nice canopy of bud sites and fan leaves.

Vertical growth has slowed drastically.

I wonder how far along I am in comparison to other grows at 20 days of flowering, if anyone has any progress comparisons to show off I'd love to look at more. Post your journals!

I figure I added a good bit of time with all the stress I've put them through getting them to fit in the box that I'm still looking at another month and a half or two at least of flowering. (I'm secretly hoping I get it harvested and ready for smoke by 4/20 so I can test my first homegrown ever then. (yay stoner symbolism!)

Flushed this morning and did a few more adjustments since these pics were taken.

Shopping for furniture for a new veg box is so annoying all the crap is crap and affordable all the nice spacious stuff is way to expensive. :(

But anyway, time to eat some bacon.

hey , I have a similar setup and am half way through gremination. A few questions, how big (litres) is ur resevoir. I'v heard the ph flucuates alot in DWC have u had a problem with this . And did u give any nutes durring seedling stage.

It's a 5 gal / 18 liter res, now that the root mass is giant i use about 3.5 gallons in it.

I didn't use nutes until they were around 20 days old, but i used too much and had to bring it back and flush. I started full nutes when they were around 8 inches tall with several leaf nodes

As far as pH goes, I honestly don't check it often. My tap water + nutes = around 6 on my ph strips, and in the beginning i was testing it, but as i've had no problems indicating PH balance I just gave up checking it since the strips are a pain to read.

yo i just put my clone in my dwc bucket, It's been rooting for just over a week, I'm giving it half nutes right away to jump start the growth, i've read some shit and it sounds okay, just wanted to know what you think of it, also how much H202 did you add to your res.? p.s your grow is looking good

yeah 1/2 nutes sounds like a good place to start with a new clone, if they start showing any signs of not liking it it's easy enough to flush and use a lower dose.

I haven't used any h2o2 yet. The only thing I've put in my res is water and nutes. Since my temps stay low since it's winter I haven't had any problems with adulterants growing in the water yet. We'll see if that changes when the warm weather starts arriving though.

Day 60 overall Day 24 flowering.

Well, It's hard to judge my flowering progress with my inexperience and the unknown projected flowering time of my bagseed but I think things are going well. My lady female parts are quite hairy reminiscent of some 70s porno.

I rehung my lights with some wires and bought a few inches of much needed extra space.

I have some light damage but its nothing major just a leaf or two.

Since bending and snapping some stems they have gotten rock solid and are hard to even squeeze these days.

Nice grow I'm thinking of getting the DWC Grower's Choice Kit now.. : )
I spec'd it out against buying the parts and building it myself and figured out it was pretty cost effective way to get everything I needed to get started right away.

And now with this base system, when I run out of the SH nutes I can just go buy more of whatever brand nutes and some new hydroton and be good to go.

I even bought the water pump and manifold they have thinking I could turn the small system into a bubbleponics dwc, but once I got it I found the 5 gallon tub was a bit small for it, but now I have that lying around for another time.

But yeah all in all, if you're in a confined space the 5 gallon sterlite tub is pretty much the smallest one I've found without being too small. (Perfect for my cab) so I'd suggest it if you're not keen on ordering a bunch of stuff, probably from at least 2 or 3 sites minimum plus trips to walmart and lowes just for the hydro stuff.

Newbie here myself, noticed you were using the Sun System 150 which I'm thinking about picking up. Love the results you're getting from it. Thanks for the posts and pics!
