Hey everyone- I know Its been a while since the last update, my appologies. I did indeed save them from the frost and since then they have seen excellent growth. They are now on average about 10 inches to 1 ft tall. Looking healthy. Surprisingly the ones kept under the tupperware dish (purple widows and maroc x afghan) have grown the most. However they were touching the top and bending over so I had to raise the lid. I am working on preparing the in ground locations and will transplant as I start to determine the sex. Pics soon to come of all of the new growth and possible node sites. Over and out.

Also I am hoping to start adding nutes soon and think I am goin with foxfarms to get that extra growth boost they want. Any advice on specific nutrients or application schedules? You'll probably have a better feel once I post some more pics. Unfortunately I lost my camera battery so I have to pick up a new one.

hey man, as for nute, foxfarms or earth juice. I use EJ grow for veg and EJ bloom for preflower-flower. you dont need all that estra shit that companies try to sell u. just a veg and a bloom nute

Right on. I think I'm gonna stop by my local hydroponics store and pick up some earthjuice today. The soil I'm using- miracle mix- has quite a bit of fertilizer in it already so I guess I'll go easy on the nutes at first- Its not worth getting nute burned leaves. But hopefully it can speed up the growth and compensate for the crappy weather I've been getting.

what is the current npk of ur mix if u know off hand, bc i burned some of my girls with ntutes and i would advise to go expteamly light if u have a nitrogen rich soil to start with

What is NPK? I'm guessing something about nitrogen and phosphorus. But I'm using miracle mix potting soil which is pretty rich in fertilizer already. I did pick up some neptunes harvest fish fertilizer and some long term timed release fertilizer pellets. I'm actually just about to go fertilize and water now. I'm gonna be very easy on them and see how they respond before I start a feeding cycle.

I actually mistyped, the mix I am using is metro mix ( http://img321.imageshack.us/img321/104/metromix3601hp.jpg )

I beleive it has some added fertilizer, mica, perlite and peat in it, but so far it has treated my plants and I well

An unknown small creature has devastated my tray of purple widows, and get this- they were only unprotected for one day. What luck. Anyways I have put the remains under an intensive rehab program. Staked em all up, added soil, and some root growth promoter/ shock reducer for transplanting. Out of the 18 healthy ones in this tray I only have about 8 left. Hopefully they all can pull through but I expect to lose at least a few more.
Also I am sorry to let you all down without pics, but I never have a camera at the right times. At any rate, next time I check on them (within this week) I will post pics. Hopefully the ganga gods will bless me by then.

damn squalle sorry to hear bout your loss, I kno what thats like, actually the grow I got going now got off to a real rough start, in febuary I started a bunch of seedlings and they all got eaten by bugs! anyways man I know how it feels, keep ya head up bro and dont get discouraged, those 8 you have left can still grow strong and give you a good yield....

Its been quite a while since ive been on and quite alot has happened since then. After moving and staking up quite a few remains, I brought back to life 4 of the 8 purple widows and 1 of the maroc x afghans that were attacked by a skunk. (They were broken and small holes dug where the poor roots once were). Now they are resting safely in a guerilla garden. Not pictured yet.

The bagseeds are prospering, despite yellowing leaves, with 2 suspected females so far out of 14. (these ones did not get attacked!!)
however they are losing lower leaves and one plot is being munched by tiny grasshoppers.
Pictured here are 4 of the bagseeds - one is planted in very sandy soil mixed with miracle mix and the other is the same but with slightly better, more granular decomposed soil.

Oh, and if anyone has any imput on the yellowing leaves, or the grasshoppers feel free to help me out with your advice- also I was thinking of testing the soil ph and getting some slug repellant so I can avoid future problems. But those god damn grasshoppers! pissin me off!

Here are three more. as you can see the holes dont have quite enough soil in them but the plants are keeping well hydrated. There is more insect damage and yellow bottom leaves, but these guys are growin tall. I'm thinking of doing some LST treatment on the larger one, as I can see new growth just trying to get started at lower nodes, but I will most likely wait a good week or two first.

Loss, loss, and finally something good! After losing half of my crop a month ago, and just last week losing 5 of my plants to some kind of animal and 2 to lack of watering (they were still in 4 inch pots, poor babies), I have got my feet back on the ground.

I am wondering if I should bend the back plant , or both plants over (LST) to increase branching.

There really small and for being in NY and the season we have had the harvest if at all is gonna be small....Are you adding any nutes? Sorry i you have said it in a post before but i skiped through....My plants are at the smallest 6 feet....I did start them indoors under a 150HPS but they seem really small....When did you plant? Are you upstate? I'm in cny hence the name...If your downstate you will have better luck....

Checked on a few more locations today and was pleased with the growth (aside from my one midget plant). I did a little LST by bending some over and tying them down with grass and vines, a pain to get right. Natural LST or something. (Note to self bring twine next time).


I also did some weedwhacking and tree trimming. Never climb a locust tree with no gloves and no clippers! So I'm up there hanging from one limb, prying another limb off with my feet. What a sight. I hope my plant appreciates the extra sunlight.

The bugs (some sort of fly I think) seem to love one of my plants- just look at those leaves!
Anyways check out the treatment and let me know what you think.

cnymoeman, I know there small dont have to rub it in, haha jk. These have had a rough life, started in a greenhouse on a cloudy week mid may, moved around a few times and finally made it to the ground in the end of june. I used osmocote time release fertilizer and neptunes harvest fish emulsion. Probably about time for another dose of neptunes. I'm in tompkins county, so yeah central new york does have shitty weather, I thought I was the only one on here who had to deal with it. I bet starting inside with HPS gives you a nice headstart.

Have you found any good strains for our climate? I was trying to find something that finnishes early so I dont have to deal with the cold but there must be some strain that just thrives here
