Side by side molasses experiment?

So when are we gonna get the answer.

The only reason why I chose A rather than B is because A is much darker and molasses seemed to darken and green my buds for some reason.

plant A looks like it has more calyxes. plant B looks better overall. plant A appears to be burnt.

i'm going with plant A because it has more calyxes and it was burnt easier because it was taking up nutes better because it had molasses.

I thought it was burnt....I just did that to one of my girls and the pistils all shriveleed up and browned abut 2 weeks before harvest.

We are the only ones to say A...I bet we win

it took me feeding double doses for several weeks to get mine to burn. i wanted to see how much they could handle. i was rather surprised. they took A LOT before showing any signs of burning. then it was too late. had to flush and let 'em burn. i've flushed twice since they showed the first signs but they still continued to burn for a few days. i think they stopped now. it only got the fan leaves.:blsmoke:

So when do we get the results. Impatient. I've been keeping an eye on this experiment for a while. So has a lot of people. Let us know.:joint::twisted:

Well, I suppose it is time for results.

Plant B had molasses.

Also, there are a couple of things to be said here. I did nute burn both plants pretty badly on the last feeding, which was about 2 weeks ago. If you look at post #95, you can see the pics that were taken right after the burn. At that time, the burn looked quite a bit worse on the molasses plant. Over the next two weeks of flushing, The molasses plant started to look much healthier, while the burn remained very apparent on the buds of the other plant.

Also, in response to the calyx/leaf ratio, I found that the non-molasses plant was produced much more trim than the molasses eater. It seemed that there was so much leaf matter stuck in there that I would never be able to get it cleaned up. However, it is possible that I have no idea what the fuck I am doing.

It is also notable that the molasses plant is much more pungent in smell.

So here are a couple of broad conclusions that I have thought up over a lot of time and many a bong hit:

1) I believe that the molasses did wonders for my soil. One of the unknown variables, as I stated earlier, was the fact that the guano I had added to my soil at last transplant was said to contain mycorrhizae. I believe that the molasses kept the little guys happy; and allowed a much quicker recovery from nute burn.

2) I believe that the molasses changed the calyx/leaf ratio a little bit. This may have only been a result of the added potassium, and the plant's ability to photosynthesize properly.

However, now that they are drying (after about 36 hours hanging), the buds are starting to look similar. I think a lot of the differences lie in the fact that the molasses buds had a good deal more water weight. Both plants had dry soil soil when I harvested (the soil was even dry the night before), so I am not certain if this is an effect of the molasses, but it could be. I think it has a lot to do with the appearance of the plants, though.

Here is a side by side of two buds from the closet. The one on the right is with molasses. The difference in appearance is already fading:

So, that is all I can offer right now. I am not touching any of these buds until they are dried and cured pretty well. I will try to offer dry weights at that time (I have to buy a more reliable scale). I will also offer a smoke report. For right now, all I can do is offer a smell report.

Molasses: Melon, grapefruit, meyer lemon and a hint of cat urine.

Without: very earthy, with a sweet smell like fabric softener. My girlfriend also said "It smells like a carpet store" Much earthier, but still dank.

I hope you will consider my conclusions and discuss in a civilized manner. I realize that my experiment is not foolproof.

Wow, very interesting. Thanks for the report and the whole experiment. I have one question though, It might be to early to answer. But would you grow again with molasses? Think it was worth it?

Very interesting experiment.....

I didn't want to read the whole thing......did you start from clones or anything like that or were the plants grown from separate seeds?

It's a good read. I bought molasses on the strength of it and am feeding twice weekly-the plants are visibly improved on my previous grow. smellier, stickier and just all round better.

Props, very nice experience. Before I saw results I thought B was molasses to. It deffently appears to have more trichome developement.

Cant wait for weight, and smoke report. = )

already done did it....check back in my posts , had this same discussion so i did a controlled experiment..
the buds from the mollasses plant were the same size as the plant with no mollasses given to it.....
Did you notice any more crystals or better flavor smoke?Interesting
