removing fan leaves in flower

The point is, out of hundreds of years of growing plants, suddenly all the rules of known information about how plants and leaves work, are thrown out the window, with the boom of new growers on the seen. Unless someone.... Anyone can come up with real science behind "defoliation", it's just pseudoscience (fake science).

Agreed. But it has been done for the last 30 years like the rest of the indoor grow "techniques"

Even though the old guys disproved the bullshit years ago too.

And I got caught up with it in the beginning and I was trying to show a fully leaf retained plant at harvest and how the buds fill out way below enigmats pruned branches.

I gotta admit in my early years (before the internet) I bought into it too, being a dumb kid. I think that's why it pissed me off so bad when I see people pushing it off as fact. It's sad really...

Wow when that dries you can hope for 16 nice grams. Looks sticky. That is figured at a pretty standard 25% dry weight.
Thanks, that one plant has 12 tops like that or a little smaller and I have about 35 secondary nugs so I thinking 9oz off that one plant and I have 3 more just like it...I'm not trying to sell anybody on defoliation it just works for me in my personal situation.

But why wouldn't you want bigger buds?

What's your personal situation?

Cause then his lighter would look too small.

Dude, that plant that I showed only weighed 4.5 Oz of dried bud after trimming. I keep 4 like this per 3.5' x 3.5' area. You plants are twice as dense as the one I showed? Cmon now.

Look guys, the plant requires leaves to grow. -Fact

Cutting them off stops/slows the production of G3P (the building blocks of carbohydrates). -Fact

After cutting them off, the plant trys to regrow them, in order to survive. -Fact

The only place to grow new leaves it in the new growth. -Fact

It seems to me, your buds are NOT getting bigger, your just growing more leaves withing the buds, making them look fuller.

Is your goal to smoke leaf?

30" cubed but the branches had to be tied up to hold the weight so untied more than 3' wide.

What is your point now. My plant grew a lot more and denser bud than yours. It is because of the leaves.

Last year when I tried your way I got male flowers. Stressed plants and half the bud from the same seeds.

Oh and the plant was bent by week 2 or it would be way too tall I would guess 4 to 5 feet. But you are not going to get buds to fatten up if your plant is too tall with indoor lighting.

Sounds like you had a bad experience last year sorry to hear that...But I believe I'll have at least 8 ounces off that one plant and the rest of my plants are pretty much on par with that one so it's looking good for me, it will all be on my YouTube channel Enigmatic Ways.

8oz is pretty delusional with those tiny buds. Maybe if you weight all the stems too... and the root ball while you're at it.

Although somewhere you lost a full Oz off your estimate..wasnt it 9oz just a moment ago?

I'm just growing more leaf in the bud to make them look fuller? Here's a better picture.IMG_20160724_161740.jpg

Well, it would appear you plant won't grow anymore, as you've removed it's ability to do so.

Essentially, you're curing you buds on the plant. With no leaves, no growth, and no chlorophyll. No chlorophyll means curing.

Why would you limit growth?

You're trading growth for speed of cure, I just don't understand why...

Ok first. I looked back through the thread and must have missed your post but beautiful garden you have Dumme. Awesome canopy.

Enigmatic. If you think those buds weigh that much you are not drying them all the way.

I already said they looked real nice. But you should admit they are only half way there. They can fill out much more. If you let the plant have its original leaves. Otherwise you are just stalling it like so many great growers here are telling you.

Sorry you missed my sarcasm.
