Well it's day 21 in the Octopot and day 5 of flower and I have to say the growth has been pretty impressive and she looks very healthy, she went from a 3.5" square pot to the Octopot. She's filling in the 3' screen fast and her stem is 9/16" and she has fan leaves larger than my hand and I don't have small hands. I started her on a sample pack of Flora nutes from General Hydroponics I had laying around but I'm switching her over to some Hydroponic-Research products with some additives.

That octopot is hilarious. It's like some ghetto deep water culture hydroponic system they want more than 3 of my RDWC buckets cost that have a recirculating pump, and a air stone w/ pump plus two buckets...lol.

I've had people telling me to try one for a long time and finally thought what the hell. My only concern is the quality I get in the end because of the crazy hydro growth but it has 5 gals of dirt so we'll see.

Yes prepare for crazy hydro growth for sure, yields are great in hydro but taste just cant compare. In my opinion the organics just have a superior flavor and smell. I may retry using my hydro system since I paid so much for it but I probably wont use it for growing cannabis. Might try growing some cucumbers or tomatoes. And the amount of dirt you have doesn't matter at all, once those roots hit the water/nute mixture they are limitless in pot size and the plant will grow to full potential.

Well my hope is that since it has 5 gal of soil too it may have better quality than just straight hydro.

Here's why I took the RW-75 for my second place finish in the party cup. I've got a total of 270.5 watts at the wall for 30 watts a sq/ft on the 3'x3' scrog in the Octopot at day 18 of flower.

It will have a better taste than straight hydro for sure, when I was doing my hydro I was doing as much organics in it as possible, you can use liquidized earthworm castings, and molasses in your rez to help get a better flavor.

I have no hydro experience and was concerned about putting anything organic in the res,I have a air stone in it. I was told to never top feed or top water the soil because the ppm's can go through the roof in the res. Have any schedule for adding organics and what to look for in the way of problems?

Yes I can help, use the nutrients at half strength and your stuff will taste amazing. I suggest the Advanced nutients(I know about their dirty history but results speak for themselves) bud candy, the nirvana and their rhino skin(unless you already use a silicate.) What are you putting in your res for primary nutrients? I would recommend advanced nutrients, canna, or house and garden. I have used general hydro and they are good but I found better results with the advanced nutrients. For a bloom booster I prefer the AN big bud after the second week of flowering than switch that to overdrive in the last 2 weeks of flower. I would also suggest trying to get some great white shark, or AN voodoo juice to get your res living , when its alive it helps with the taste and smell. Good luck with your plant, make sure PH is kept stable 5.5-5.8 and PPM's don't swing too much. I change my res every sunday when I run hydro and top off with PH'd water when low.

I'm using a mix of products and so far and the plant looks super healthy,1.2 EC since going into flower. The base is from Hydroponic Research called Veg+Bloom RO 3.75 grams and I'm adding 3 ml of Mag Pro and 4 ml of Bud Candy, per gal. I've added a dose of +Life from HR and planned on adding +Size from HR starting in a few days.

That sounds like a great plan and I would continue on with that and maybe just add the Nirvana (EWC liquidifed) and some silicate . Good luck hope you get some good buds off her I think the yield will be amazing.

I have Pro Tekt and I also have a worm bin,can I use my own castings or would the Nirvana work best in the res?
Nirvana because they do some fancy process to get it not gooey so it wont gunk up your rez, organics can be very gunky in the rez that swhy I like AN, they water down their products ( I know you pay more for less) but it works great in hydroponics.

This is the problem with hybrid systems^^^...........forced to run synthetics due to the res, have to amend heavy from the start to stay organic; no flexibility imo........synthetics and organic don't mix and just ruin your SFW

stick a couple of cheap petstore feeder fish in the res and be done with it.......lol

good luck cm

Worse comes to worse I can just use it on my 8% THC 8% CBD Pennywise for making oil for myself.

Hydro question, last couple times I needed to fill the res I checked PH and PPM and the PH was the same but the PPM was about 150-175 lower than what I'm adding. Does that sound right or is it a sign that I'm under feeding?
