Hey I'm interested in getting two Mars 2 1200w and putting them in a 5x5 gorilla grow tent. Does anyone think this is too much wattage for that amount of space, I've seen some dudes grow forum using multiple 1200w Mars 2 and they would fry his plants but then I see other people using these same LEDs and they aren't that high above the canopy and the plants seem fine...

They are the Topledgrowlights that use the 5w diodes but I'm pretty sure they draw about 50% of that actually so the actual power draw of each is around 550 watts, about 1,100 for both. I wanna know if using both would be fine in a 5x5 area or maybe that would fry my plants... O yea and the height of my room is a little over 7 and a half feet.

i'm no led aficionado, but i'd guess you'd be hard pressed to have too much led lighting. you'd prob. run out of available space, before you'd have too much lighting.

It'd be helpful to know the manufacturer or specs of the diodes to see their lumens/lux. But, at that price I'd assume it's on the low end. You should be fine with a minimum distance of 14-18".

Just do 2 smaller lights for that tent size. If you go to dhgate.com and type in mars II you will find a bunch of info on these leds. There is also info on this forum. I know people say that they don't believe manufacture hype. But roll it up has tons of info on mars leds. Do the research and decide for yourself. A lot of haters and know it alls on cannibus forums. They sound like this " I had a friend who........"

ya believe me lol I've checked a lot of forums about this light not only on rollitup, and thanks for the advice I just wanted to know if two of these 1200w's would be possible in a 5x5 because I haven't come across a thread of someone trying it.

I don't see the relevance of your post... other than the distance part

Of course it's possible. People on here get multiple ounces per plant using 400watts and a bunch of CFLs. I recently bought 3 mars lights and have them as supplemental lights. Keep them 3ft from tops and then move them down 6 inches a week. I have my 400s led 18 inches from tops. No burns or shriveled leaves. Every environment and strain is different

Do these have narrow lenses on them? I just can't figure why everyone keeps there panels so high up. I run cree cobs and keep them 4-5 inches away from the tops and have great results.

Power consumption alone is not the only indicator of light intensity.

A lot of the commercial panels I've seen have 90 degree lenses. Your cobs are 115-120 degrees without lenses.

YEA i know, all leds are 120 degree for the most part without lenses.

i didn't think 30 degrees would make a 2ft difference. i would much rather have no lenses to reduce the light and have them closer.

I run a 1200 mars 2 and a hps 600. No issues. The mars 2 gives off very little heat compsred to the mixed revies. And a cross ligh pattern would be shivvy. Go for it!
