My Mexican Ditch Weed

the girls are doing better than I thought they would. so expectations are being met.

Unlike my previous grows, theses girls are shedding their large fans leaves.

I have been cutting them off once they get quite yellow/brown and crispy.

I'm rather pleased with the runt, as her cola is looking thicker than the others

Lookin Good ISK. They must be 3 ft + above the medium. I'd be willing to bet that this smoke will be better than the parent you smoked down south. I know your girls have been treated much better than the parents were.

Some quick advice. Don't cut the fan leaves off. They're pulling the nutrients out of them and putting that toward bud production. They may not be the prettiest to look at, but they serve a purpose. Not until they're 100% dead and dried out, should you remove them.
The plant is using the stored energy within them.
Also, they're lookin good! I'll let you know how my mexican ditch sativa turns out as well, I decided to plant one of the mexican ditch beans i've been saving. ;)

Also... HOLY SHIT, those gals got some height on them!! How's the smell?

thanks Watts, yeah I'm sure my gals will surpass their parents as that's an easy target to achieve, trust me that Mexican ditch weed was low THC.

I'm starting to feel good about this grow, as they are doing not so bad, just hope things stay on track

cheers

No worries, I wait until they are really done for before snipping....I'm not into defoliation.

The smell on these gals is really very minimal, but when in veg state they smelled rather strong, but now in flower it's not much stronger.

I read what you said again, sorry. You were pretty clear that you wait until they're totally dead.
They're looking pretty nice though man.

51 days of flower mode, they are starting to fill in nicely.... my biggest problem is the physical stablity of the plants, being so tall and now becoming top heavy.

As such, I'm now using base containers filled with rocks to provde stability....the largest gal is just too large to continuing moving out of the grow area to water and take pics, so I'm using the same setup from last year's indoor/sunhine grow which will allow the waste water to collect in a pan, then I'll use a turkey baser to extract the excess.

I am surprized how many fan leaves they have dropped, but not a big concerned, sort of a natural defoilation process.

I had to increase my light height again, and rearrange the fans and mylar reflectors panels. Also added a tarp to the door/hallway enterence, as the smell was starting to leak outside of the bedroom, plus it provides an extra barrier for light leaks.

I figure I'm looking at about 5 - 6 more weeks, but that's just a guess

cheers

Nice looking stuff. It's not ditch, its more brick. I bet you get at least a QP or near it when all said and done. Good job brother!

Prior to this all I had was bag seed like this.

This reminds me of being a kid and daring your friend to do something that no one thinks will work. But then it does, and it's awesome, and you're pissed you didn't have the balls to try haha!! Looking better by the week ISK.

Likely the pot I got in Mexico was brick weed, just not compacted....in the 70's, the slang we used for low grade pot was "Mexican ditch weed" and if was really bad we called it "Saskatchewan ditch weed".

I'm gathering that most consider the term "ditch weed" to be a wild hemp that literaly grows in ditches, thus I'm sure I've confused a few people....my bad

Also, I never heard the term "bag-seed" until joining RIU, and I'm still unsure what exactly it is.

As for the yeild....never count your money until the dealing is done :)

Lookin really good ISK. I don't see where these could go another 6 wks, but I've been wrong before. Are they showing any frost? I'm sure with a cure it will be quite smoke-able..

HOLY SHIT those cola's are great for the size of the pots. How do you get proper nutrient uptake with the roots undoubtedly filling every possible millimeter in those things??? lol The cola's are a little skinny, but very big. Impressive to say the least!

I hope you are right, you typically are....I was guessing 5-6 weeks as some say sativa takes longer

I haven't been using the loupe to check trichromes yet as they are still all white hair, except for the runt is just starting to get a few red hairs.

cheers
