So i called and left a msg today... and i didn't get a call. This was on a cell, in my wifes name, with an area code in another state. Its pretty obvious he doesn't know who the phone belongs to... he called to find out.

Also, whenever I smoked I always went into my bathroom and shut the door and I had an empty plastic milk jug with about 40 lemon scented dryer sheets wadded up in it with a few small holes poked into the bottom of the jug so that the exhaled hits I took off my pipe would be filtered through the dryer sheets. I took every measure possible to keep my use and grow of herb a well kept secret.
Dude!!! That has to be the most paranoid smoking I’ve ever read. Do you live with your parents? That just can’t be enjoyable and borders on something that is counter to the cannaculture. It sounds like you have a drug problem. You previously said you live in a “VERY rural area on 30 acres of thick hardwoods and had no visible neighbors…lived about 500 yards off the highway behind a chained gate, and the double wide trailer…could not be seen from the road.”

I live in a VERY Red State and right next door to a Sheriff’s Deputy and I regularly step out on our back porch to “burn one” late night (like I just did) providing the prevailing winds are favorable. If you feel that you can’t partake without involving milk jugs and Bounce Sheets then perhaps you need to rethink how you catch a buzz. That’s just my $.02.

PEACE BROTHER!!!!

As far as the OP is concerned. You know they already have your personal info. I'd call them up and ask them about it. I'd answer their questions with a question. Why do you want this information? Why do you ask that? yada, yade, yada. If they get serious, invoke your Fifth Amendments Rights under the US Constitution and retain an attorney.

First off, I had a piece of property appraised at $118,000 that my mom signed over to me when she got sick with diabetes and blood clots and went into an assisted living home. Paranoid ? Yes, and with good reason. Georgia is one of the top 3 worst states in the U.S. to get a cultivation charge, and the county would've seized the property I was given had I ever gotten busted. Also, had it not been for sale of that property...my ass would still be stuck in Georgia because it funded my relocation to Colorado, I had too much to lose on letting my guard down.

Some people can be shit for brains if they want and risk losing everything they own, but not me, and especially not THEN. And yes, that was a terrible way to live and I got fed up with it, and now I can live the counter-culture life because the stakes aren't high like they were, I'm now MMJ'ed, I live in an old cabin that I "RENT" , and now I can relax because I have no property I own. I've seen so many legal stories on here about busted growers, and I mean the non-mmj state growers, most of them get busted because they TALK, or they smoke out their friends...then their friends get pinched by LEO, then the friends start yacking names. I don't know all the details to the OPs situation, but from 2007-to-2009 I had too much to lose by just having a "who give's a shit attitude".

The risk of implicating yourself in something, even accidentally, even if you are innocent. Watch those videos I posted.
My "business phone" gets all kinds of calls per day. The number was previously assigned to a deadbeat that left a string of unpaid medical bills throughout the county. Ignoring these calls and dismissing them only calls attention to yourself. The OP already got rid of any MJ evidence. With that in mind he should get aggressive and inquire why he is getting these phone calls. Ignoring them isn’t gaining any “points”.
Because he was on the Speed Dial of a busted Grow House this guy F’ed up and needs to distance himself. He’s in a delicate situation.

A lot of good advice has been given here so far and I think you're doing the right thing by calling them back to inquire why they are calling you. Just make sure that should they ever get you on the phone that you have your story straight and DO NOT INCRIMINATE yourself. If they want to meet up or 'stop by' respectfully decline. If they get pushy/ignorant/threatening tell them you've helped the best you can but unfortunately if they would like to inquire further they must speak with your lawyer and or gain a warrant. I've been in this situation and the lawyer-ing up was the best move I ever made. I spent $350 and had all charges dropped. Watch those youtube vids Guy posted though, critical info all smokers should know. =)

In the meantime keep that equipment broken down and put away until the heat blows over. Be confident and assert your rights though man, peace. =)

Do you think I could get into trouble just by having lights/ nutes and tubs?

^^^ For sure, think of it this way; an innocent person acts innocent and has nothing to hide. Be that person! It's not illegal to own any of that stuff as long as it doesn't have weed in it. If you are really sketched and not just being paranoid, downsize all you paraphernalia to one piece or a pack of papers or something. Some paranoia is always good, just don't let it get the best of ya man. Peace. =)

hell no, in fact all growers should grow something other than just weed, if only to give more credit to the story of "well i just like growing stuff" tomatoes, mint, lettuce, chiles ect...

if the your door gets kicked in and all you have is lights, nutes, hydro equip and a bong; they'll know that they *almost* had you...

but if you're growing tomatoes or whatever, they will know that they owe you an apology and the cost of your door...

there is nothing wrong with having a hobby and studies have shown that growing plants in your home has a variety of benefits including oxygenating the atmosphere and lowering your carbon footprint...

it always makes me laugh when i talk to growers who only know how to cultivate one thing: WEED, it tells me that they don't really know how to grow much at all...

just my little rant for the day, thanks...

Okay I have read some seriously paranoid BS in this thread...

If you havent spoke with the detective you have no fucking clue what he wants. I have found myself in this situation twice before...the reasons? My friend got robbed at gunpoint in her apartment in Oakland. They stole pretty much everything of value. As luck would have it we had spoken on the phone literally 30 minutes before the robbery happened. The detective called me just to talk...he had already done his homework about me and knew enough to make me feel a bit sketch but all he wanted was to confirm the relationship between us and my whereabouts that evening (which was 500 miles away in Los Angeles).

The second time I got called by detectives was when I broke up a fight at a houseparty. They just wanted me to answer some more questions... and ask if I wanted to press charges (and I got a "thank you" for doing the right thing)

Essentially, just because a cop has called you it doesnt mean that they are targeting you specifically. Ask your friends, did any of them get robbed? Lose a cellphone? Get assaulted?

But if you are worried that your other grow-buddy got busted then maybe you are entitled to your freakout...who knows...But that's why you don't talk, text, or take pictures on your phone about your grow...at least delete that shit afterwards.

If the matter is really so innocent the detective could leave a message asking for the real information he wants. He most likely doesn't want benign information. "This number is connected to an investigation" is code for "I need some more information on you...", and you are voluntarily providing it when you call him back. Unless you or someone you know is a victim of a crime and your participation will help police bring in some real justice, then you have no business talking to the police. It's not a matter of if you can play it cool enough, or act like nothings wrong. The fact of the matter is anything you say CANNOT be used in your favor. It absolutely cannot, there is NO GOOD THAT CAN POSSIBLY COME FROM TALKING TO THE COPS. NONE. ZERO. [/story]

Even if you are innocent you can accidentally implicate yourself in something. I'm sure each of you has as much training with investigation techniques and as much real world practice as the detective squad whose job it is is to literally to this everyday, oh wait, of course you don't. You will be outmatched when it comes to interrogation, there is no 2 ways about it. You will.

Anyone who is advising you to play it cool so you SEEM innocent, and/or to call the cops back is flat out wrong. They have not watched the videos I posted (now in my signature). If you do call the cop back you should simply ask what the matter is about and do not give ANY information. If he won't discuss it over the phone then tell him too bad. He will probably want to meet with you to "discuss" things. More cop code, and more trouble for you. Don't do it.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
And his is my advise if you are 100% innocent!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If you actually are guilty of something (which you are, you are growing dope dummy) then I can't believe this is even a question. You have been warned. Stop being so foolish and know your rights.

Not mine, I just came across them a couple years ago online. I review them occasionally and try to spread the word. I have seen too many people stick a foot right in their mouth completely unnecessarily.

I believe as NWA put it, "Fuck tha police"

i don't know about f- them, but i do know there is no reason to help them put you away...
if you wanna talk to them after they've kicked in your door, why wouldn't you just go and get yourself arrested at the station house (you know like) "so guys, i've been growing/ selling/ smoking weed, i don't want you to have to go to the trouble of finding me or getting a warrant or even getting out of your car, so here, cuff me and put me away for a long time, i've been bad..."

F-THAT... i've got a lawyer on retainer, and if i do get jammed up, i'll speak to him and no one else... so should you...

That is the EXACT same advice I gave a post very similar. There is NEVER a good reason for talking to the police. Most people are intimidated by police and they know and use that against you. Just by agreeing to talk to a cop, you have given up your right not to incriminate yourself. There are a lot of innocent people in jail that made the mistake of talking to a cop.

don't pick up the phone.

they know who that phone belongs to, if they have the number they acquired it via a subpoena. they get a copy of the very same bill you get. name, acct #, minutes talked, to who, and they get transcripts of text messages, complete with times sent, and cell tower numbers the calls/texts were routed from. if you have location enabled on your phone it's possible they have a gps location to within 10-20 feet.... OOOHHHH.... big brother... scaaary...

they want to sweat you, lean on you, squeeze, we're not talking sex here, they want to ask you some questions. don't give them a chance. it'll be a lot more inconvenient than they'll tell you over the phone. they'll tell you your just going in for an interview, when you try to leave they'll say they can detain you for up to 72 hours or someshit..... so don't go to the police station unless you're in handcuffs.

if they show up at your house, don't let them inside without a warrant. step outside and lock the door behind you and talk to them outside. do it quickly. don't let them try to sneak by you. sneak out close lock, in one move. you should practice it...

if they try to grab you as you walk to your car or something, tell them you have nothing to say because your lawyer isn't there. say the word lawyer as soon as they get near you.

keep us updated!
That is super good advice!!! +Rep for that!!
