Hoping to get some suggestions for a complete LED noob looking to make the plunge...

Lets take DIY off the table from jump. I'm sure I could save some coin, but I'm a lil challenged when it comes to electronics.

I'm currently running 3 rows of plants in flower, each with a 1000 watt HPS that moves overhead about 18" on a light rail. I'm running a 600 watt conversion bulb in veg also on a light rail, along with a 4 bulb T5.

My footprint in flower is apx 5' x 4' (could get away with 5' x 3') for each row, and my veg room footprint is apx 6' x 4'.

So, what brands offer the best bang for the buck, and are there single panels that would cover my footprint for my flowering rows, or am I looking at having to buy 2 panells per row?

Any info on brands, prices, warranties, etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'm in the process of building another cab (10"x18"x36") and I would like to run some CREEs in it. Any suggestions? I was thinking 1 or 2 cxa3050s. If I run 2, is it possible to run them both off of one driver (if so, which driver) and both installed on one heat sink? Concept wise, I'm thinking along the lines of something like the tasty led t2 2100 but without the shell. I'm completely new to DIY but I'm guessing it shouldn't be too hard. I just need a point in the right direction.

I'm a little confused on the room sizes? are you saying 5w x 4L and 6w x 4L just odd sizes. I'm betting its 4w x 5L and 4w x 6L

I like pictures =) alot

what happen to billy? the first time grow, with the kinds and apache at200, he was asymptomatic, till some leafs on his last post where having some problems, I tired to find the posts.

I like to see his update. he was getting ready to flip. that was weeks ago.

You've been asking about a lot of cob and driver combinations. It's ok to do the math yourself. vf * number of cobs is your voltage, make sure it's within the range given on the datasheet. vf * current is watts, same deal.

No need to have other people do math for you. You can get the vf from the Cree PCT, or Supra's spreadsheets.

I must admit that I like it when others do my math. It gives me a warm and secure feeling like my favorite blanket as a child or a good pair of house slippers. I am aware of the invention of calculators and basic mathematical principles but alas my confidence in my abilities was stunted as a youth. Though not clinically diagnosed I suspect I suffer from dyscalculia. I confess that numbers have always been my personal achilles heel.

For the sake of community spirit and in the interest of my own personal growth. I wish to publically thank all members of this community who have unselfishly deciphered the mysteries of mathematics on my behalf...Oh look an airplane!

The flowering room is 15 x 10. I was referring to the footprint for each one of the 3 sets of plants in the room, all under 1000 watt HPS lights. 3 rows of plants, 3 lights being replaced.

Yes, each footprint is 4' wide x 5' long. I can post up some pics, but I'm not sure what that's going to accomplish beyond a basic description. I want to replace three 1,000 HPS lights in my flower room, each covering a 4' x 5' area. What's my best bet?

Alright, how about this combination? Any issues with it?
Driver: ELG100-C1400B
LED: CXB30700N0HAB30G
The driver will push 2 leds.

Recommended a product that you know is inferior for more money? You just posted many a reason why too. You don't have to do these guys favors bud. The facts are the facts.
I cannot justify spending the money on any other lights for a comparison. To me, there is no comparison thus far, in the COB mkt. that I know of. There's a few non-cob lights maybe. Maybe!
Glad to see a company showing trasperancy. Glad to see the owner helping people in the community. Glad to see them providing the best components on the mkt. Those things alone are more then many other companies offer.
But the facts remain. Amare will out-par just about any production light I can find, w/ equal or better efficiency, & by far the best spectrum. Their prices are less or equal offering so much more.
Plus the service & Warrenty. Geeze! It's a no brainer.

Don't worry I suggested cobs in general. This was also done before I laid my hands on my first Amare. When u see folks using those 45 watt Amazon plastic led mood lights I think anything is an upgrade even some of the companies that advertise here. Now that I received my Amare it will be a cold day in hell before I think about another light or recommend them.


There are a lot of haters here that are willing to pick the good apart. It's common and unfortunately it's life. Off subject but worth the time, a few years ago I bought my wife a plain Jane SUV. We were flooded with compliments. Now last year we traded it for a shiny new white Benz. You wouldnt believe the negative criticism. From everything to mileage, color, even people calling it an over priced Volkswagen. Amare to me is the Mercedes of lighting. In short the Price, components, customer service, warranty, everything. It's fairly easy to dump 4-6 cobs in a housing with good parts. Have it assembled and start advertising like mad. It's another to take the tremendous amount of time, research and development to create a one of a kind masterpiece. Let the haters hate and let the owners laugh in happiness. I can't say it enough how happy I am that I found the light.

If someone were selling Amare lights to the general public I would totally buy the bit about proprietary technology, research,development etc.......but selling those statements to people in "The Know" is rediculous.....the only research and development that has been done is marketing......they are just cree cobs/single diodes run on a constant currect......The same as every other cob brand.....whether it be Tasty/PLC/Amare..Cutter DIY/Johnson/Northern/Timber.......they all should literally run as effecient as each other......all running the same components......now we can be super technical and nit pick between 1400 and 1750 or 3070 to 3590.....but that is literally squeezing the last bit of juice from the orange........the only thing differ about the Amare is that they muddy the waters with single diodes and uv bar.....which arent necessary and until someone runs an extensive study butting their light to other cob lights and proves scientifically that Amare produces significantly better then any of the other COB company's......to me it is just a waste of money.....Mainstream company's like to keep most components a secret and transparency is usually not in there agenda....where home grown companys like the advertisers on this forum....who not only sell lights for there company but are more then willing to come on here and give advice and step by step instructions on how to build your own....potentially harming their own business in the process.....are the businesses that are gonna get my support to the fullest.......

they arent putting food on your table.....actually...quite the opposite.....

How could 168 watts of Cree leds per light be a complete waste? Especially when they only cost me 75$ over the competitors lights. My lights arrived and I immediately hooked them up. In hours my plants started praying towards the lights. Like I said anyone can slap in cobs, it takes a little more to turn a normal cob fixture into basically 2 spectate lights. If these standard 6 cob fixtures were priced accordingly maybe I would have gone that route but they aren't. The 60 LEDs have value and that's definitely overlooked. It's funny you mentioned stock, I asked victor the other day if there was such an option.
