I definitely think the added spectrum is beneficial. They look great man. I'll be running a Ushio HPS and a SunMaster 6,500 MH in conjunction this coming up round. I'm anticipating good things. :)

Hey Cory and Trevor try a different color setting.
If on 'auto' now try 'tungsten' and 'floro' etc.

Hey check out my reply in the civility/censorship thread on MLive:

Well I have had a few poasts removed and it doesn't bug me much.

The last one was where I wished chronic ankle pain and other neat stuff on L. Brooks.
So when I said I could live with him drowning in his own puke was over the line huh Ms. Eyer?
The chronic ankle pain was okay?

I pray to the sky-God this poast does not offend.

Is sky-God okay?
I have several so-called 'Gods' in my so-called 'religion'.
I don't like to mix the ground-God with the others.
It's against my religion.
Poor Jen...

I'm investing in a new hood for my grow and decided I have to have the Magnum XXXL.
It's very large glass area; so I'm working on getting vent ready.

You see it's got 8" vent collars and I don't need more than 6" worth of airflow.
Problem is, (and I almost made this mistake), the one that has 6" vent collars is quite a bit smaller on glass size.
I want the big one man; so I need to get air through it in my small area.

I need to make a right angle and reduce to two 4" vents from the 8" collar.
This partially done solution does the trick in 10":

I need to do some riveting and make a cap that outlets two 4" next.
Is anyone running one of the 8" Magnums yet?
Curious about heat issues if you got any.
I'm running 400 - 500 cfm through my current 6" hood vents with no issues.

Okay so I got it looking like Bender:

I just got to glue his eyeballs in after I hit it with silver tape.
Of course.

Grow Room material:

densShield.png

DensShield Tile Backer

Very Heat resistant.
Very Mold resistant.
Pretty darned good water resistance.

It has an acrylic side that is heat treated somehow, and then has fiberglass and gypsum in the middle.
What's really cool about it is that it matches 'rockboard' type material for durability, etc. with about 1/4 of the weight and hassle to install.
It cuts with a razor knife easier than most drywall.

Cutting a circle in this stuff is childs play even for a novice.
I'm doing my bloom roon lid with it and thought it deserves mention.
Where I get it it comes in 4' x 5' sheets.
Kinda odd size unless you consider bathtub back walls are usually 60" or a tad less.

Oops: 'Bender' won't work; he's too big for my room.
So I got this brand new hood with a 5 year warranty.

sixInchOcho-1.jpg

That warranty is not going to work out for me.

I had to cut 6 rivets and 8 metal tabs to get the 8" collar off.
I took glass out first of course.
Now I need to make a hard right angle to one 6" instead of two 4" connections.
Thinking of trying to play sheetmetal guy...

Oh yeah - this hood is amazing big man.
It's a huge bargain at @ $172 where I got it.
My old hood is pretty big; but this is a whole new league.
My only complaint is that they don't offer the "Ocho" glass size with 6" collars.:-?

I went to Home Depot and got some sheet metal, 4" fittings, and rivets.

The old 8" collar stuck out 2" from the edge of glass from the factory.
My new custom fitting thing sticks out 2 1/2".

I did way better on this one than with Bender.
But it took all night.

sixInchOcho-2.jpgsixInchOcho-3.jpgsixInchOcho-4.jpgsixInchOcho-5.jpg

I just need to plug a couple gaps where the two 4" fittings are inserted.
Probabley with fiberglass, and then cover seams with silver tape.

I'm going to light up Bender and scare the kids at Halloween; so he's not a total bust. :bigjoint:

Dude you are actually lucky - this is one the best Lions teams I've witnessed.

I can just imagine the Homeland Security gauntlet I would have to navigate to get Bender into Ford Field.
I set him out in the living room and he looks content enough for now.

My neighbor is heating and Cooling guy.
I should give him Bender and talk him into making full size body for halloween.
Needs a little trap door in his stomach for the candy bowl...

lol man, you are right! he would never clear security ..only way to get on that field and show his skills would be to parachute in....I thought the lions would win 10-12 games and now it looks more like 8,9 at most...think it is time to can shwartz at the end of season if no playoffs.

I finished cutting up all my new stuff; the blanket, the hood, and the molded lamp extension cable.
Just got to get a wire strain relief and some angle aluminum stock for mounting.

Here's where I'm at now:

sixInchOcho-8.jpgsixInchOcho-7.jpgsixInchOcho-6.jpgsixInchOcho-9.jpg

I stuffed some unfaced fiberwool in cracks and crevices and then liberally covered with silver tape.
Added a small sheet metal patch over a particularly deep cavity and taped that up real good.
The new fitting is very solid. Just what I wanted here.
Then I cut up the $56 heat shield 'blanket' to fit around my custom end and sealed that with silver tape.

I probably should have started with one of these instead:

muffler.jpg

The aluminum I am getting is inch and a half 1/8" angle; so the top of hood will be 1-1/2" from DensShield lid once installed.
I'll brace it with 3/4" angle stock.
