During the Bundy standoff I was looking for safety deficiencies. I spotted no less then fifteen idiots with weapons NOT ON SAFE from media pictures.

I'm for concealed carry, but open carry just takes it to the level of CrAzy. Hell even concealed carry can be a problem ala Zimmerman

Not all firearms will operate the safety switch unless the weapon is charged.

So maybe they just had empty firearms. Kinda hard to know without walking up to them and having them pull the charging handle back to prove whether its empty or loaded.

They were all AR types, those weapons safe as long as the hammer is down, don't need to be loaded. Additionally my level of attentiveness is rather high with weapons, there is NEVER an excuse to have a weapon off of safe unless firing, cleaning or function checking. Even if a weapon has no magazine in its well it should be placed on safe.

That is one reason I am a big fan of glocks: no external safety!
