This is real simple....

Anyone who is still defending Obama at this point are even worse than those who defended Bush at the same point in his Presidency. Why are they worse? Because they are hypocrits as well as being just wrong about defending the President.

There is no difference in a Dem and Rep, except for which pool of idiots they get their votes from.

Sorry if you are offended, but if you are, you should probable reaccess your political theories and see them for what they are, bullshit.
Quite the defeatist attitude there, one that I've felt at times and still do occasionally. Yet what's important is, we have a winner take all system, therefore not allowing diversity of candidates. We have a money problem, where politicians are beholden to those who can write a check. We have candidates that frankly are an insult to the positions of offices they hold.

I'm left of the Democratic Party. The closest candidates I can align ideologically with are Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. But the rules of the game are what they are. Voting does matter, but so does educating oneself on what hooker is selling themselves for the office.

Elizabeth Warren is about the only politician in DC that I would like to see run for POTUS.

Plus it's easy to Internet arm chair opinions about a president. No offense to any of us fine folks but you have to be pretty smart or surrounded by very smart people with the right circumstances to get that far.

I'm no Obama defender. I'm unhappy with drones, privacy issues, engagement overseas, but guess what? Where are any of us going to find someone we agree with 100% or the time for everyone ? What kinda place would this be? Plus it ignores outside factors such as a shit do nothing congress

I'll tell you where Obama let me down. His promises of "change" and "draining the swamp" in DC were empty ones. Nothing has changed. More of the same BS, just coming from a more articulate man than the guy before him.

The system is broken, and rigged. I don't know if anyone can change it at this point.

That woman is brilliant. Great resume, and really nothing glaring in terms of lack of experience. Republicans fucked up not allowing her nomination to the consumer protection agency. Only inflated her resume, little weak on foreign policy but other than that she is solid

He let me down too, but it isn't my first rodeo with politicians, so I expect grand plans that never get put into action sadly

Any "good" politician is taken out of the game at the local levels, at best they may make it to the City Council. That is rare and even when it happens they have their hands tied so nothing they do can make a difference.
I turned on Obama during his first campaign when he started making promises that were impossible to keep.
At that point I said that either he had no clue at all what he was getting into, or he was simply a compulsive liar. I am pretty sure it is a lot of both. Same as every other politician in the world.

All politicians are liars, in fact I'd argue everyone is a liar at some point in their life. It was interesting when I was talking to a politician about cannabis, obviously not disclosing my usage, they said "I personally don't care, and it certainly is better than alcohol but I can't publicly comment due to upsetting party members and constituents"

Obama lost all respect from me when he didn't close Gitmo, lost all sorts of faith in your presidency and it really opened my eyes as far as politics goes.

If the President can not even achieve one of his campaign promises that he actually wants to, and most rational people know it's the right thing to do, then he's not in charge. Simple and plain that.

I don't even blame Gitmo on America, I blame it on every single leader of every country that doesn't speak up against it. Why does America want other countries criminals so badly? They getting tired of incarcerating their own?

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/omar-khadr-reattempts-to-sue-canada-for-20m-1.2753689

And now after they have fueled terrorist ideology with the horrible shit they did there, the tax payers of my country are getting sued for more finances. "I want Canada liable for the torture." or in other words, I want Canada to fund ISIS.

Well congress is to blame on that one. I'm pissed about Gitmo too. Reminds me of what we did to Japanese Americans during WW2. Surrendering of the very rights we claim to hold virtuous.

Anyways, back to how this is congresses fault. Congress passed a resolution essentially denying any funding for transfers and that even the "worst of the worst" could not be held in our practically inescapable super max prisons. It was more of a NIMBY thing and a way to stop Obama from closing Gitmo. So at the end of the day, it really is Congress to be blamed on that.

Let's not forget this stupid congress wanted to shut down the government and default... the brilliant minds in the Republican party!

Gitmo was one of the impossibles I was referring to in the above post. At the time it was completely impossible for Gitmo to close. First, and maybe even the easiest problem, where do you send the terrorist prisoners? No one would take them. Then, when ISIS comes into play and you start capturing their intelligence, where do you send them? So just hearing him promise to close Gitmo was a huge red flag to me. Of course, everyone else was just as bad, so I didn't give anyone my vote that year. I actually value my vote and to get it, you have to earn it.

I see not voting and casting a blank ballot a means of sending a message. Nothing wrong with that.

Nonetheless I take the opposite opinion. I vote for who will at least respect the values of personal freedom and will never cast a vote for bigots, know nothings and anyone who claims business experience as some sort of selling point. Being a statesman or states woman use to mean something. It was a civil service, something to help the country. Not line ones pockets (did you know there is no law prohibiting politicians to insider trading?), or will jump to lobbying afterwards.

Gitmo could have been closed. Congress critters chose not to allow it.

I didn't vote in the last Federal election here. I thought "hey, there's no way folks are going to vote for Harper again, guys an idiot" welp. How fucking wrong was I? Pretty sure it was the lowest voter turn out in a long ass time... apparently a lot of other Canadians thought the same thing.

I will vote at every damn election I can from then on I decided. I was part of the contributing factor of why he was re-elected. I won't be this time. That's my opinion on voting ;)

I bet this next election has one of the highest turn outs in Canadian history. He's fucked the dog so much he's afraid to commit any money to anything because his budget, the biggest thing he's got to run on, is falling apart. NATO's demanding more money he can't do shit, he's denying federal money to a lot of things that should get federal money. He's expecting to just save save save, without investing in any future of this country, unless you count lining oils companies pockets in Canada's interest. I don't think they have any idea how economics actually work. The oil sands in Alberta have been labeled an environmental disaster now they are trying to convince the east coast to start shale mining... because BP's fuck up in the Gulf wasn't evidence of how badly offshore can fuck up fisheries, that's the east coast bread and butter right there. One disaster could destroy alot of folks lives.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/alberta-s-tar-sands-nighmare-environmental-catastrophe-looms/19284

They tried to shame the premier of Ontario for putting money into schools and health care saying it was irresponsible spending, while running on no sort of platform what so ever just attacks.... that pretty much sums up my current government.

I'm so sorry my Canadian friend. Harper is in my mind nothing more than a terrible politician exported to you guys.

Granted I wasn't aware of the other candidates but knew enough about him.

So there is an injunction on the law requiring med patients to destroy their crops?

How about...a liar with an agenda?

.....it was completely impossible for Gitmo to close. First, and maybe even the easiest problem, where do you send the terrorist prisoners?
Fortunately, our leader found a home for 5 of them - trading them for a Bo Bergdahl cat that had abandoned his unit. Man, we really needed that guy back, I guess. Don't know what he's up to, but one of the Gitmo 5 is 'the' guy in ISIS.

That's some deal. With that resume', Barry Sotero -Obama could work for Ned Colletti, making more awful trades for the Dodgers.

And speaking of Bergdahl, why is a guy that abandons his platoon worth 5 high level terrorists......and an honorably discharged vet has been held in a Mexicanjail for nearly 6 months?

I'd love to hear guesses.

Because he is our brother, an American. If he did something wrong, we try him in a court of law.

The dude who is speaking on the camera is British and has been identified as such.

A man who abandons his 'brothers', loses 'brother' status in my eyes. The honorably discharged vet still sits in a jail in Mexico [an ally, you know], and the president is quite content to let this 'brother' sit. You see the contrast, I'd hope.

As to the Britsih origin of the beheader, what does that matter in your view? Is he less a murderer because he has British citizenship?

ETA - I don't consider residents of this country 'brothers' - or 'sisters' - by virtue of where they were birthed or reside. That only earns first consideration.

Well it's weird. People used to be able to select a grower and have them do your plant numbers for you. Now if you were allowed to grow only for yourself the BC courts have ruled you still can. But if you grew for others you can' do that anymore. They are trying to get away from people working together. They are trying to separate the community but they really don't get how the community works.

So if you were allowed to grow for yourself before the court case, you can still grow. But if you sign up for the med system now, after the new "tough on crime bill" passed ,then you have to go to a LP, which is a fucking joke in itself.

This new tough on crime shit is a fucking joke, actual criminals are getting off because the laws the conservative party put forward are unconstitutional and getting shut down in about every court they get sent too.

I'm thinking someone is going to sign up for the new system, get busted growing, and be able to beat the case because the laws are just ridiculous. 6 months for 6 plants? That's a fucking joke, putting someone in jail with criminals because they have a couple plants in the garden? Used to be a possession fine. Now they will try to put you away for being a gang member just for growing some plants. According to the government 6 plants means you are trafficking and a gang member, fuck the cases actual merits. I don't know that a single Canadian has been prosecuted for growing since the new law passed.

last I heard 64% of Canadians wanted Cannabis fully legalized and taxed. We can't even get that many people to show up to a fed election, well hopefully that changes now that we have someone running who is willing to legalize it and get the money back into the country to help instead of the pockets of organized crime and greedy LP's.

I read weekly of LP's with mold and pesticide problems. I won't smoke their shwag,.

You don't have to, but usually national identity matters to most, hell we all benefit from it. If he truly deserted he will be punished. Prisoner swaps are nothing new and it's an honor thing to bring your own back home. Again maybe that's not your thing, but it's a long dated practice.

Why does it matter where the beheader, or actually we know he was at least a part of it, is from? Because these people may have passports that can get them back into their home countries. That's why it matters where they came from.

I know you are not a fan of multiculturalism, but I don't wanna see Americans of any kind fucked around with.
