I’m also considering sticking with my solar cure flower power. I don’t know how well they will work being 6 inches from the canopy though.

Anyone got any input in this? I figure I can have 1 fixture per square meter directly in the center of the sqm but I’m not sure on how well the coverage would be and or if 6 inches would be too close?

This is EXACTLY why the form factor of a 1' strip with UVB & UVC diodes from Cutter is so incredibly versatile. Hanging those clunky ass T8 solacures, even OUT of a fixture and just wired straight to the pins, is still quite difficult to fit above your canopy. When you've already got a large LED fixture taking up virtually all the space, if not most definitely the center, where you'd want your bulb, it's just not ideal.
But a 1' strip mounted right to the center of a tent ceiling would be about as easy as it could get.
I PRAY these Cutter 280-310nm strips can do the job of adding enough UV to make a real noticeable difference.

How many of those cutter strips would you need though for an even foot print?

With just 3 of those cutter strips per sqm it would cost me 3000 usd. That’s nuts
You only need 1 per 4x4. Read the information on the page.

Coverage:
The typical recommendation for coverage of UV is 1 watt per foot. These are point source LEDs so .5 watt per square foot is recommended.
These pull 75.6Watts. 37.8W each channel.
From a trellis up to the ceiling in a 4x4, is like barely 48sq ft.

Yeah but in a sog grow where my light fixture is 6inch off the canopy the plants directly below this tiny fixture will be fried

Its surely not gonna give even coverage if it’s just one tiny strip In a 4x4
This is why I've been repeatedly asking @welight to share whatever I formation he has on them, Including implementation in tents. There's quite a few of us here now who are eyein those strips. Hope we get some sort of answer eventually.

To me it seems a physical impossibility to have them close to the plants at 1 per 4x4 you’d need them as high as de gavitAs

If you dim them you’d need more of them per sqm to get the coverage and at that price it would bankrupt most people
Ugh... I'm talking about if you wanted to have them 6" away as you stated. The website says what it says. I'm gonna have hope it's all you need. But until Mark gets back to me, we won't know for sure what it'd take to adequately cover a 4x4.

Yeah I know what you were talking about buddy. Is my understanding of led light coverage completely wrong?

If you had one single strip in the middle of your 4 x 4 and you dim it to a low enough wattage so that the plants directly below your strip at 6 inches don’t get fried your coverage is severely diminished and the plants not directly under the strip don’t get enough uv to be beneficial.

Personally I don’t see why they have developed a strip with such a high wattage. I personally think lots of smaller diodes lower wattage and cheaper price would be perfect to slot inbetween our strips

I think 2' and 4' strips should be built over the 1' and use the same amount of diodes just so they're spread out more.

Yeah that’s my thinking so you’d need one strip over every ft of space and that’s extremely costly. I’d love to see the prices come down

Well from what it says about 0.5w pet sqft of UV and this being a 78 watt strip, you'd really just need to disperse the 12 diodes over a longer, 4' board to get the job done I'd think.

I think you’d have the same issue with a 6.5w diode 6 inches really isn’t much distance for the light to spread out. It’s why I have decided to scrap my 400 cob unit I built and switch to strip lights to make better use of my space with lights very close to the canopy.

Hopefully over next year or so they bring out UV diodes cheaper. I think the issue is that companies like Samsung and cree bridglux etc are not building grow lights, it’s just handy that they work for us. I don’t know of any other industry personally that would want a uv led strip light so it will be tough to get them cheap I reckon.

Do you know of any good single diodes you can buy for uv? I did a quick google but not much coming up
