So i want to leave the ny tristate, been looking at, Oregon-england-Spain since they seem the best fit for me(i know english and spanish) and i plan on leaving come 201#, i always plan ahead, so if you know any good freedom loving, scientific-leaning countries lemme know. i believe America is mostly fucked and a failure. Academia seems like my likely future.

i live in the uk and have family in spain. the uk is twisting and turning in the bile and hatred everyone has for everyone else, nowhere to vent it and the media rule all and are intensely negative about everything in an attempt to over sensationalise everything a little bit more than the other channel/newspaper etc its a great place, just a shame about the people.

spains properly fucked, it seems to be all the warmer countries in europe that are really up against it, italy spain portugal greece all may lose their currency soon. the people are insanely political and violent to go with it, with so many regions and region rivalries in spain its not worth the hassle trying to ingratiate urself atm.

Bora Bora...... now theres a place to move to...

Im also from the UK and would not recommend it as a place to live for anyone, pick somewhere warmer and friendlier imho. Especially if you have an interest in all things green as we are still deep in the mire of prohibition.

What's wrong with California, USA? I love it here. Granted, yes housing and gas is expensive. But the weed is amazing, the climate is nice, and overall the laws are pretty forgiving. The only thing they're strict about is guns, but even then it's not to bad once you really understand what the limits are. Like I can own an AR-15 or AK-47, so long as I put a $5 bullet button on it. They're a 10 round limit on new magazines, but you can keep your old 30rd mags.

In Cali, if you move up north people are more laid back and rural. Down south is well. Thats real cali for ya. lol. :)

just move. dont think just do

England is an absolute nightmare! Unemployment at record highs depressing news constantly, riots about to kick off yet again, terrible weather worse people ! I have recently moved to the south coast of Spain and find it fantastic in comparison, if your able to speak English and Spanish you will have no problem finding work at all ! It's quieter through the winter and absolutely great in the summer with people from all over Europe coming for there holidays and all in good spirits! Essentials are cheap and the nightlife is good there is plenty to keep you entertained day and night ! Would recommend to anyone, also weed is legal to carry on your person along as it does not exceed 50 grams! Excellent supply of hash from morocco 8 miles across the sea, all round good place to live and certainly regard it much better than the UK! As silasraven posted dnt think just move !! I waited around for a while questioning it untill one day I packed my bags and was on a flight on the afternoon and I'm pleased to say although scary at the time it's the best thing I've ever done and met people I would never have had the opportunity to if I hadn't done so ! Good luck with whatever you decide !

the US is a huge place. coming from the tri-state area i can see what your beef is, but there's a whole country out there. i would never leave this country for good unless i had seen every square inch of it or was a fugative.

i'd skip massachusetts, though. just a tip. we do have a lot of universities and academic smarties, though. still a shitty place to live imo.
