LED Comparisons?

Oh ,No..
You probably thought that that " DiscoLover" was for you ?
Nahhhh ...
No!

It 's a whole "movement" ...
:P
...
Contribute to what ?
(I do not see the need of any contribution ,really ..
I'm already seeing .....amazing ...things going on here ...!!!..)

DankSwag, there are plenty of led combos out there ....
I got to know couple of things ,though ....

And really ,trust me on those ,if you want /can ...

-Led lights do not grow plants ,just by themselves ....

-If you really wanted the best value for your money..
Well ...Then you certainly would have not started the thread like :

" Is there any guide for the consumer on how to compare LED panels to the next one.
Things to look for and to watch out for? Is there anyone that has compared a high end model such as Apache AT600 with a Dorm Grow 900 Full Spectrum at half the cost or anything like that.

I am a frugal bastard and won't spend a dime more then I need too if one LED light produces equivalent results for less money then a more expensive make and model
."

Why ?

Think it over a bit .

You 're a "consumer " .....
Thus 'restricted' to a range of pre-selected (not by you ,of course ) designs,
starting from crap to what you are referring as high end devices ...

If you still think that I'm an instigator.,you're wrong ..
You haven't seen me -yet- "in mood " ...

BTW ,nice grow ....
If it's real ...
Cause most growers I'm aware of ,they' would need a K of HID ,
to have those juicy wonderful buds of yours ....

But then...
As I've already stated to you ...
-Led lights do not grow plants ,just by themselves ....

It might be the fact that you're an awesome grower ,too...
Or something else ...
Still ....
I've tried many different leds myself ....

And I got to know -be aware of -certain things ,by experience and only ...
Do not forget that ,please .

Welcome and take good care ..

Cheers.
:fire:
I started my thread sincerely, I am sincere in that I will not pay 2K for an LED light if there is an equivalently less expensive LED panel out. Equivalent in the context which I used it, means equal in every way but cost. So the text you quoted is out of context and is pretext on which you have expounded your assertion about my goal here. Couldn't be further from the truth. I've come asking questions and noting what I have experience. Thanks again for the fodder.

So DS ..
What you're saying is that this :
http://www.dormgrow.com/240-watt-led-grow-light.html

along with " a 90W LED UFO (draw 82watt cost $150)
and two tertiary 12W Red (Bloom) (draw 12w cost $45 each) LED bulbs."

...Have supported the growth and flowering of such plants as the ones at the pics ?

..........
Well ...

What's left is that we all should buy that combo ....

246 Watts ....

You and Mr.X ,for crying out loud ...

The only jedi- growers,I'm aware of !

Share some of the Force, bro !

Cheers .

Here is a picture of the lights, and yes if they are actually just drawing what the specs say, that is a total of 246watts in a 2x2.

So weight numbers will come soon, like I said I mix my own soil nothing but water and TLC was provided with these lights. It is what it is bro, the only thing I can not confirm about the lights is if they are pulling only 246 for I don't have the gear to get that measurement I am only going on product specs.

Ok ...
Then ,it's YOU the one that should contribute to the rest of us,really ....
Better start telling some of your secret methods there ....

I want to learn how to grow with leds ,like you do !
Yes.

I also want to get (it seems that is the yield you'll be gettin' ) a pound or so,from 240 Watts of 'cheap' BridgeLux, Epistar, Optotech led lights ...

Please ,teach me ,Master !

Been at the LED game since 2009. Lots of Chinese made lights and DIY lights with Chinese emitters. I had some decent grows but I always felt I could kick it up to a higher level. Like SDS and GG I came to the conclusion that high quality components like Cree, Bridgelux, Luxeon, Nichia, Osram etc. are the best bang for the buck. And to get that high quality DIY is most often the least expensive. I build my own simply because very few retail lights clear that bar for me. Apachetech and Area51 are the only ones I would even consider as a retail solution.

By the way DormGrow claims to use 3w BridgeLux, Epistar, Optotech light emitting diodes.

You might be an AWESOME grower...

Cause those guys are at least hilarious ...

The G8-240 Full Spectrum LED grow light by G8LED is our most popular grow light. This 240W grow light by G8LED has the growing power of 400(better make it a 1000,,,) Watts of a HID (HPS or MH) System.:lol::lol::lol: This light is for your entire grow cycle and provides intense coverage for a minimum of 6 square feet and greater. Place two or more :dunce:3 feet on center and increase the grow area per light from cross coverage. Add a 90W Red UFOs :dunce:during flowering for max yield. Penetration:?: up to 60 inches past the plant canopy. We use high quality Infrared diodes which output a nearly invisible wavelength :lol::lol::lol:beyond the light spectrum.:lol::lol::lol:With electrical savings of about 300 watts per hour,??????this light will continually save electricity over its 50,000 hour lifetime.:lol::lol:G8LED has formulated and tested the ideal color ratio with 8 bands of the color spectrum including Infrared (IR), Ultraviolet plus 6000K white. Thanks. You may want to take a good look at those 'name brand' emitters. Good luck finding those emitters produced by any of the names mentioned. The Chinese manufacturers' claims are mostly horse hockey. It's not that they won't work. The issue for me is the low efficiency, high failure rates, and questionable engineering of the pre-made Chinese grow lights. I have addressed all of those issues by building my own.

