Hello, I'm new to this Hydro thing and was woundering if anyone here might be able to tell me how to get rid of dead roots left over from cutting out a male plant. I've herd that Hydrogen Peroxide is a cheap way to do this but if it works, how much do I add. How long to leave it in the tank or should I do a water change right away. Or is there something else that is safer or better.

Do you know of any places in the US that sell DNF hydro sparkle? The only places I can find are all out of Canada.

^^^Whoa

Not a "pro" just some info on my grow and what i've experienced with rdwc.

I don't use soups in my rdwc setup, personally. The only time I saw root rot appear was when my clones did not have airstones, as soon as I put some in it cleared up and have been good since. Don't over think it and just watch your plant when your growing, it will tell you what you need to know. My advice, just add plenty of oxygen and go from there. If you start seeing it develop after that point go for the added soups and mixes.

Let me know how it works. I seem to remember reading at some time that is actually just a chlorine derivative. I have thought about going the chlorine route (bleach) but you need a chlorine meter to do it properly. Bleach, like h2o2 works by loosing an oxygen atom so it dissipates as it kills bacteria.

legallyflying - Thanks, I got the hydro fungicide today and added it to my tank right away. I did add Hydrogen Peroxide about a week ago and the leafs on one of my plants are wilting or curling from tip to stem but still a nice green color so I don't really think that's caused from the peroxide (H2O2). but too, I'm new to this hydro grow. I'll let ya know how this works out, Thanks again...

Cool. I would not mix the two together. Dual oxidizing agents typically don't play we'll together.

Your root tips can turn brown if you damage them. Not always, but many times.

Good to hear. I might check it out. When mature my plants don't have any problems. I have has issues in the past when they are young and I get lazy about adding tea. Problem being, I'm going to spend this summer playing and traveling ...not messing with my plants!!

I was having a few problems with root rot in my dwc grow last run, using all Dutch master gold nutrients and a chiller at 17 degrees. This grow ive added a ozone generator and a venturi fish tank skimmer and the results couldnt be better!'Ozonated water might be a good solution to h2o2. If you want pics ill throw some up.

Yes It's working well. All the roots and the water still looking good.
I emailed the store where I got the Hydro Fungicide and asked them when they expect to be getting more. As soon as they get back to me I'll re-post. There right here in Melbourne FL so if they don't get right back to me I'll call. By the sound of it there's a good chance this is the same place but I'll do my best for ya.
