Let's talk about Chemdog...

I've got a chemdawg 39 days into flower that I vegged for nearly 2 months in Dwc! She's a monster. Topped her once and supercropped her about 5 times. She was about 5 foot tall before initiating 12/12. Much to some people's horror i use advanced nutrients ph perfect haha. And gave her nothing but veg nutes through growth (around 800 - 900ppm) shes currently under a big scrog net beside a Ww x bb and a lemon og kush. I'm running about 1200ppm of bloom nutes with AN big bud atm. I'm also dosing about 1250ppm of co2 in a pretty well sealed room. She loves it. Have had no issues so far. the ww x bb had a slight mag deficiency (have been told its common with this strain as the calcium locks out the magnesium if using hard tap water?) And the lemon og kush seems to require less nitrogen in flower.... the ww x bb has the biggest nugs but less of them where as the chemdawg seems to have LOTS of medium sized nugs atm. They say chemdawg is a hard strain to grow but for me it has been the easiest of the 3! One thing I have been warned about the chemdawg is to keep humidity lower towards the end of flowering as its susceptible to bud rot!? Probably the only thing I have noticed is she can't quite handle the light intensity/heat like the other 2 strains can. Not sure if your using RO water but have been told if using tap water thats too hard then this can cause cal mag lockout? Maybe one of the more experienced members would know more about that side of things? Hope this helped somewhat??
Awesome man, thanks for the input. Sounds like a beast of a plant. You have pics posted somewhere? Like to see how your chems structure, leaves, etc look compared to the ones I have. No on the RO water here, haven't ever had issues with water quality, good water where I live. I do filter for chlorine and then let it sit for a day or two as well and also aerate my water prior to watering with a drill and mixing paddle. Use the paddle to mix up teas and feed too, works great.
Since those earlier postings I seem to have figured out their issues thus far, had enough of them to experiment with, trial and error. Kept a good detailed log book to refer back to if i needed. 2 of them in particular are looking to overgrow all the other plants. Growing wide and bushy, full of tops already and I'm vegging still. I'll pull another handful of clones from the best plants and then flower them. I'll keep a mom out of whichever gets the best turnout at harvest. I refer to "best" as the potency/smell aspect and look at quantity as secondary. I'll have to put up a current pic when I'm at home, haven't had time to hang out with them for a few days. Lol, hope they're not lonely.

A 2 day ago photo and a today photo after yesterdays elemental sulfur water ph correction for the soil. One dang solution caused another problem. Lol. Increase of P amendments topdressing raised ph to 7 or so causing micros and Ca def signs. Another problem solved so far, so good I hope it stays.20190228_151410.jpg 20190226_074432.jpg

Awesome, hopefully you are on to something! I'll try and get a few pics for ya but she has grown that big under the screen i have had to spread her across to the white widow big bud screen on one side and the lemon og on the other side (one big screen, 3 big plants, 3 600w hps. with chemdawg being in the middle) so the chemdawg has become intertwined with the 2 other strains. One thing I can say by look, touch and smell, she is the best quality of the 3. Very sticky, dense and the smell is very overpowering! And lingers.

That's awesome, I love that stink.

Thanks

Looking for more grow info. There's good stuff in this thread just not enough.

Peace
The Chem 91 I grew for a bit wasn't as easy to grow during flower as some other strains. It has a high calyx to leaf ratio so there's not much room for forgiveness if you don't feed them enough. Where a plant with more leaves is easier since the plant can steal from the leaves and there's a lot more so there's more room for error. If you get what I'm saying.

Don't get me wrong though. It's not that hard to grow. It's just is a little pickier than easy strains like Skunk #1. It grows like an OG too if that helps.

When potassium levels are too high it begins to lockout Calcium and magnesium. You should check your soil PH too. These should help.

I have the chem91 skva (yes it's real), Chem4, and ChemD clones. And they are all pretty heavy feeders. When going into flower, they get hungry on the cal-mag early on. The 91 seems to want a a heavy Cal mag feeding all the way through. It's best to run a simple 1 part nutrients if you are on bottles or salts. I go with dyna-gro or Jack's. Never have any issues with them. Enjoy.
I know this is an old reply, but as someone who has kept Chem 91 mothers for years Dyna-Gro with Cal Mag all the way through veg and flower works perfect. No issues with lockout ever

Are you just using the dynagro Grow? I haven’t had the easiest time with the chem moms, seems like I’m often juggling with deficiencies

I keep mine simple, because with work and life time is in short supply. So my regimen is:

RO Water
Cal Mag
Dyna Grow
Mammoth P (every 2 weeks)

every other week I do a Heavy 16 foliar spray till I start flower
