I grow Shrooms :)

Too many brownies
how could you commercially grow shrooms? it seems like a hassle for just a couple ounces... what about pounds?
Just make more cakes or casings....all you need is tupperware to grow them in its really easy...

If you made the initial leap you could easily have pounds upon pounds in about 6 weeks. :peace::blsmoke:

yea iv grown them for a while, i dont trip that much but i would trade them to friends who grew weed or who just had some dank.. once you start growing them it really seems redicuous to sell them, i just ended up telling everyone how to do it... share the secret... ITS NOT THAT HARD :-D

ive never grown, but you can get the ingredients really cheap. all you need are spores, vermiculite, a terrarium, perlite, bird seed, pressure cooker, jars, and a couple other misc. stuff. but after you have everything going, you just need bird seed, brown rice flower, brown rice, rye seed, hay, and theres other foods that they eat too.

just my 2 cents, with my limited knowledge on the subject

800 posts, whoohoo!!

you will not be able to pump out pound and pounds that a gross over estimate. the Shrooms lose 92 percent water weight so if you think you have a lot you dont. I know what i am doing with shrooms i have been at it for some time. Pounds is not practical unless you have alot of space alot of time and alot of know how.

MY buddy who is helping me at the moment had a 10x12 room lined with shelves and on every shelve he had some growing....he pumped out pounds.

yep! and its easy to expand with the PF method... just buy as many jars and mix as manya s u can afford.. i spent like $2-$3 a jar including spores, jar, and ingredients

Got to say alot of people really dont get that its harder then it looks. If it wasnt more people would do it. Sterility is key. ALso the amount of dried shrooms that nonstop got from that on cake was prob about 2 8ths dried. nothing major. Your not gonna be able to produce pounds unless you have a entire room setup, with a ionizer and a bunch of other stuff. The ingrediants are not the problem keeping everything sterile is

sterilitiy is the key you're right... but if you can grow weed, you can grow shrooms.
the easy shit is as simple as mixing a birthday cake... try it, but if you do... dont rush through

when i didnt have a glove box i would do the innoculations in a bathroom with still air... spray lysol and other things in the room (and then wait 15 min) as well as wipe down all counter tops with alcohol... wore a hair net, gloves, took a shower before and wore a clean white shirt that had the shit cloroxed out of it. and still flame sterilized my needles and wiped off the needles with alcohol....as well as use a NEW sterile needle on each syringe each time... not sure how other people do it but i have had good results.. takes a little longer and a little more thaught but you will be glad when 3 weeks later all your jars are white and not green.

as for start up cost... when i FIRST started i ordered 3 syringes (i think it was like $50 shipped) and me and 2 friends went to walmart and got 3-4 cases of jars ($12 a case) my friend baught a PCer for $60 and we got the brown rice at a organic food store ($15 for 2-3 bags) and made our own flour with a coffee grinder. got the vermiculite from the gardening section at walmart (more then we needed for $15) and some rubber made tubs (i think 5 of them for $10 a peice)

im pretty sure we did 48 jars on the first run and when it was all done with we each got 2oz+ dried (6oz on the first flush) and the second flush we each got around an oz
so 9oz on 48 jars? 5g per jar.... and that was without a glovebox, incubator, didnt do a drunk and roll (a simple step to increase yeild, and do more flushes)

yea it might be hard for some people to get the sterile part down.. but its so cheap to do more jars... and you can do new jars every 2-3 weeks.... if you mess up a marijuana plant you have to do MONTHS of work over.

even in the most unsterile rushed environments.. iv still always had ver 50% colonization as long as the jars were pressure cooked right.

maybe i just think its easy?
id love to see some mushroom grows on here...

EDIT: PF (proffessor fanaticus) method also called the BRF (brown rice flour) method, its one of the OLDEST ways to grow mushrooms indoors. it has been modified and adjusted but it pretty much means a widemouth jar (any size) mixed with BRF, WATER and VERMICULITE, and with holes in the lid for innoculation

EDIT 2: instead of buying expensive organic brown rice and making flour, i just buy it buy the pound.
Organic Brown Rice Flour a $12 for 10lbs.. had this shit shipped to me... showed up looking like a bounch double bagged Kilos of coke haha
as for vermiculite... iv found it cheaper to buy at smaller flower shops.... walmarts in these areas only carry FINE vermiculite.. its better to use course, picked up a 4cu foot bag for $13, if i had to guess thats enough to do several hundred jars easy (make sure they dont store the bags outside)
also... i wouldnt buy the sterilized jars online... they rape you in shipping and all they did was the EASY part for you

You should never use jars that are not fully colonized. Also brown rice flower is def. not the best substrate to use. Use organic Rye grain. Also there is no way that you can say that you got growth in the most unsteril environment. Black mold, green mold, even white mold.

if you used rye grain it wouldnt be a PF jar :-)
but yes you can use rye grain to make bulk substrate... but thats not what i was talking about
where did i say to use a jar that was not fully colonized? it has to be fully colonized before you take it out? or it wouldnt be a CAKE!

and yes, i have sat on my bed and shot up jars and never done anything other than wipe the needles with alcohol inbetween injections and still had all of them fully colonize! :-)

im not really sure if you are trying to discredit me or what... but... you have said nothing other than "it is impossible and anyone who says so is a liar, or everyone would do it"

hope you try it soon, you sound like you have done a lot of research and never really tried it... good luck

im guessing this is where you missunderstood me.... what i meant was even when i didnt take all the precautions i still had 50% colonize 100%

meaning even when not being that sterile iv never had more then half OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF JARS contaminate.

5 jars out of 10 make it. and 5 jars contam... 50%! get it? good!
