cheese?! wtf?! lmao. subject change? haha

i agree man. this is a grow journal, not an episode of the OC or some other bullshit drama. lol

hoping to see some taproots tomorrow. this is my first time germing this way. started seeds in plugs before. once i see a little root just poke it into my rooters? simple as that? seed coat facing up/taproot pointing down?

yup you got it right!

Just wait until they crack open and you can see the little white root.

Place in medium root down : ) but only like 1/4 inch deep!

Checked the beans first thing this morning. GWS has just started to crack and MAYBE LS has as well? haha that damn coating you can hardly see! There is a line in the coating that looks like its starting to split. The paper towel was slightly dry, so i gave them a few drips from the tap. Looks like I might be transplanting to medium today!!

PS
Thanks Dac! I thought that's how it was done. I try to avoid mistakes, by pretending its my first time for each step.

Hey Shack, I made it :) are you using peat pellets too? I sure hope so, Im gonna follow this one for sure. I love being in on the ground floor of grow. Im putting my seeds to germinate tomorrow night and grabbing some jiffy pellets on friday. Hopefully this time around I can get past the first node before I kill them

Good luck on your grow, Im watching this one.

I don't LST, but I do bend my stems to promote strength. I do it every night, right before the lights go off...

I find repeating each step in your head, overthinking it... then when time comes, going with what feels natural is what works. At the end of the day, more than anything my peace of mind is what's most important to me. Overthinking and then just going for it is my process.

I'm scared for the opposite reasons. lol
I sort of get the whole process and have no fear of bending a branch/stem... just have a fear of LST wrong lmao.. if thats possible.

isn't that TECHNICALLY LST? providing them with low stress, training them to be stronger. I get what you're saying though, i think. Supercropping or just exercising them stem?

GWS has a 2mm taproot and LS has showed no signs of cracking. I used my finger to rub off some of the coating to encourage more surface contact with the paper towel.
Probably going to pug in the GWS tonight. I'm hoping the LS will crack soon so I can have them side by side.

I guess it would be LST... just not training them to grow outwards. I top for that.

Well, my anxious mind got the best of me lol!
I went ahead and popped both seeds into the rooter plugs and the starting tray.
Pictures explain most of it. But here are some words.

GWS has a nice little taproot started, porbably about 3mm.
LS looks as though she has BARELY started to crack.

I took the plugs (which were dry as bone) soaked them in 6.0 pH water to rehydrate them. Put them in the tray, then dropped the seeds into the little holes.
They are floating in the water catch, in about 1/4" of the water I used to rehydrate the plugs. Will that work or should i continue to drip water daily till i get a little sprout started?

I put them in the tent and to get the temp up a bit have my 150W lamp running. Now i figure this isn't the greatest thing for a seedling, especially since light could shine directly on the young root. SO! I took a gallon ziploc as a makeshift humidity over the whole seed tray thing-a-ma-jig. Then I took one of my pots and turned it upside down over all of this to block most of the light. After the ladies break the surface, I'll remove the "lid" and use the pots as a stack to get the girls close to the light and get these babies growing!!

Now!! What does everyone have to say??

hey man looks great , the only suggestion i have , is that i have been told it works better if you let the seeds germinate in the dark. i usually use a black bowl because it will trap the heat in there and it attracts it. just some stuff i had heard but it looks like its going fine , hope to see some cool shit pop up soon. oh yeah and your name always makes me laugh because i have seen that episode " my name !? ...Rusty Shackleford!"
