Still concerned my 8 x 3590s are tracking behind my 600 watt hps norm, this is 3.5 weeks in from flip after almost 3 weeks veg

This bud development is slower than what im used to under hps, yet intensity is slightly higher and more even with the Cree 3590 72v cobs, im worried the 3500k spectrum is not as good as the Philips HPS.

Im sure the cobs will outperform in summer... but at the moment, im still sitting on the fence re: 400 watt 3590 cobs vs 600 watt Phillips Master Sont pia plusE40 Made in Belgium.

The Variety is my own creation, as im a home fem seed breeder.

Im talking real world here not what should happen in theory.

Ill keep every one posted as the cob crop progresses and my thoughts as a 16 year+ HPS grower

whats the temperature in each room ? With less heat form the cobs you may need to adjust grow room ventilation to keep grow room temperature.

So are you actually running a side by side? If so, do you have a thread?
I feel this information you are providing is very, very important & useful here.
I'm an HPS grower to whom has recently started using led.

Trying to build a light for a 4x4. Using either 2 or 3 hlg185c1400, should I use 12 cxb3590s or would 8 be enough?
either
x---x---x---x
x---x---x---x
or
x---x---x---x
x---x---x---x
x---x---x---x

Would 12 be overkill? is only 8 enough? Thanks

Would they just be hotter and brighter with the 240-1750? So I might go 1750mA with 8 cobs, or 1400mA with 12 cobs.

Brighter...Ya I'd recommend it for ya in ur situation...From my understanding talking with a few guys on here that yse it ,and reading a little on it ,that instead of my 4 COBS Bar running 200-Watts-50-watts each,Ill be running at 250-Watts so around 60-plus watts each..So losing Im guessing 3 to 4% efficiency but driving harder...More photons(:(:,,But still very efficient...and the extra heat is really nothing imo
Peace an love....

Hey all, I am an LED user, first time, and liking it a lot!

My budget was such that I was trying to get the most/best lighting for my price (ie.: inexpensive to the point of cheap). I'd started out with CFL for veg... but needed something stronger for a smaller space, and CFL produce too much heat in those conditions.

SO I shopped around, and with HIDs all being so high priced, and hot (again, small space...3x4x4ft)I decided on LED, and had to shop around a bit for one I could afford.

So I got this https://www.amazon.com/Global-Spectrum-Greenhouse-Fixtures-Switches/dp/B00ZUWNH2Q/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1470521966&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=globalstar+300w+led

And got this

So I'm pretty stoked!

I hope this "cheap" light will last a while... since it seems to be working well so far, and other options are still pricey.

How tall is the spot? If you can keep the cobs 24"away from the tops i would go with 12 cobs@ 1750 plus you could dim if you use dimmable drivers
If height is an issue use the 12 @1400ma and again go with dim option. I like what im seeing with my setup so far.15 cobs in a 5 x 6 running @1050ma.i might change drivers to 1400ma but maybe not if the weight is there.let ya know in a few more weeks lol

I wanted to try this burple light when I first started. I feel like I got beet on my burple experience w/ the Hydroponics Hut.
Some burples gotta work, no?

Expensive right? I wonder. See how it peaks in 680, rather then 660 or 630.
Does anybody around here get good results w/ their burple light? I mean tried through comparing to their HPS or white led. That way they know whether they got good results or not.

Got my lights hanging up. Getting them ducted up in the AM but had to see how they looked.
What's going under them bad-boys?
How many watts per sq' will these 2 provide? Dimensions on that tent?
Glad to see you got the vented ones. Good choice.
What were you running before buying these & did you like it? What's the draw on those Johnsons? Are the components exposed to the air through venting?
Gonna do a thread?
Hope you like them & they perform to your expectations.

I have never grown indoor before so these are my first artificial lights lol. Its in a 5x9 tent but the scrogs below the lights are sized to roughly 4x4 each. Will be running (4) 5 gallon smart pots under each scrog. (Will be popping about 25 beans and narrowing/culling it down to the best/females) Gonna be a mixture of Redeyed -Loctite, Trichome Jungle-Sour Mandarina, Bigworm Space Wookie, and C.C. -TahoeOG.

The heatsinks and drivers are exposed to the air during venting.

Won't be starting till I get back from a little camping trip but I will have a grow journal and my Insta is "the_unknown_grower"

Im pretty happy with my platinum. These two acdc were grown from seed, first run. They got some side light from hps most of their life, now towards the end they are getting some side light from cobs but mostly under the platinum.
