hempy collective re-vised

I am thinking 2 gallon buckets with a 60/40 coir/ coarse perlite mix and a 2 inch res. I think once in bloom they'll need to be watered on a daily basis, which is ok, because it acts as a reminder for me to do to close inspection more often.

I have my hempy bucket going. Finally have fixed some environmental issues (temps are sitting at 84 when it was tough getting it below 90 a week ago). Hoping to see some growth. For nutes Im currently just using GH Floranova Grow. I plan to add some molasses to this in the next week or so, as well as some hygrozyme. Then when I go to flower, simply replace the grow with the floranova bloom. My schedule is feed-water-feed-water. Planning to add the molasses and hygrozyme on every 3rd feeding. I figure it can't hurt to feed or water everyday with hempy, as it will replace solution in the resevoir on a regular basis without overwater/overnuting. Any thoughts from more experienced hempy growers?

I used the GH Flora Nova nutes when I was growing in soil. I switched to Dutch Master Gold series when I switched to hempy buckets. I started using 5 gal buckets and I am currently using 2.5 gal buckets. This size seems to work better for my space. With Hempy buckets, I feed every time the medium gets dry. I do this every 3 days. I switched to hempy about a year ago and it has been wonderful. Good luck.

Do you use all of the dutchmaster gold products? I'm really curious about additives for my buckets. The FloraNova Bloom in particular is missing a lot of micronutrients. Doesn't seem to be complete I guess.

I use Dutch Masters Gold Grow A&B and GrowMax - Bloom A&B and Bloom Max - for Bloom enhancers I use Fox Farms Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz and Cha-Ching.

Read the entire thread and it's wonderful. Saw only one mention of using an airstone. 20 years ago . . . well, who cares. Are airstones out of vogue these days? Are problems few and yields as bountiful without it? I'm also trying to get a handle on yields and problems for people still using The Lucas Formula with Hempy systems - anyone care to chime in with details? Only found a couple of grow journals and a lot of conflict. Is 2:1 still used?

See: The Lucas Formula

I am not sure if the above still applies. If it's out of date, somebody tell me that I'm old and in the way. Is everyone (including Lucas) using FloraNova now with their Hempy systems?

I'm only on my first grow, and I would not recommend FloraNova to others. I bought it without as much research as I should have done. I won't say it's a bad option, but I followed the instructions on the bottle, and I'm currently trying to fix a P deficiency. The grow formula only has a 4 for P ratio. I dont have any experience with the lucas formula so I can't chime in on that other than saying from what Ive read it seems to work well.

As far as airstones, Im not using one right now, but I will add them to my buckets for my next grow. Everything Ive seen says oxygenated water is better than nonoxygenated water. I'm not getting any negative effects from not using it, but I'm interested to see the improvement when I do add them.

It is difficult to find a lot of discussion about hempy buckets, which sucks lol. Ive started a number of threads with questions about hempys and it just seems that there arent that many hempy growers floating around, which is a shame.

There is no reason for an airstone in a hempy bucket the media has all the Oxygen the plants will ever need. Yes people have tested it and found the airstone unnecessary.

I use the Lucas Formula with my Hempy SOG and have no problems.

Iam pretty sure Lucas himself does not grow in Hempys. But he does use Floranova bloom.

I use Flora series Micro and Bloom so a two part A+B - 8ml micro to 16ml bloom

Both floranova bloom and flora series micro+bloom are "Lucas Formula".

I use the Lucas Formula for both Veg and Flower.

You do not need floranova grow. Just use the Floranova bloom @ 8 ml per gallon 6.3 PH

That is the Lucas Formula. Floranova is a 1 bottle lucas formula at that ratio.

Lucas Formula is the closest you can get to Mel Franks suggested elemental feed values.

Do you switch back to 12ml:12ml for your flowering cycle? My formula (see hyperlink 3 posts above) prescribes that change. Is that correct?

What's the advantage over just using the FloraNova Bloom? Money?

From your link:

G-M-B (Grow-Micro-Bloom)
0-5-10 - For Vegetative cycle (18/6)
0-8-16 - For Flowering cycle (12/12)

the (18/6), (12/12) are reference to hours of light.

And its incorrect anyway.

What it should say is:

G-M-B (Grow-Micro-Bloom)
0ml-5ml-10ml - For Fluorescent lights
0ml-8ml-16ml - For HID lights

Lucas has stated that 5-10 for vegetative cycle is misinformation passed on by other growers. Probably someone who used Fluorescent for veg.

You can use floranova grow during veg and the first week of flower if it works for you. But for flowering and ease of use lucas formula is 1 bottle of floranova bloom @ 8ml per gallon

Floranova Bloom has the Flora Series Micro and Bloom together in one bottle, You just have to shake the bottle alot.

Wow, I didn't know that about Floranova. I both both parts of the system and was following the directions on the bottle, just using the Grow as I'm in Veg right now. It led me to a phosphorous deficiency..... Since I figured the deficiency out, Ive done 4ml Grow and 4ml Bloom to add some P, and also added some indo guana tea on another feeding a few days later as it was still getting worse. Hopefully Ill see some results within a week or so (not expecting leaves to recover, just the damage to stop continuing to spread). Then Ill switch to just Floranova Bloom and see how that works. Also have been planning to add molasses and hygrozyme on every 3rd feeding, but havent started yet because of the deficiency.

Molasses is best suited to Organics and not the best for chemical nutrient grows. In place of it I would recommend a P+K booster to help with flower stack. Maybe something like Hydroplex or CNS 17 Ripe.

You don't need all that sugar from the molasses. its for feeding organic microherds. Molasses does have some P and K but its mostly sugar.

It was my understanding that the FloraNovas were Organic. They advertise as the best combination of hydroponic and natural gardening. Seem to be an organic compound that you can use with hydro. That's why I was going to add the molasses and hygrozyme.

Floranova series is not a 100 % organic fertilizer, its the regular Micro and Bloom with coal based humic and fulvic acids added.

Some of the components are Organic, some are not. Those organics do not need additional break down by microbes.

You wont be growing a micro-herd so you don't need the sugars.

Then I guess I won't need the hygrozyme either, because it helps out with the little micros as well. I'm guessing the guano I added was a bad idea too then huh? Will mixing them cause any damage? Or is it just not as beneficial? I'll be switching to straight Fnova bloom for my next feeding in a few days. Save all this organic stuff for another grow where I'll be straight organics.

I dont think it will cause damage but guano cannot breakdown into base elements without a Mycorrhizae, Bacteria or Protozoa inoculating the root zone.

If I was going to run organics with hempys I would use Coco coir with a 100% organic nute line and a blend of beneficials.

I put a link to this misinformation on #104. My bad.

Xare, Now that I understand your feeding concentrations allow me to ask you about your schedule. Do you water with this formulation every time you water? Or do you alternate with pure waterings or follow some other schedule. Sorry to ask, but I'm clearly having trouble finding the correct information for using Lucas on a Hempy system.

Yes I feed with nutes every time I water.

I used to work in a water only feeding but found them to be unnecessary. Now I only flush at the end of my flower cycle.

And I think full strength nutes is recommended by Dali Hempy

SirTitanium

When you say full strength, you are referring to your 16ml:8ml formulation per Gallon of H20?

So you don't target a PPM or TDS or EC? It just works.

Xare

Well-Known Member
For hempy water with full strength nutes of whatever line you use.

Lucas formula is 1320 PPM @ 8ml micro / 16ml bloom per gallon on a .7 conv and RO water
