This was tonight. Still have 33-ish days to go. I just switched to this light around Tuesday? I think? Before this I was using BlackStars with 3w diodes and they were not growing as well as they are now. The light looks purple on camera, but in life, it's kind of high def natural color with a slightly blue-leaning tinge.

I plan to get another one next month or ASAP.
How's it going?! Wanna give us an up-date on your Viper-Spectra grow? Looked like a good start back on the 10th.

No ballast to bypass and these just pop in like a normal bulb and boom on. They have a strip across the top where you can see it's not wasting much light reflecting anymore either but that's how you know which way to snap it in.

The top of the led strip in the tubes is to the top, it's pretty self explanatory. These could be improved though with no casing and a mix of led spectrums imo but for now these are much better than the t5 flouros

Hey, I just started a personal grow (well, I'm into 30 days of flower)... vegged under CFL and switched to a cheap LED for value... pretty happy... trying to figure out best use though and help would be appreciated.

The space is about 3'x4'x4'... it's a 300 watt LED (150 veg/150 bloom/300 using both aka "full spectrum"). The light is not rated for the space (it's meant to do 3'x2' in veg and 2'x1.5' in bloom and supposed to be hung about 5' feet up) but some people reviewed it well even in similar spaces.

I've had to hang it low and I'm curious if the added intensity is helping that center out more than the diminished light at the periphery is hurting those (since I guessed that's what might happen I'm also using CFLs for added light along the sides... better safe than sorry).

I'm also curious if there's a point in using only red spectrum? I mean in my case, I only have 150 watts in that spectrum, and less area coverage... whereas I have more coverage and wattage in full spectrum (which I'm sure most know isn't true full spectrum, just both sets of lights on at the same time.

There's 6 plants in there now and they're doing well (very well considering everything I've put them through) but it's a bit crowded... just looking to make the best arrangement with what I have.

Thanks in advance.

WHOO LED!

I started out with CFLs for upfront cost and convenience... but wound up with an LED. I was looking for the best balance of value (upfront & running costs) to yields, as well as other factors (area coverage, hanging height) and It seemed like LED was the way to go.

I still hear a lot that high powered lights can produce better yields, and for the most part I don't disagree, but I'm not going for record yields (personal/hobby/mini grower) and I think the value thing is a big deal, AND LEDs are getting better and better so that gap seems to be closing. I don't see myself trying HPS or MH any time soon.

I am curious... my light is 300w, adjustable (150 veg/150 bloom/300 combined)... is it better to use each mode separately, or just go for the full 300? I know that using only the blue in veg will help keep my plants short (which I want) so I can see myself using just that then... but what about in flower? In general I guess... what's more efficient, 300 watts of "full" or 150 of targeted? If 150 targeted could get me >50% (pref 3/4) of the growth of 300 of "full" it'd be worth it for me to use one at a time, otherwise I don't see the point (seems like a gimmick).

You will learn as you go here if you pay attention to the several intelligent growers and builders of lights. Help abounds. For now, all the power you can keep cool in flower, and when you decide you might upgrade you can do it with a knowing mind. Good luck!

OK! :). Thankfully heat is not an issue for me... my ambient temps are in the 50s and 60s, my grow box never even hits 80 (I have to use a heat cable to warm my soil to 70's at night) so adding heat is actually a good thing (though with LED it's only a few degrees anyway).

So now I "know"... and knowing is half the battle :-D.

Autos are much different. Reason I like them is my space is set up more for them. I do have veg and flower areas but I don't have everything fully secluded off. Training as you know determine the size and shape of the plants which I have done to the fullest extent. Where in the past my photo growing was trained extensively but also done outdoors too. I topped and lollipopped to even the canopy and lower lights. This helped prevent massive colas.

These autos are very large, being short and stocky I was destined to get some fat colas. These plants here range from 4oz to 8oz each which is pretty damn good for a 80 day seed to chop plant. The resin production is a little lower on Dinafem strains but the trade off is size. Quality of the plants and smoke is great and much better than the local competition. I sell every bit of the buds and extract the lower popcorn and sugar leaves. For me it's about the money and money unfortunately comes with yield. Anything over 250 per oz is unheard of here. So producing lower quantity of top shelf isn't smart.

Everyone's a critic and the best pot grower around. But what counts is My stuff sells, it is produced efficiently and fasts.
Ha! This is funny. Don't let anyone get under your skin.
I grow some of the best weed in our state & it goes for $175 in bulk to be competitive.
And I'm told over n over again, it's really some of the best in our state.
You impressed the shit out of me w/ those huge buds & outstanding harvest yields. Especially being fairly new to indoor growing w/ a good light source. You ain't getting buds like that w/ them Kinds, that's for sure.
Now that you have your temps right, your next run will tighten up.
Over the course of 3 grows, you'll have this place drooling over your bud!
Ohhh, Smo, how'd you get such big n trich covered buddery bro? I can see it now. lol!
Keep up the good work.

New thread if anyone's interested. All are welcome!
It incorporates the 2 most hated lights out by the RIU vendor club.
Come see why! Lol!

Yeah brother it's not the lights.... They're pretty good lights....for the price there's Forsure better but you just act like you're young some times. And of course talking about your light like their shit doesn't stink....or isn't made in China when it is.

Anyway no one cares.

You guys are aware of how I was under attack when I bought these right?
I get it though, point taken, & I'll cool down on the counter responses.
I'd say, most people know better by now & im not gonna take that shit.
I just want to help people see the results. That's all that really matters to me.
All the other BS will be put to rest. Thnx for your constructive criticism!