My question was where can I use in my current grow space as in the pics I showed a 2x2 area using Dorm Grow at 246watts for under $550 that can produce flowers like I shown in those pics.

I've looked at some of your threads showing the Hans verses different lights and from what I can tell (and I realize strains make the difference) Hans doesn't seem to produce what I am producing with my Dorm Grow lights. But to be fair I'd like to do a side by side using same strain and environment with only difference being lights to quantify my statement that my Dorm Grow lights seem to produce better than what I have seen from your Hans grows. I could be wrong but only one way to find out is a side by side.

So pray tell where do I get a Hans panel like your using? I've check the internet seems like lot of imitator web sites selling Hans Led lighting. I want to be fair and do this with genuine Hans panel.

DankSwag
You have to remember that I used 65watts over a 1 x 2 area with hans each time, your using 246watts over 2x2 .......... efficient leds aren't magic and will not overcome that big of a wattage bump; hence the smaller bud size on my test runs. Still amazed at what the little panel can do with such a minimal draw IMO..

Also I'm not a great indoor grower and constantly trying new fert/soil mixes to find a simple one step solution. Almost there hopefully.

these are the real Hans panels:

good luck grower

No intention for a fodder ..
Just give me some time ,to 'digest' the 'revealance' ,that Osram ,Cree ,Official Bridgelux ,Luxeon and so many other leds ,which've either been tested on numerous DIY led lights or either already installed on most of 'high-end' panels ,are totally worthless compared to those 3w 'BridgeLux', Epistar & Optotech leds in that awesome led panel ,the Dorm grow ....

WTF ?
with $3000 I can have 10 of those ,with a total of 2400 W ,and probably harvest 10 pounds per '3 month session '...

Thanx for the amazing info ,presented at this thread DS.
You 've opened up my eyes!
You 've showed me the way to the Truth !
Please, give me some time ,to get my shit together ,again ...
It was a great shock ,for me ,you know ...

All the time was there ..
The Absolute LED light !

Dorm Grow!

(Guod,I hope you're reading all these ,brother ...
Somebody has to notify Heliospectra ,that they have a serious competitor ...
At less than half wattage ,from their L4A...With more bands ,also ...
With a way slicker design ,from their "camping-fridge"of a light ...
And last but not least, at the same price tag of one L4A ,
I can have more than 20 pieces of that miracle light ! )

Dank, SDS is putting on the Hellas swag, because he ABSOLUTELY knows what he is talking about, although he gets to the point in a round about way.

I would check out his threads to understand how to quantify what makes good LED's.

I read all his shit, because the man knows the #'s inside and out.

SupraSPL, MrFLux, guod, bad k, Positivity, Fran J, hyroot, Mohican, Capt Morgan, GreenGenes, on and on all will lead you down a correct path......... if you want the knowledge you have to read this forum top and bottom.

Get into what makes an LED light source tick, PPFD, ppf and umole/sec........that is my advice. The dorm grow doesn't even offer those, and that should be your 1st Red Flag.....

Check out the Cree CXA 3070 DIY grows, probably the best bang for your buck at the top intensities and efficiency. Bar none. I calculated a 500w version [Real 500w's of output] at around $700 or so....that would start to put your near a 1000w hps....

No,not really ....
Others've done this, before me ,actually...

Through his portrayal in Plato's dialogues, Socrates has become renowned for his contribution to the field of ethics, and it is this Platonic Socrates who lends his name to the concepts of Socratic irony and the Socratic method, or elenchus. The latter remains a commonly used tool in a wide range of discussions, and is a type of pedagogy in which a series of questions is asked not only to draw individual answers, but also to encourage fundamental insight into the issue at hand.

I meant no offense SDS, we live in a culture of gotta have it right now, a minute ago and no waiting. So it is refreshing when someone actually spells it all out beyond what most are willing to share.

DS, I think Walmart has a power meter for $15. It probably depends on the Walmart but I saw one there a few months back in the light bulb isle.
Thanks Supra,

Walmart is a little bit of ride for me in traffic, I had traffic unless I am ahead of it all.
Anywise stopped by local hardware and electrical stores in town, couldn't find one.
I will have to get from Amazon, any make model that is more precise and reliable? :blsmoke:
