Jack Herer + The Cheese - The Journey Continues....From Day 1 Flower

Hey Jamie. Week 1 pic update later today. I'll try and get some pics of my space so you can see it better. It's kinda hard to get a wide shot of the space though as I'm working in pretty cramped conditions. My flowering room is actually just my converted 6' x 9' garden shed. I've made a few changes since then, but the basic dimensions are still the same. Not bad for a garden shed eh!? ;)

This was my plan/design from last year before I got all DIY

Nice, I remember seeing you post that somewhere actually. :blsmoke:

I'm trying to think of what I should set up a room with. I have a 1000Watter switchable ballast and another 600Watt HPS but I'm unsure
what the best way to max my growing potiental would be. Oh well I can't wait to see grow room pics.:peace:

So it's been 8 days flowering for my JH#5 and The Cheese. They are doing great so far. Really stretching out nicely. Think I'm going to do a little more bondage over the weekend on the JH#5 and open up the canopy a bit more. I'll have a bit more space for her as I'll be harvesting the final 2 JH clones that are in the background soon.

The changes I made to my room are keeping my environment perfect....and I still have more power in the fans for hotter days in the summer.

Max Day...

Min Night...

So this a view through the door to my space, as you can see, my access is not great, but it does the job.

and now for the plants....first up JH#5

and The Cheese....

and herer's a little something I made earlier!

Hey Jamie. Nice to have you herer. Thanks for following along!

Thanks v much Nat. Just get yourself a pollen collector mate and you can have some of that fine powder for yourself my friend, I've only had mine since x-mas and I'm amazed how much pollen it collects for me. I've got a small pollen press too and it's just sooo easy to press yourself a nice little nug of hash for the bong! bongsmilie

The buds at the back are from my last batch of clones which I killed from thirst. These 2 only just made it. So they are not as good as they should be, but I can't complain considering the neglect. Just glad to have something to harverst from them really or I'd be running out of smoke again before my next lot are ready.

The new plants will NOT be neglected. I really want maximum yield from my Cheese and especially, my monster JH#5. :blsmoke:
Yeah man sounds cool but to be honest i just use a coffee grinder and a tea strainer:mrgreen:

Ah...I knew it u fucker....turn my back on you and you'd be clubbing me on the head with one of your monster buds and running off with my hash. Bastard! hahahaha....LOL!

Oh yeah it's clean....that's the bubble bags for ya. I made some hash last year but it had a green tinge to it. So I invested in a small set of bubble bags this time and I have no regrets. It just makes collection so easy and hassle free and you don't have to wait around for things to settle. My missus would not be happy about buckets of trichomes sitting around settling in the house, so I have to turn my hash around quickly when she is not home. I don't think I could do it without the bags. And the hash is just so pure and smooth and lovely. I love it, just wish I could make more, but for a small time grower like myself, I need to collect up my trim for a bit before it's worth getting the bags out again.

It's been about 11 days and roots are coming out the cubes. Looks like it's gonna be 100% success again :)

I did nothing excpet mist them twice a day. Today I foilar fed with a light fish mix as the JH are yellowing slightly. I'll pot them up tomorrow.

JH on the right, The Cheese on the left.

Cheers 2kstyle. I still haven't potted them clones up yet. Roots are going a bit crazy now! Note to self: stop being so high for a moment and pot up clones!

I've had some other stresses in the flowering room though that have been keeping me busy. I started to notice a yellowing of the top leaves last week on both my strains, this has been getting worse. So I've been doing lots of reading and diagnosed the problem as an Iron (Fe) deficiency. Possible Zinc and Boron too, but most likely Iron. I have never had a micro nutrient deficiency before, so this is new stuff for me.

After a bit research, I found the cause of the Fe def is most likely too high PH causing a lockout. But this is new soil for me too, so it is possible this 'plus' mix is a bit lacking in iron as well. Either way....

My solution so far has been to foilar feed with a Seaweed Extract containing 2% 'sequestered' Iron which I picked up down the local garden centre. I've done this twice now and will leave them for a few days to see how they go, but it does not seem to be spreading for now. This this is just a short term fix though as the problem needs to fixed at the roots.......

For the next watering I am going to water at a PH of 6.6 with a feed containing just a light dose of BioBizz root juice. This contains loads of micro nutrients including Iron and Zinc. I will also test the run off water to get an idea of what my soil PH is at.

I'll update with some pics later so you can see what I am talking about.

So overall things are looking v healthy and I'm pretty pleased coming up to the 2 weeks flowering mark.

But look on top....the yellowing of the leaves!

I'm hoping I can correct this issue over the next week and things should progress along nicely. Fingers crossed anyway!

make sure you're still giving them enough N (we use equal parts veg and bloom nutes for the first 4 weeks of flower)...

though on some leaves it appears to be kinda a PH fluctuation problem (especially that fan leaf in the bottom left hand corner...)

best of luck friend

hey Ian. Thanks for your thoughts man. I had also read that it could be from an unstable PH as well, although I do PH my water. But I've re-calibrated my PH pen to make sure it is spot on.

I should be ok on the N. I also keep up with the veg ferts for the first few weeks flowering. I'll keep ya posted how I get on. Cheers mate.

wots up SW, u got this bit of yellowing as well... home.grower had it, he just raised the EC to combat it (i think). Had a bit of yelowing on my cheese similar to urs, will be watching to c how it clears up.
nice growing.

I get that kind of yellowing on my tops when i have the light about 8" away and i have found that it goes away incrementally as you raise the light and does no damage and you get the advantage of the extra growth from lowering the light.
Having said all that, that may not be why your leaves are yellowing:mrgreen::peace::joint:
