I know the mars2 panels aint the best and im just a noob .but the mars 2 panel is killing my cfl grow.the bad is penetration.thats why if i ever have a extra 500 $ prob buy a better name panel.all my tops are way better than last grow.and this fall grow im using it again with 250w hps on other half of tent.
To be honest, I have no idea what you meant lol. Are you trying to say the mars 2 is good? killing ur cfl grow? "the bad is penetration".... english prease

By killing the cfl grow I think they meant outperforming it by a large margin. I think by "the bad is penetration" they are saying it outperforms really well at the top of the canopy, but no real penetration into the undergrowth. I think lol

Hey I'm interested in getting two Mars 2 1200w and putting them in a 5x5 gorilla grow tent. Does anyone think this is too much wattage for that amount of space, I've seen some dudes grow forum using multiple 1200w Mars 2 and they would fry his plants but then I see other people using these same LEDs and they aren't that high above the canopy and the plants seem fine...
get a 1600 watt one.they use about 750 watts from the wall and will cover a 5x5 area nicely.and 1 is cheaper than 2 1200's.

Yea but one panel sucks cause what ever aint under the panel will suffer.2 smaller that equal that 1600 would be better.what ever topled and other companies say there flower coverage is a lie.its always smaller area of coverage.from my exp with my 400w mars 2 it is covering half my 3x3 tent.2 of them would prob do great in 3x3

Okay I see what you are saying, but the reason I wanted to get the 1600 is for the veg/bloom switch (mainly the veg). If I were to get 2 Mars 900w panels in standard spectrum would that be fine for vegging?

Idk never vegged with mine.I used t5s for veg.all I can really say bout these mars 2 leds is keep your plants low.bad penetration
Threw canopy

I run 2300w of Mars 2 LEDs in a 5x5 tent. The 700w is in the centre, with 4 x 400w units in each corner. This, in my opinion, is the optimum for coverage, although i would think replacing the 700w in the centre with another 400w would make little or no difference.

I wouldn't bother with the 1600w myself, there is too much of a risk that a driver will go, and then you're screwed. These lights are fantastic value for money compared to other LEDs, but there is no denying that there are issues with the drivers and power banks, which seem to be more common in the larger wattage units. If you have 4 x 400w rather than the one light, if a power bank goes you have backups in the tent, not to mention the better coverage.

Don't believe what Mars Hydro tell you about coverage. The 900w is about right for a 3x3, and the 1600w is good for a 4x4. If you really want the veg and bloom switch, and you have a 4x4 tent, then the 1600w may be for you, but if you have a 5x5 tent, you will lose yield from the edges of the tent if you go for the 1600w.

I've run these lights from seed (as in an entirely LED grow, no T5s or any other light has been involved at any stage) and so far they seem to be doing just fine. I'm currently at about day 45 of flower. Golf ball nugs rather than donkey dicks, but really frosty with shit loads of trichs.

The actual draw is just over 1kw from these 5 units.

I've never had any issues with temps, and can plug all 5 units straight into the wall socket with no problems.

Remember that vertical space is vital with these units, so aim to have anything up to 26 inches of space between the lights and the canopy throughout the grow. I would advise LST and a scrog.

I've also run the Gas Lantern Routine with these lights in veg and it works fine (12/5.5/1/5.5)

Ignore people who try to claim they don't like LEDs, or they think they aren't as good as other lights. I've learned that these people are almost always narrow minded, or in a position where they simply can't afford LED technology, so come up with all sorts of reasons to discredit them.

Mars II LEDs work and have all the advantages that LED lights offer a grower, if you can't afford them, stick to HPS, simple.

Can I ask how much power 2300 watts of mars II panels draws at the wall and how much you paid for them?

I call bullshit. Dude I have two Mars II 1600w and one 1200w and a 900w plus two Mars 100x3watt. I'm not running 5900watts I'm running running 2653 true watts actual power being drawn and the light do work but he doesn't need all that for a 5 x5 tent.

2 1200s will blow that tent out do it I have 1056w of combined led panels and led t8s in a 4x4 and it is cranking out don't listen to the led haters. there is nothing wrong with mars led. just a lot of haters who never tried them and say "no way those will work my friend tried them and got hosed" well my friend I am using them right now and am very pleased. also I am buying more to make a veg room instead of the slow way (same tent) hope this helps you.

I don't think we are saying they won't work I think we are saying they are less efficient than a HPS and cost wise much higher. LED's are all about efficiency and the low quality diodes that KIND LED/ MARS HYDRO / TOP LED / ETC are not very efficient making them a poor investment. You could literally put one 1000w hps in a 5x5 tent and it will cover from wall to wall, and you can get that all for 300$ including bulb. The same coverage with these low quality LEDs will cost MUCH more and produce lower quality buds with less density. You don't have to believe me but it takes QUALITY LEDs and a lot of them to compare to HID tech, just look at apachetechLEDs they are some of the best on the market and we have solid evidence that the AT600 produces as much as a 1000w hps, runs at 650w and costs about 10x more than that HPS (2500$ vs 300$). Low quality cheap diodes just don't work for medical patients that can go to HID technology for a fraction of the price.

Yes they are cheaper , hence dramatic price difference. But in no way are they bad lights that deserve the bashing they receive from high end led users. I get fat sweet sticky stinky colas covered in trichromes and I grow better shit than they sell in the dispensaries around here. Now completely understand there are better leds on the market that will outlast marshydro and out perform them 100 times out of 100 but I can't ever justify spending 3 grand to get one no matter how much the output 3 grand is a down payment on a 5 acre parcel of land. So for me and a lot of other growers the cheap chinese garbage works just fine same size buds as my hps setup, Just 2 times the trichrome production. Now from what I have read on here (riu) you best off making your own I just have no soldering/wiring skills

I just don't understand using something less efficient than HPS which means higher electric bills and more heat and paying more for it vs HPS. Why not run CMH which will give you better quality than HPS at less watts and cost less than these low quality LED panels, makes no sense.

My power bill has gone down 46 dollars a month just from the switch alone I notice no less bud growth if anything I have better quality as I said my trichrome production doubled using same strain, same nutes only difference is I swapped lights. I can already tell this batch far surpasses my last grows quality. so say what you will. I like these cheapos and they work just fine for my needs.

I'm happy for you and there is a wide range of quality in the LED panel market. So your saving $46 a month and getting the same yield and better quality bud. Can I ask how much you invested and how many watts at the wall you have?

Watts of combined panels and t8 leds 1056 W. (Diodes) off the wall according to my killawat reads between 760w-764w (fluctuations) compared to my old 600w led all together I spent around 640$ cash 200 ish for the 400w 80 for the two 300w panels and 60 a piece for the 4 t8 leds. plus I bought it all piece by piece so it was cost effective for me. Now I know you can buy one really good led for that but personally I can't drop a whole paycheck on a light if they had led layaway I'd happily will make the switch but I live paycheck yo paycheck at the moment
