I assume I just put the screen waaaay too high and next time need to start training them into it when they're about 10" high rather than 16-18"?

Just curious, have you noticed how hot the outlet air temp is on that "commercial" air pump? I didn't take any measurements on the Ecoplus pump I have but stopped using it because of how much temp I can imagine it was contributing to my reservoir.

On your scrog, you could maybe gently lower your trellis and bend the plants all over more sideways to get the lower branches at the same height or chop them off if they are just gonna be fluff anyways

It was a problem before. But I'm using a water chiller now so there's no problems with hot water anymore ;)

I put mine into flower right when they get to/through the first trellis. Everything below that point/trellis will be stripped off. Doesn't mean the whole branch...just nodes not reaching above the first trellis. I put a second on 10-12" above that.

That will give you 18-24" of canopy above the first trellis that should all be very dense and usable.

I just flipped mine to flower 3 days ago. I assumed I would just train the stretch Into the 1 screen

re scrog

i see the words scrog a lot but essentially people are just using netting for cola holders and calling it scrog

with scrog you let you branches grow up[and sometimes you have to take a lot of leaves of them..

gently press them down so at least 10" of ever branch is pushed up against the screen

from there you train the flattened branches to send up everthing under and they will be you cola's

it takes patience as the tips start to protrude up through the screen..you put them in flower basicall arounf the[all] time the sall tips

start to grow upwards..they don't get more than a foot higher[if you are fortunate]

this way you have pile and piles of fat even smaller colas

you generally never need another screen..of course its not a perfect world,,but you can double your yield over

"cola holder scrog"..which to me is just sog....with support

all the best..that is what "scrog" is

Here is an example of how I trim/prune for my screen.
20150316_175859.jpg

If the branch doesnt reach the screen it gets chopped or stripped to concentrate all energy of the plant to the tops (everything above the screen).
I know it seems like you are going to kill it, or that your "wasting good bud spots" but anything under the screen will likely be underdeveloped scrub buds and not worth the energy expended on them.

Wow. how Do you get the branches to be so long and into the screen? I feel like mine is just too high up? Should I bring the screen down and push all the branches through? If I lowered it like 6-8" I could fit most of the tops Into it.

So do you ALWAYS need to top clones when you scrog? To get them bushy enough? I know mainlining would be best but it's just hard in DWC and harder with clones

I think the timing of when you put your screen down could have been adjusted better according to the size of the plants. I put my screen down on top of my vegged plants instead of growing them to the screen, then went into flower so I never had to anticipate my plants "growing toward the screen". Once the tops of the plants came through the screen (approx 3 days or so) I switched to flower. I trimmed and pruned and lollipopped into my second week of flower. Anything after that was just quick little "snaps" of me removing tiny little bud sites and brances below the screen where there was no light penetration.
As for mainlining, I was under the impression that has to be done from seed since clone nodes stagger.
I topped all of my plants before the screen went down, but all of mine were from seed so topping was quite easy. They were also all fem seeds so there wasnt a worry of disrupting the screen or other plants when trying to remove males.
Clones on the other hand are more difficult to top due to staggering of nodes in my experiences.

Don't be afraid to get rough with your girls, they're not china dolls and they usually like it. Pull some branches down and lower your screen,if needed just supercrop and then bend or chop the top part off if your worried about braking them. Cannabis is the toughest plant I've ever seen and can take a lot of abuse.

Ya I may need to super crop then ones going through the screen now so I can lower it. But my gut is saying just let them stretch. They'll get up there. Granted, not all of them but id say 80% will end up poking their heads through in a week or two

enjoy your sog cola holder posed as a scrog..

ps..last time

take that screen slowly and gently smash it down on those plants[ like almost two feet]

..flatten out those branches

actually do some training.....remove some leaves..do an actual scrog

then you don't have to worry about removing branches that don't reach the already way too high screen

[i give up..]

Show me some pics of your own personal experience? The screen is only 22 1/2" from the floor. So "almost 2 feet" is just ridiculous. I could lower it a good 10" though. Is it okay to super crop 3-4 days into 12/12?

sorry that was 2003..i have no scrog photos
the two feet was from the perspective i saw and yes its a slght exaggeration ..
no not "super crop"
i am not here to give you ridiculous advice..but its less riduclous than calling what you have a scrog
10-12 " ok..again sorry i
if you are already into flower you prob still can flatten all those branches
but its not for the weak of heart..but branches are hardy
doing so could double your yield though..thats why people spend so much time flattening the branches
and eaving all the growing poits up through the screen

***you can push the screen down to where all your branches start coming off of your trunk

you want all the branches perpendicular to the trunk and parallel to the screen***

its a nice screen
all the growing tips on all those branches should be what protrudes and grows up out of that screen
and they will all become cola's

in short
scrog is where you take all your long branches..
flatten themwith the screen
train them all parallel and tight to the screen
and train ALL the growing tips through the screen
to become their own apexes
you get a ton of tops that ALL become cola's
