Thanks for the input HolySmoke... I appreciate the concern... But the lights aren't moving, well, not for this grow anyhows. I've got room to lower her down some, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem, plus the LST should keep her mostly outa trouble... As for this 'more light from the sides' lark, sorry man, I'm not sure I buy into that... If that is the case, wouldn't all houselights be set sideways? Regardless, the lights won't change as they're fixed in there really securely,- maybe on the next grow, if I feel I really need the room.
Household lights are omnidirectional - They MUST throw light in all directions.

Where is more light coming being emitted? simply a question of surface area being presented. Sides have dramatically more, especially as the coils are occluded by the ones in front if you try and light "spotlight style" (i.e, frontways-on).

Id also be inclined to switch to sideways. i thought they were attached with magnets?

They were attached by magnets. But after all the wiring and fixings were fitted, there was just a little too much weight there to make it safe. So now the lights are locked in that position. I can maybe rejig them for the next grow, but it's not something I'm planning on doing for this run through. I get that I'd create a little more surface area with the racked sideways, and also a bit more space. I dunno... I'll think on it... All seems happy in there atm, plus I have room if I need it by dropping her down. I will keep the light-situation on a back-burner though, in case I need to tackle it this grow. Thanks for the input everyone.

Here's a pic from a few posts back. If you look carefully you can see that I gutted a couple old VHS tapes to use as housing for all the wiring. These then had the rare-earth magnets in them, to keep things attached to the outside. But once everything was fixed in there, they were just a bit too heavy. So they're now bolted at either end of the box, through the casing and into the VHS cassettes. Let me know if you wanna better view and I'll sort one out.

Thanks for jumpin on board, let's hope it's a thread worth following.

@Jim
I'm really not banking on much, man. To be honest it's more of an experiment. As it is I've cut down on the amount I've been smoking this last year or so. So it's not a big issue if it doesn't turn out much. I've done a mid-size HPS grow in the past and managed what musta been a couple oz from that... But something this small... I've no idea... The thing is it's cheap to run, it's a pleasure to watch, and it could have a nice payoff. I'da never considered CFL's before, until I started eyeing up some of the results other growers had been getting. Plus everything just fell into place, I happened to have all the resources to hand, so the actual outlay on the grow so far has been practically zero. - How much do you think I could get from this?

10-12g would make me a very happy fella. I'm toying with the idea of taking a cutting later on, and re-vegging it on the windowsill, until this girl's all done, then putting the cutting straight in there and keeping her at 12-12 too.

Okay, a few shoddy pictures from my gf's iphone.

Nice idea. A sort of perpetual grow sort of thing?

Temp in the box seems to sit somewhere around 60-70 most of the time. No idea on the rh... That's humidity right... But she seems happy. I'll go take some pics in a bit, seems it's been a while since I did some update shots.

I'm looking to start a smiliar grow. I can't decide on lighting. I was thinking of hanging two "dome shop lights" the ones with the round metal reflector. I would put a "y" bulb socket in there and hang 4 CFL's. Not sure what the best wattage would be (1 plant at a time like urs) Any thoughts?

@JoeBloyn - Yeh mate, I sub'd to your thread. For me, this 3 light setup is workin a treat. My space is really small, I could (and probably will) push to 4cfls on the next grow. I say just go the easy way, it's so cheap and is giving nice results so far. I've not messed with anything complicated. No ph/humidity testing. Some RO'd water to get the seed going, but now since she showed fan leaves she's been on store-bought bottled water which says it has a ph of 7.5 (that's too high right? she doesn't seem to mind tho). I did put a *tiny* bit of tomatoe grow nutes in the water to boost her N as she wasn't lookin as dark green as I was expecting, but it seems to've done the trick and she's found her colour again.

It's been such an easy grow so far. Much less hassle than the bigger cab grows I've tackled in the past.

Here's a couple shots from previous grows done 10+ years back now.

This first one was some bagseed that just got chucked into the back garden. Left out throught the summer. Seem to remember it was really fluffy and airy, but she's a good size at least! :P

These pics are of my cab grow. Ohh... She was a beauty.
Strain was Mr Nice 'Shit' - and it packed a *serious* punch.
150 HPS / SCRoG - All hail the power of the SCRoG!
