Good to hear. I might check it out. When mature my plants don't have any problems. I have has issues in the past when they are young and I get lazy about adding tea. Problem being, I'm going to spend this summer playing and traveling ...not messing with my plants!!
It's been a couple weeks now and my "tomatoes" are still lookin good. Have fun on your vacation.

I don't use any of those and I have none of those problems.....bright white roots all the way..duct tape is my key. Covered my reservoir with it.

Yeah thanks for the link. I'm going to give it a try on the next go around in my Pre-veg set up. I've got around 50 clones I need to get in there in the next week so I need to get off my ass and order some. The clones look pretty weak at this point. This strain takes so damn long to clone :(.

My tanks are sealed so I really don't see a need to seal them any more than they are now, but thanks.
I had the root rot problem from when I cut out a male plant. I couldn't get all of the roots from that plant out of the tank. Now it's all good...

Compatak,
You should have said that. If you have excess root material then you should add enzymes that will facilitate the breakdown of that material into elemental nutrients..mostly N. While soil contains enough microbes to do this, water has less amounts of these bacteria, and the enzymes they produce.

Now if your a complete Dbag that lacks the ability to research what they are buying, then go buy a $50 bottle of Hygrozyme. It's a magical special formulation designed to decompose rotting tissue and clean your system! Formulted for hydroponics! OR, you can spend $10 on a jar of Pondzyme with barley which is the same damn stuff and a jar will last you FOREVER a tiny scoop treats 50 gallons.

Your going to have to do the research though if hydro fungicide will destroy the enzymes. Not sure about that, another grower stated that PZ contains myco, but I haven't verified it.

Or, just drop a roll of duct tape in your Rez. The magical properties of duct tape will cure it (even though your problem is not light supported algae growth).

Quit being a fucking moron! I don't have tape in my reservoir! Quit trying to start a fucking argument! There are already enough asses on RIU that we don't need your stink too. Remember while you talk shit.....I don't have reservoir issues.

Ok kids, no fighting...LOL...
I'm new at this hydro stuff, in fact this is my first grow and I'm simply hoping to get some good info from you guys that has been doing the same for more than a couple months like myself. So far I've got some good advice in here and my "tomatoes" are looking good. And thanks again for that BTW... Yea, I live in Florida and it's not legal here yet. It's all a bit overwhelming at first but with your help and finding places to research for myself to what ever I might need at the time, I will get the hang of this in time.

That would explain you talking shit and following my post to talk trash there as well...I'm just letting you guys know what I've tried. Why bash me for it? I'm new to dwc...my first try actually and I've done it without issues since covering the bucket.
LMAO. Troll is as troll does

I trashed you because quite honestly dude, and I'm not trying to be a dick about it, you don't understand the complexities of growing in DWC. So you busted in here and gave advice, that was actually quite false, and you did it with attitude to boot. Which kind of pisses me off because this forum is full of growers with SOME of the information or understanding.

Home boy doesn't have a light leak, he's got excess microbial activity brought on by the precense of detritus in his buckets. You could go sterile at that point or switch to bennies.

FYI, there are certain things you can get in your system that will not be cured by your typical treatments; zone, h2o2, light proofing, more oxygen. What I am talking about is Cyanobacteria that is also known as "the brown slime". Yet guys post pictures of the slime and half-informed growers start spouting off advice such as duct tape, h2o2, zone, etc. that won't do shit.

I have wonderfully tasting and pure water from the tap. 32 ppm is what my tap readings are. Unfortunately, Portland does not dose their water with chloramines at a sufficient strength to kill Cyanobacteria. And thus...it is always waiting there for me.

I recently moved to a new grow site and in all the 16 hour days of installing lights, co2, ventilation , wiring new circuits, building a new control panel I neglected my plants and rot set in. I dosed with bleach and caught it but I paid the price, it a kicked the snot out of y plants and I had lots of root damage that I had to deal with. But when you have 9k watts over 14 monster plants, you don't have the luxury of just "trying shit". Every month my power bill shows up...$1200 is the average. I generally have almost 5 grand into my plants at harvest. And that is for ONE of my rooms. The 18k vertical Hempy grow room has a power bill that is downright offensive.

So trust me, despite my general abbrasivness and enjoyment in fucking with trolls, I do in fact no what the hell I'm doing in this

Florida? Fuck dude, you got balls. If your worried about security..you can always pm me directly. In Oregon it's all sunshine and roses. I had a cop come to the house last year as some fuck-twit stole my car stereo. "Sir, it smells strongly of marijuana in here". " ohh yeah, I have an OMMP grow room in the basement, the lights are on, would you like to see it?" Tool him down there and he said "pretty cool, looks like you have this down to a science" is what he said

LOL. Welcome to the west coast.

I already have air stones and I don't see any green slime in or around my tanks so I already knew that wasn't my problem. But I do appreciate them for their suggestions and trying to help.
Can you recommend any place where I can find some GOOD info. I don't want to keep bothering you for help although you do seem to be a very good source of unlimited info on this subject. Lol... I have found allot of people and sites with info but at this point it's very hard to know what's right for me and what's bullshit when I'm trying to learn from the very beginning myself.
Man... I wish I didn't have to worrie bout the cops. I've been busted twice in the past with just a couple joints both times but if I get caught even with one J, I will go to jail. That's bullshit when to think otherwise I don't have so much as a parking ticket... EVER!! and I'm 59 now. Hahaha.. next years the big one... "60"
Anyway you can count on me hangin out in here... Lol...
Happy token...

You're so full of shit you believe it! I didn't get an attitude until you started with the childish name calling. And you're right, I don't know all of the reasons for deficiencies. All I stated was what I'm doing and that I haven't had any issues. But I guess an opinion is an attack on a simple minded child like yourself.

No, you stated that what you were doing was the only thing that needed to be done. So like most dip shit newbs, you turned correlation into causation and then started preaching it like gospel. Even after I took the time to explain what the hell is actually going on with the OPs system. You continue your duct tape is the answer, I'm just a stupid jackass saga.

I'll tell you what, you post a picture of your grow and I'll post a picture of mine and we will let the others decide who is full of shit. You can start making excuses now as to why you can't do that.

I agree with above here u gotta design things correctly.. Are your pots lightproofed and insulated, with the water properly being aerated? Do a rdwc system made so there are waterfalls oxegenating things
