Improving chances of Females from seed

So i personally was under the impression that the seed had pre-determined sex. I guess this is wrong, as many people with vastly more knowledge than myself, say it is not true, and that sex can be influenced through environment. Besides lower temps ~70 and higher humidity ~70% (in veg first month) what else have people found to improve the chances of getting females from seedlings.

i know a lot of people say the same thing you think, that sex in seeds is predetermined, but idk, i'm not sure i buy into that theory personally..
in the grow bible by jorge cervantes, he says there are a few things that can be done to influence sex of the plants, i'll google it in a few.. now, i'm not one of the people who thinks jorge walks on water, so take what he says with a grain of salt..
imma go look for a link, brb..

its predetermined in my book! You can not change the outcome of male or female unless you are making feminized seeds. To say that you can influence sex from a normal regular seeds is wrong. Just another MYTH in cannibus growing.

Only thing that is find a bit confusing about being able to change the sex of your seed, is if you made fem seeds, you wouldn't be able to make any grow into males with just environmental conditions.. Maybe force some to "hermie" with extreme stress, but I'm pretty sure that's about it. BUT then again, a lot of reptiles in eggs that have already been fertilizes, can have their sex determined by incubation temps, so who knows for sure. Esp without proper studying of cannabis legally smh

It's funny how the people who say you can change the sex, or at least influence it a little, say cool temps make female, because that is the same in reptiles.

At three leave stage less light, lower tempo and more blue light. Leads to higher fem ratio.

An old trick is if you have a plant you've grown and put into bud and was male, keep the soil it grew in. Start your seeds in it. They will have male hormons left. Makes seeds want to be female because they think there is already a male around. Works on other plants that requirers male and female plants to reproduce. Many plants self pollinate themselves.

IVE READ A PLANT DETERMINES ITS SEX BETWEEN ITS 3RD AND 4TH SET OF TRUE LEAVES. useing a high nitrogen fertilizer, proper ph, blue spectrum lighting and an 18/6 light sced are all known to help promote more female plants..

feminized seeds do not contain a male chromisome so they can only be female, regular seeds contain a male and female chromisome and the plant determines its sex between the 2nd and 4th set of true leaves and is determined by outside factors, ie high n, blue spec, 18/6 light sced and temp...FACT!!!!

I don't know if I believe half of anyone here says. People preaching fact with no evidence behind it. At least racer used a master grower as his backup.

I haven't had any males since I started putting my seeds in boiling water for 5 minutes.

I know a lot of you will think I'm making this whole thing up, but you're right...I am making this up. It is highly probable though that I would not have any males from those seeds, but I probably wouldn't have females either...

I'm almost kind of sorry I wasted your time making you read this post. I'll try not to do it again.

That doesn't make sense. If every seed contained an "x" and a "y" chromosome then they would all end up being male

Also, if outside factors are what determines this, then how do I get a 50/50 split when I germinate a pack of seeds?

IOW, if I germinate a 10 pack and my environment is set to produce males, then why do I get some males and some females out of a pack? According to you, I should get all males, or all females depending on my environment.

im not a scientist, im just stating the facts of what ive read..google it!! also when i germinate a 10 pack of seeds i normally get 8 out of ten females all in the same enviroment..so i dont know if its true all i do know is that everything i stated i read on a search.. however it is a fact that regular seeds have a female and male chromisome,,so why are they not all hermies?? i guess its up to God or ur enviroment!!

8/10 eh? Can I send you my seeds and have you germinate them for me? You can keep a cut of the best pheno. :bigjoint:

So just my 2 cents. The way genetics work in male/female organisms is 50% male 50% female. If a seed has both x and y chromosomes, it will be male. If a seed contains only x chromosomes, it will be female. Sex is predetermined by the male parent.

Saying you can change a the sex of a plant via spectrum or any other means is like saying you can make a girl child a boy by buying her all blue things.

Granted with plants you could potentially force the to hermaphrodite and change sex....but then theyre hermies, not changed sex....
