i'd heard that 24-48hrs darkness helped to set flowering... have never tryed (as i have never grown indoors) ..... but don't think its worth the bother...as j says keep dawn set and reduce dusk to 12/12

there is no point of complete darkness before flowering.... in nature, the hours decrease as the season progress... theres never a total darkness. if you mess with your photoperiods too much u will just hermie your plants. best thing to do is just to flip it to 12/12 and let it finish

if u don't think that giving ur plants 36hours of total darkness b4 u switch to 12/12 helps, ur wrong, way wrong, don't forget, this is not nature, this is indoor growing, and u can "trick" a plant to do a lot of things with the light cycle, just like giving it 36-48 darkness b4 u chop, it helps with resin production, cause it "tricks" the plant that winter is here! if u don't know for sure, don't say no, just say that u don't know, to much bad info,

edit, i gave my girl 36hours, and she had pistil in 2days, yes. 2 days,

Anyone who uses 24-36-48 hrs of darkness before flip is impatient. Do you really think it is going to save a couple days when you are going to have to wait 8-11 wks anyway.. does it even matter by that time? like.. "Good thing I gave her 24hrs of darkness, I can harvest on monday instead of thursday" :D

i do the 24 hr thing, its not to speed things up, its more of a getting them on the time schedul i want. i do think they show flower a couple days earlier but that is just a bonus to me. when i veg im running 20/4, when i flower i want them going from 8pm to 8am. reason being its cooler at night and im home during that time. personal preference, do whatever you want either way it wont be wrong... i dont think its that, cause if u watch the weeks, ur off already, the bud will tell u when its ready. but knowing the sex of a plant if growing from seed is very important. you want to know whats male and female asap, dont u?

Way to contradict yourself in consecutive posts. Where in nature do you get 3-4 days darkness? I do 36 hrs dark before flipping to flower, I feel like it lets the plants know it is time and saves me a days worth of electricity. If anyone uses yellow bottles nutrients, they also say to give them 36 hrs dark before going to flower.

So I started a hot debate this time. It looks like an even split of people who do and people who don't. The people who do are the only ones who have a reason why. And what are these yellow bottle nutes?:weed::weed::weed:

Well technically giving a plant several days of darkness before chop will allow the trichs to grow, not sure if @ a faster rate.. but there will be no hot 600w Light hanging above them to degrade or mess with them in any way. So I too give plants several days of darkness before chop & never been happier.

May have a reason but it is a bad one. Some people have reasons for chopping of fan leaves.

I agree with u on that one about chopping leaves off, but there is no downside to giving ur plant darkness, or u can go straight 12, up to the grower, try them both if u get chance. A. Grow buddy of mine liked how fast the plant showed sex, that he now gives his a dark period. B4 12/12, again, I'm not saying that this will give u bigger buds, or faster flower time, nothing like that, but that it DOES show sex faster. And this. Can be. Useful to some, so don't knock it
